  • In Part 1 of the S10 Series, I got this Old 1986 Chevrolet S10 running again after sitting parked for many years, around 16 or 17 to be exact. It was parked next to a field on a small farm. I got the truck running (kind of sortuvish), and on this episode, I'll see If I can get it down the road on its own power and do some skootin' around!

Had a iron duke in a 88 Olds Cierra. Great car for over ten years. Bought it used from a dealer lot. But after a while it developed this odd little knock in the engine. Did the right thing and just drove it for years. Finally the plastic timing gear broke so I refreshed it with rings and bearings. Found the knock. It was a rod bearing. Had to laugh a it came on slow and I thought, it couldn't be a rod. Tough engine. Wife got another car and the kids beat the piss out of it for 2 more years until the daughter drove it after the oil pump decide it was done pumping. Metal flake oil. To the scrapyard it went. Enjoy your videos. AL from Cottage Grove, Mn.

Great little trucks. The Iron Duke 4 cylinder is indestructible. I flipped a 90 S10 in 91 with no seatbelt on and walked away. Then I got a 92 with the 2.8 and ran it until 2006. It was still running great with 300K...should have kept it.

You can use the starter to break loose a stuck clutch. Since you don't have brakes, push truck again a solid object, put it in gear with clutch pedal depressed, operate starter. the clutch disc can't move and the starter will put force on the flywheel and pressure plate away from the disc. I did this once on as old Volvo(with good brakes, so no need for solid object)

I've actually learned alot from watching Derek work on these old cars, no one really ever taught me how to work on cars, just basic things. He's given me alot of inspiration for finding old trucks and cars to work on and to own at some point before they become scrap or rust eats them up. Keep up with the videos man🤟 redline fer a good time

@@427ve36tte Just go grab some old car air fresheners from the box of junk in your garage (don't use new ones, they smell too much) and get them in there. Under the seat, under the dash, you name it, just squeeze'em right up in there. Your rig will be smelling fresh as a daisy in no time.

I had the exact same clutch issue with my old Talbot Motorhome. The fix was to put her in gear, clutch down and then turn over the engine. after about 2 attempts there used to be a loud bang and she was as good as new. You are correct regards long term storage, store with the clutch pedal down.

Iron Dukes are tough. My '91 S10 I bought new, had 247,000 + miles on it. Got broadsided and rolled it 3 or so times so that was that, but it still would run. Had original starter, alternator, and clutch. Miss that truck. Had to put a head gasket, 3 radiators in the little guy.
