Fire Emblem Path of radiance: How to get special Characters

You have to use AR codes, you'll need "make enemies/others player controlled" always let them activated until the next base stay.
If you want to get Ashnard or Bryce then you need one more code "current level mod". activate this code until the final chapter to warp to an earlier chapter. Activate make enemies/.... and defeat Ashnard .if you want bryce only let him survive and let the code on
Getting Ashnard is a little more tricky. you have to play on hard mode. during the first battle against him you'll have to put the code on.

I have Action Replay Max. I activated the enemy control and remove discipline code before I started prologue and after I completed prologue, I didn't recruit Greil.
Do you think you can explain why the codes aren't working?

In this video you recruited the bosses after they attacked one of your units and after the enemy turns ends on seize and arrive missions.
But when Greil is an enemy the objective is to defeat the boss.
So how do I recruit Greil specifically? That's my main goal.

I could recruit him because you don't "defeat" him in the prologue chapter. You couldn't recruit a boss in a chapter where's the goal to "defeat boss". I managed to recruit Homasa in chapter 19 but i really don't know why. I would explain it that way that if you activate the code "make enemies player controlled" and kill the boss then you will recruit him if you beat the game and use the chapter warping code. But i don't know if it always works...

I guess that you're playing on the gamecube right? It should work if youre able to move enemy units when you activate "make enemies and other units player controlled". Maybe a reason why it doesn't work would be activating the "remove discipline from all" at the same time as the "make enemies...." code. The best way to recruit Greil would be to attack him with Ike and during the battle screen activate the code.

What code do you use to warp after beating the game.
Do you do the Loading file warp code or the Next Level code(In which case, I assume its done directly after beating the map.)

What is the current level mod? Can you tell it to me?
I have action replay Max 1.14A.
Also I managed to recruit Seeker(Raven Boss) in a Rout mission, by making him an ally, doing a suspend, then having him wait when I unsespended, leading the map to end.
It didn't work when I tried it with Gashilama(Boss of Makalov chapter) who was in a defeat boss chapter, I only tried once though.

the "current level mod" is a chapter skip/rewind, you can look up the codes if you want.
and all you have to do to recruit bosses you need to kill is walk up to them while they're an enemy and get ready to attack them then make them an ally and some reason they join (the first bunch of bosses randomly appear after you get the convoy but it can take longer like it did my first time i did this) but its inconsistent at times, I've had it not work at all, delay to a time (for me it took all the ones i killed and gave them all to me on chapter 16 randomly my first time) and depending on how that play through has been it tends to be consistent, if the character leaves the map they join even if after they leave, you turn them back to enemies. characters in the background will join if its on at the end of the level, characters from cut scenes join if you turn it on during the cut scene (which is how you get grail) (the cut scenes in chapter 11 don't work for some reason) sorry this explanation was so long lol

Thank you for the response.
I've done the code after attacking the boss rout maps and the boss joins me as a living playable character such as with Seeker. But oddly when I do in "Defeat Boss" missions, its never worked.
Maybe it is just trial and error.

Thank you for this video. Your tip worked. I strongly advise to NOT use the "make enemies/others player controlled" cheat code, because it will make all NPCs, even those in cutscenes, those outside of the battlefield and hidden in the map, playable. This may sound interesting, but trust me, you don't all of them in your team, because a) if there are too many, the game will crash, and b), many of them are unusable and worthless. Some of them even crash the game, if you would try to make them fight. If possible, use the other codes. Unfortunately, they don't work for me.

If they don't work for you and the "make enemies/others player controlled" cheat code works only, then make sure to kill all enemies BEFORE fighting a boss (Ashnard for example). If you don't, every single enemy on the map becomes a playable unit, if they are playable and the chapter ends. If you somehow get NPCs and enemies in your team you don't want, you can let them die on the battlefield to make space in your list.

@@dragoonsync3367 ​ It's pointless and I will explain later why. It's been a long time and I don't remember. I forgot to mention the downside of recruiting enemies or bosses: If you do, they might disappear from that chapter even after you teleport back to a previous chapter. Meaning, if the chapter requires you either defeat all enemies or only defeat the boss to end the chapter you get stuck and can't end the chapter because all enemies or only the boss is missing. Chances are if you recruit Ashnard you can't beat the game because he may be missing so you get stuck in that chapter. Therefore, if you should only recruit bosses if the chapters requires you to either seize or arrive which works with Petrine.
Here is an alternative: Trying to get the Black Knight in your team is tricky. Remember what I said previously recruiting NPCs by mistake if the code is on and use save states. Option A would be turn on the code "Make enemies player-controlled on/off" to make the Black Knight an ally. Then leave the map and he should be recruited. However, you might have recruited Ena and usless NPCs. Option B: use the debug menu (code can be found in the cutting room floor wiki > Fire Emblem Path of Radiance > Debug Menu) to stun and paralize the Black Knight, wait until the other enemies come, reduce their HP to 1 with debug menu, make sure to let Mist escape or use her if she is strong enough, quickly defeat them and turn recruit code on to shortly after initiating last attack on the last enemy. Before Phase 7 you can use the cheat code to load always your turn (link in the upper comment) and save states. You must be done before Phase 7 and make sure Black Knight turns ally before Phase 7.
