  • Join me on a breathtaking exploration of an abandoned restaurant designed to look like a boat, now partially submerged in water due to a water leak. The restaurant only sunk approximately 3 months ago, but in that short time, it has become a breeding ground for mold and other forms of decay.
Despite the restaurant's tragic fate, I was able to discover something truly remarkable during my investigation - two old dumbwaiters used to transport food and plates between floors.
As I examined the lifts, I opened the motor hatch door, and this allowed me to see the walls from inside the lift shaft. What I noticed were old tiles that suggested this area may have once been part of the kitchen, but had been converted to a lift shaft at a later date. The dated call buttons on the lifts only added to my suspicions that these impressive Stannah Microlifts had been installed sometime after the restaurant was built.
What's truly intriguing is that the dumbwaiters had been in use up until 3 months ago, before the restaurant sank and the water level rose up to 3 feet, rendering them completely unworkable. It's fascinating to think about the last meals that these dumbwaiters carried and the conversations that took place around them.
