I don't know why every gearhead on the planet isn't watching this channel. The best engine builder and the best customers/ colleagues.
Sammme this is one of the most informative channels I have seen on you tube alongside banks
I second that!!!
Most gearheads haven't thought of sharing this info when this is like a Bible in racing.
I’m saving my 💰to have an SMX in my 79 styleside F100 C6 trans 9 inch.
Out with the factory 351 C an SMX it is 4 me….One day….🤔
Agreed
"I've Got Ceramic Balls" would make a Great Shirt for Torque Storms....lol
😂 That would be hilarious
😆 And "We do hard things here!"
HYBRID Ceramic balls. lol
Somehow... these guys do not impress me like the "humor t-shirt type of guy?" J
Real talkative bunch over there
They live in a frozen desert for most the year. Takes the personality right out of them.
😂
This was a little hard to watch… this is why you hire salesman’s that can talk to push your products.
They're my kind of people.
I’d fit right in!! 😂
When Steve was watching where they break in the new chargers and picked up that towel to show the blow off, when he put the towel back, the guy running that process moved the towel back and looked at Steve for a minute, I thought he was going to say “The towel goes here”. Lol
Steve has the most entertaining tours. I love how he just can't help but repeat everything for us like we didn't hear it from the person telling it to him.
😂
He just likes what he does so much. Steve just got to tell you twice.
That's the teacher in him. He truly doesn't realize it and probably can't help it
Being officially ancient, I am amazed at the progress of machining in my lifetime. I saw overhead belt driven machines being used, everyday, in a small Oregon coast town in my teens, & have watched how dramatically our entire world has changed because of the advancement of CNC.
And that is only in my relatively short lifespan. It boggles the mind to think what today's teens will see when they're officially ancient.
Thanks for taking us along to your friends' place, Steve.
GeoD
I feel the same way.
agreed and phones blow my mind still too lol but yes cnc technology is amazing!!
I agree 100% but at the same time I’m even more impressed when I learn of the marvelous work that was achieved decades before the advancements. Such things as WW2 aircraft engines with precision machined surfaces that didn’t use sealing gaskets or any goop to seal components or covers.
A smoldering wasteland if we don't get this clown out of the Whitehouse.
stick and brazing welding repairs, only had 9'' grinders, and a good selection of speed braces !
Cleetus is getting good with the floor scrubber and he would work for smx parts.
Agreed.
He keeps hurting parts, he's going to have to...lol
@@redpillpirate111 What does he keep hurting?
@@--_DJ_--Feelings
@@redpillpirate111lol suprised he havnt partner with smx.since he did partner up with motion race works.
The first thing I noticed when they walked inside was how clean that shop was, it’s a machine shop and you could probably eat off the floor. Nice place they keep up up there.
Whats realty insane is the fact that they are achieving 1 thousands or so tolerance on the blower impeller, on a 4 axis operation with "god" knows how many gear sets and 5 motors (1 drives the tool head rotation) Now that is mind blowing. Thanks Steve and crew from TorqStorm.
Ya, it really doesn't make sense that it can be done to that level with so many moving parts. Obviously it can be done, but it seems more like magic than anything else.
@@--_DJ_-- Precision engineering. zero lash gear sets Extremely flat tables and what about the motors that rotate the 3, 4 axis? The position control WOW mind boggling This level of Automated precision was never thought to be possible in the early 70s (50 years ago)
Well the machining of blisks for turbine engines would blow your mind then, holding tolerances of a couple of Tenths on a 5 axis.
Steve kills me!! He has to Touch Everything!! 😂 Lol. The look on them guys face were like.. “ Don’t Touch That, Don’t Ask That”. Secret 😂 Great Stuff Tho!!
and now we all want to know how they drill the hole that I would have never cared about. lol
And he isn’t always the handiest when he’s picking stuff up! Lol
I'm surprised he hasn't been kicked out keep your hands to your self you wouldn't want anyone touching your stuff
You can tell Steve really enjoys the machine side of manufacturing. Places like this, he’s like a kid in a candy store.
The look on their face, I was expecting a “your as bad as my kid” at any moment lol.
I'm a retired machinist and your shop looks to be be well run and efficient. Nice job.
That LS powered test rig would make and awesome T-shirt cannon!! 🤣👍🏻
Thanks Steve and the Torq-Storm guys for taking the time to show us all around.
