Jay was awesome! Great man. Funny thing, Bill came across as an old man while explaining to Jay how to be perceived as someone who isn't old. Jay is levels above Bill in every way.
He was. Now kissing the ring of the American caesar. Bill wants to ball around hollywood circles, and at the same time ingratiate himself with the conservatives. Quite a stretch van damme style!
Hearing these two together is fun because they are so different: one is a family man, and one is resistant to long-term relationships. One doesn't mind being seen as an old man, and the other wants to be hip and date young women. One will tour until he dies, and the other has sworn off touring. Yet, they respect each other and have fascinating and funny conversations.
In the past three years, I've been lucky enough to have seen both of you perform standup live. Great shows! Two of the best of all time. Jay may be the classiest in the business. Another great conversation. Thanks Bill!
Finally a great conversation without Bill monopolizing the 2 hours. Obviously, his friendship and reverence for Jay is the reason, but I wish all episodes were more like this.

Two absolute masters of standup. I could listen to them talk for hours. Many people may have forgotten but in the 80’s Leno was the king. He would go on Letterman and kill every single time. Saw him live in 1987-ish. I don’t think I ever laughed so hard.
Great interview. Leno is a class act and a remarkable story teller. Jay, please tell us more about our cultural heritage. One of your best conversations, Bill. Thanks.
Great show! Jay is a great man. Very humble and genuine. I was his driver in Cleveland once and he treated me just like he was with you. He's just Jay and that's what is so great about the guy. I really enjoyed watching this more than any of your shows. I hope he comes back soon.
The way he uses them to transition away from Bill's tiresome tirades like when Jay _had the nerve_ to suggest that Bill's onstage dexterity might decline from the absence of constant refinement, then he steered it with a story about the complaint of the two week old new material and receives full throated laughter out of "angry Bill!?"
Not even exaggerating when I say that Bill should have Jay on once a week. Or AT LEAST twice a month. His stories are awesome and he is still hilarious. And he's a great guy. Plus, as a lifelong car guy myself, I love that Jay is a lifelong car guy too. If he is opposed to writing a memoir with all of these awesome showbiz stories, then we need him to do more of these podcasts where he can tell them for posterity. This episode alone should be three hours long! Just watched the whole thing and I'm actually slightly angry that it's over!
Jay is a gem of a human, I could listen to his stories any day. Edit. 56 min mark Sean Connery/Lana Turner & Johnny Stompanato is well worth a google search. You're welcome !
Please bring Jay back every quarter! His stories are great! Had no idea that Carson had a “hit” on him. Not even in the book his lawyer wrote about him.
I love seeing Jay's love for his wife. Bill might be onto something when it comes to living life without those responsibilities, but he might also be missing out on that level of love Jay clearly has for his wife.
Jay was one of the first comedians I ever followed (from the early 80's), and he has not changed in those 40 years. He always has new material, but with all his success still makes the same kind of jokes.
Jay has mastered not giving his opinion on political matters even while being a petrol head...a cunning fox is Jay Leno...was considered common sense not long ago ...no religion no politics.
Yeah, I think he just took a lot of heat in his era from the people who missed Johnny Carson. But now people realize what they had. I always liked him.
In 1981, I was on a layover in the Las Vegas airport. I see the not-yet-famous Jay Leno standing alone. I say, "Excuse me, I can't remember your name, but I really liked you in 'American Hot Wax'." Jay introduced himself, asked me several questions about myself, and actually brought me over to meet his wife, Mavis. It was a short conversation, but I will be forever impressed with Jay's cordiality.
"Losing a hundred bucks makes you feel stupider than winning a thousand dollars makes you feel good." I've always looked for a succinct way to put into words on why I can never gamble money. This is it. Thank you Jay!

Yup. I went to Vegas the first time last year, left the 🎰 alone for the wind, then tried it out: Slid in a $1, pressed the button, the machine went bloop-bloop for 6 seconds, and that was it. Never again
I don't watch Maher anymore because he is a political scold but I saw Leno was the guest so I tuned in. He was the perfect guest! He redirected Maher every time he started blathering about "woke", etc. Jay is all about comedy, which is what Maher should have stuck to. Leno is a national treasure.