I like when Steve spots his new bottom pulley. I always called those turblowers.
Good to see those Schatz bearings from here in the Hudson Valley of NY. Best in the world!
Poor Scott was more awkward on camera than Clarks use to be lol. Clark is now hammin' it up on cam!!
This is what makes Steve so good. He actually has a personality and doesn’t just stand around quiet. It was so awkward him trying to get these guys to talk and explain things
That was a rather "uncomfortable" interview there Steve! You did real well to hold it together! Thank you, J
The amount of content steve is putting out is super impressive for being newish to youtube
I have been watching Steve on you tube for 12 years. That doesn’t seem very newish.
@bcbloc02 alright well newish to nearly daily uploads lol hes killing it lately
I have worked in these top secret shops with close tolerance work aka military & aircraft, and even medical parts. Not only is there an inspection room with precision equipment with ruby tipped probes to check quality, but these machines have probes that check the work before it is removed from the fixtures or tombstones found in the Doosan pallet machine. Some parts are even viewed on an optical comparator inspection machine.
I want to thank these guys for allowing us to see what they do and just a part if there process. This stuff to me is absolutely amazing and I know, not just anyone gets an eye into their processes. Amazing F’N work gentlemen and THANK YOU!!! THIS SHIT IS BAD ASS!!!
My favorite show but this type of episode is my favorite too. Reminds me of how it's made kinda.
Keep it up Steve great information! 👍
It'd be below them as far as cost and especially cost per unit but I'd one for my Lil 2.4.
This was right in our lane which most people don't get to see. GD&T entered the chat when Chris started talking about uniformity in the impeller wheel. Pallet changers and tombstones o' plenty! Was fun to see the jovial digs back and forth amongst friends. Cheers!
24:17 The real goal that you need is for SME to be running so smoothly and perfectly that YOU can go be the floor scrubber guy and only have to worry about that! Ironcially, that is my goal as well : )
Nice to meet your crew
This video was a dance.
These guys know lots of secret stuff. Steve understands enough of this stuff that they were really hoping he didnt accidentally say something!
I enjoyed this, thanks!!!
Hey Steve,
Tim here, i stayed for the whole thing....i was mesmorized as a machinist dude, (Non CNC mind you) at everything u were allowed to show......i was SO proud of these dudes, and they OBVIOUSLY got their shi% together......i genuinely enjoyed the whole thing!!!.....i'm gonna promote Torque Storm cent. Blowers as much as i can!!!....TY sir for a VERY informative, and (as much as u were allowed) in depth look at their blowers.... TY SIR!!!..PEACE to you!!
Great video, very informative. I am very impressed with Torque Storm, especially now knowing it’s American made
5:50 I don’t think I’ve ever seen so many serpentine belts in one place at one time.
37:33 I have never seen anything but an exhaust manifold/header run into a Flowmaster muffler tell now.
43:07 You know it’s legit workhorse when it has a ratchet strap or two on it.
47:26 It’s amazing what CNC machines can do, but what really amazes me is how the CNC machine is built. It can repeatedly be that precise over and over again through millions of different movements reliably, stays exact and doesn’t skip a beat.
On his bearing demo, it was still spinning when he stopped it with his hand😂
Steve and Blower Guys. We/I really appreciate your love and understanding for "What is Cool". Don't ever change. Only good machinist appreciate what 5 Tenths TIR really means. Impressive..
Careful using 50's picture, he might come collect on Monday 😂😂
Awesome tour and Torq Storm has quite the operation!!!
I enjoy all your videos but this one is next level. Thanks to you and these other gentlemen for putting out this content. I love machine work, being a life long machinist.
28:37 its like framing & roofing a house if you are off everytime you add another board by the time you get to the end absolutely nothing is square "lines up".
That dude putting together the superchargers has the dream job
I haven't heard of this SC before so I'm glad I've got a chance to see how good they are. A 94mm SC like these is exactly what I'm looking for so I'm going to look hard at this one.
I have a whole new perspective of Torqstorm as a result of your video. I will definitely be considering them when I get to thst point with my project.