Jay was awesome! Great man. Funny thing, Bill came across as an old man while explaining to Jay how to be perceived as someone who isn't old. Jay is levels above Bill in every way.
BILL HAS SUCH A FRAGILE EGO..😂
Typical lefty
He was. Now kissing the ring of the American caesar. Bill wants to ball around hollywood circles, and at the same time ingratiate himself with the conservatives. Quite a stretch van damme style!
Bill is the unhappiest "happy guy" I've ever seen.
Both are longtime standup comedians who are basically same age and run the same circuit.
Bill, please go on Jay's car show - you can bring the new car you're always complaining about. 😂
In the past three years, I've been lucky enough to have seen both of you perform standup live. Great shows! Two of the best of all time. Jay may be the classiest in the business. Another great conversation. Thanks Bill!
The kangaroo and "small person" story I had to pause the video because I couldn't breathe from laughing so hard!🤣
Finally a great conversation without Bill monopolizing the 2 hours. Obviously, his friendship and reverence for Jay is the reason, but I wish all episodes were more like this.
I love Jay and miss him so much on the Tonight Show. His humor always makes me laugh as it comes naturally. 'Headlines' and 'Jay-Walking' always had me in stitches back in the day. He should do some more Jay-Walking segments to tv.
Iron Jay im a fan. Wow your show is getting great when you have a super star/ non swearing comedian- your show just went up a level ❤
Jay is a true hero and is so polite and well mannered- things are off these days..
What an amazing person.
Jay is class a act and I miss him doing the Tonight Show. So much of it is just too silly now. Live long and prosper Jay you’re one of the good ones left.
This was my new favorite. I could listen to Bill talk to Jay for hours. Just so real!
Thanks.
An absolute Christmas present for us all! Thank you so much Bill/Clubbing Random.
Great show! Jay is a great man. Very humble and genuine. I was his driver in Cleveland once and he treated me just like he was with you. He's just Jay and that's what is so great about the guy. I really enjoyed watching this more than any of your shows. I hope he comes back soon.
Jay is one of the greatest storytellers I’ve ever heard.
Omg , Jay Leno is without a doubt the best in show biz /comedian !!
I saw Jay about a year ago with Arsenio Hall at Caesar’s Windsor and was pleasantly surprised. I laughed the whole 90 min he was on stage. 😊
That’s something considering they were rivals at one point.
That Kangaroo boxing match story almost knocked me out, I was laughing so hard 🙂
it's true about kangaroo's and fighting each other. and it would be easy to train one to punch with boxing gloves.
LOVED THIS... Enjoyed Jay and Bill telling old stories and talking about life. Jay is an amazing human and he has a brilliant mind.
I love Jay Leno his late night show was the best and his stories are endless and could write a book on the history of comedy and comedians.
Jay is a national treasure and a reminder of an America gone by.
Jay is a gem of a human, I could listen to his stories any day.
Edit. 56 min mark Sean Connery/Lana Turner & Johnny Stompanato is well worth a google search. You're welcome !
I clicked on this because I saw a clip-on Fox News. Now I can't stop watching. First time watching Bill Maher. So far so good.
This is a fresh episode of Jay. Jay’s previous EP is 131. So this is Jay’s second time with Bill.
Put that on the the cover of Duh! magazine
No duh. Haven’t missed an episode. Most great. Few stinkers mixed in.
Who asked
You can also tell because of his many injuries and that huge cast.
This is the first guest that Bill doesn't interrupt! Thank goodness bc I want to hear Jay's stories
Find an original comment to make. Or simply stop watching. This whole Bill interrupting dialogue has grown stale.
@@itsyimbo Sorry but YOU find an original comment to make. Heard this one 1000s of times as well
@sicknado good one. I’ll make a note
His impression of Sean Connerys laugh is perfect
Jay , Please write a book of show business stories. Guaranteed a best seller!
That hour and half went by quick...you can tell how much Bill admires/respects Jay.
Luved this episode.
Leno - Bill's favourite person to speak to alongside Seinfeld
Please bring Jay back every quarter! His stories are great! Had no idea that Carson had a “hit” on him. Not even in the book his lawyer wrote about him.
Honestly, only Seinfeld and Leno can make Bill behave.
Lmao great comment
Quentin T. and a few others too.
Even Bill's ad reads are entertaining. When he cuts to his adds I have no inclination to fast forward. A real intellect and show man
Wish Bill would of let Jay get the Carson hope story out
Another great episode. Bill Maher challenges us to think critically. For that I will always be grateful.
He always has new material, but with all his success still makes the same kind of jokes.
jay was the most normal of all the late night hosts. they all seem neurotic and so far left. jay seems to be a genuinely nice person.
Leno is absolutely killing it with his stories !
Always enjoy running into Jay at car shows. So glad I got to work the Tonight show(Sketches) with him. A very genuine guy.
Man I wish bill would let Jay talk...Leno was a beast on stage and doesn't get enough credit for his comedy. Funniest comic at the store behind Prior.
Love he had Jay back. ; ) Such a nice guy and devoted husband.
Jay is one of the few celebrities I admire. A great individual. Money didn’t seem to change him. Still a class act!
"Losing a hundred bucks makes you feel stupider than winning a thousand dollars makes you feel good." I've always looked for a succinct way to put into words on why I can never gamble money. This is it. Thank you Jay!
I was an investment advisor before I retired, and yes, that’s why I managed risk so carefully: because a dollar lost is 10 times as painful as a dollar gained is joyful. That’s how people are.
Maher’s thing has always been politics. That’s not new. He just finally stopped bowing down to the left.
@Jaaron91 it's sad that he now bends over for the radical right.
@@j.r.3981 I’m not sure there is a far right being that the “conspiracy theories” continue to be proven correct. Like how we now know there were over 20 feds instigating J6.
@@j.r.3981 There's no such thing as "radical right." By definition, radical implies a dramatic change. Likewise, conservative (the Right) means a resistance to needless change. Time to step out of the echo chamber and learn the nomenclature of politics.
Two guys that truly love and respect each other. What a great conversation.
1. Jay is always great!
2. Sponsorship ads are getting obnoxious Bill, put them all at the beginning or end
I fast forward past them.