Wow. Their shop is spotless. Cool stuff as always Steve
The more I learn about these blowers the more I am impressed. They seem great for the street strip weekend warrior folks
Great to see machine shops like this thrive in America. Also awesome to see they're into cool cars and performance. Win Win. 🤙
Nice Steve! Im machining two small superchargers here for my 2cyl Tf build. Cool to see someone else making chips fly on the same (albeit much larger) hardware.
Well , best wishes, and be safe. Ten fingers ten toes...all good!
48:38 My face was about 4 inches from the computer monitor watching that thing cut when the Planet Fitness ad came on. That was far out. Thanks Steve
These guys seem like the people you stop to visit that dont want you there😂
Man, I love these videos where Steve or Kyle goes to a specialty shop and does an in depth video tour of the facility. It’s so cool to have a glimpse into their world and learn a little about how they do stuff.
I was just about to place a order for a Novi 2200X but after seen this great video I change my mind completely , now I will purchase that Torqstorm billet 91mm supercharger with complete 12 rib setup for my LS1, thanks very much for this video SME I would never know this stuff before thanks to you 😁😁😁👍👍👍
Steve is always the one explaining things, even when he's at someone else's business. Let them talk!
Definitely something Powerdyne could’ve never imagined…
I have a Torqstorm single, very early production guys on a Dodge magnum 390 ci. Machine work, fit and finish is 10 out of 10! 👍🤘👏
That Chris Beardsley is one grumpy sob though… I guess if I had to talk to idiots on the phone all day I would be too. Be nice if he changed his tune when not talking to an idiot… Their sales would be triple if he wasn’t answering the phone. 👍
Wow, knowing that makes me not want to even give them my business. And I've been reading up on these for months now.
@skimask5911 I wouldn't let one guys assessment online dissuade you. Give em a call, and if you don't like what you are hearing from them, don't give them your money 🙂
I wouldn’t let that deter you from a great product. Just be prepared to deal with p*ss pants if he’s in a mood…
Embarrassing I know… but it’ is a great product! @@skimask5911
All the idiots he talks to all day also think they’re not idiots .
I constantly have to humble people who think they know everything in the engine machine business. I do it slickly though with hard facts, not a bad attitude…
Especially all the Ls genius’s who build engines based off of monkey see monkey do, and wonder why it runs like sh*t… When their engine is like a patch quilt, nothing f*cking matches… 😜@@jkfonyi
its truly amazing how far we have come in such a short time, pop in a billet of material and out pops a completed product, perfect everytime.
Great vid. I've been extremely pleased with my Torqstorm blower on my SS sedan. Great to see the faces behind a stout product and their future developments!
Awesome schooling on how a centri works, made and the details of the whole thing. I normally don’t like videos this long but this one is just all info and zero fluff but with Steve still enjoying himself, making it very interesting.
Most informative channel for this topic on TH-cam
This is a great in depth view of how a centrifugal supercharger is machined and built - in West Michigan no less! Thank you Steve Morris for walking us all through this. Also thank you Scott and Chris for your focus and dedication on keeping it American made, clearly you take pride in your work.
I knew these products were made in Grand Rapids, but this helped understand just how much and what was involved in the making of them. Thank you very much!
Got the small supercharger from them on my gto. It’s amazing. Saving up for the big one they have. I need more power
TorqStorm and Steve Morris 🇺🇸. Buy local USA greatness !!!
All American made, very cool. That run in stand with 75HP motor and Inverter was cool. The variable speed inverter is the industrial controls business I am in. I was looking to see if one of our inverters was on that stand, but the inverter was not visible in the video.
Another excellent video! I started out as an automechanic and now im a machine tool mechanic and always fascinated with all the different cnc machines. Thanks again for the great video!
excited for another video!! thank you for all the great content!
Very, very interesting. Thanks Steve for bringing us along for the shop tour. 🤔
Steve and Torque Storm, y'all rock! Thanks for the tour. Peace
Middle of the morning and mean to be getting some work done, paperwork, but instead am sitting here finishing this vid I started last night. Amazing shop. Thanks for the effort,Steve, in doing this vid-really enjoyed it. Turned my race car over earlier so empathy on your going around damage on your bumped dragster estate racer. Good luck guys
Great company. Innovation and hard work getting things done and making things happen. Thanks for the tour.
2 mins in and I already know this gonna be a good video. I like the tours of people's shops seeing the cool stuff people have and do 🇺🇸 hell yeah. Take back our country and start manufacturing more stuff back here
Dang I love CNC machining and I’ll do it till I die! Thanks for the great content fellas.
Great to see that Torque Storm makes mounting brackets for ALL American V8s and likely a few others. Thank you, TS!
The quality 🤙👌
thanks for sharing Steve!
They don’t make super chargers they make works of art
I have to say there's a lot of good tech coming out of Michigan state of 20:18 motor City I guess.
36:05 I can tell you just knowing a small amount about cnc machines I know they are doing some serious machining. You can tell just from that shot how they mount the tools in their spindles using induction heating and I know those processes are not cheap, easy simple or anything in between but you can get damn near perfect tool placement and making sure your tool is straight in that holder is really important.
Wow Steve, that impeller wheel is a really crazy cut. That programmer needs a raise.
This V8 test stand has the MOTHER OF ALL PARTY PULLEYS! 😂😁🤟
Need to go back with a couple bottles of scotch to liven these guys up next time 😆😆
That pully. The guy she told to not worry about😂
Thanks Steve Morris. Always educating and truthful.
Once again a Awesome video for Professor Morris. You are going to have to change the intro and Add Sugar Momma 😊😊 love the Channel keep up the Amazing work !!!!!
Love this channel. Steve has the perfect personality for this content. Keeps getting better and better.
I like how they have steve “boxed in” as they move around. He’s like a little hyper kid running around. There’s a “clean” inspection area and he won’t get near it.😆😆great video from a quality manufacturer.
Now you have to redo your intro montage to include Sugar Momma carrying her tires! The whole garage needs highlighted.
Steve is so good at explaining tech in a way I can understand I think he's a bad influence 😅 I know too much now and need a faster motor and better American made parts! In all seriousness I truly appreciate Kyle, Steve and Dewey for bringing us along on all these adventures while educating us too!
Blown away by it all 👍
Excellent for highlighting American made
American quality.
Excellent !!!
Awesome video Steve. I met you at sick week in Gainesville and you were super cool very down to earth. Like talking to an old friend.
Thanks Steve I always thought this was a cheap Chinese company. I was way wrong very impressed with there stuff now I know there a U.S.A company. Definitely interested in what there offering
One of the most underrated blowers out there … awesome piece of kit
watching the compressor wheel get made is mind blowing!
Awesome tour and machine work!
Thank you Steve for all that you do!
Thank you Steve! Amazing video. Something tells me that those guys don’ t sit around at night drinking chilled vodka and ice-cold Busch Light! Wish that there were some responsible individuals like you and your friends in Washington D.C. !!! 👍
You know… I was sitting in my garage with the 5 axis mill wondering how to cut an impeller so I can put torque storm out of business. That picture answered all my questions. Thank you. 😂😂
I really appreciate it, too. Gave me a newfound respect which I already did for torque storm. Made me want to buy one for sure. Thanks.
I worked at a shop that had a cleaner, they would manage the floors, garbage, chips, coolant including changes and more. I think you would be surprised how much this increases productivity in a shop.
really cool video! Thanks Steve and Torque Storm guys!
I wonder how they get the ceramic ball bearings between the races without the cage, the continuous bearings? I can’t figure that one out. That was an impressive machine shop / manufacturing facility. I see why there is processes we can’t see, they have spent a lot of money and made a bunch of scrap figuring everything out. Thanks for the tour Steve. I know Turbo design is very much evolving, searching for every horsepower or pound of boost. I know on Turbos, at least the Pulling Sport, they watch the drive pressure and boost pressure and can see if the Turbo is properly balanced and selected. I don’t understand everything. There is plenty of Rabbit Holes to get lost in, as far as learning and knowledge.

Thanks for the shop tour!
Two thoughts:
- Will airflow be improved by making an intake venturi that induces a rotation of the air column matching the impeller rotational direction?
- Would a snowmobile style variable drive ratio improve driving experience? Oil pressure on a clutch throwout bearing would be a simple way of testing the concept.
love seeing the CNC work! I do Lathe live tool work weekly, I enjoy what i do.
Thank you mr Steve I’ve definitely learned a thing or two about centrifugal blowers 😊
Awesome work.
I'm glad you made this video I thought for sure torque storms were made in China
Man, they’re less than half the cost of a Procharger or Vortech.
Well, might need to get a single LS kit
