    Flawless left hand! Not one wrong note. Crisp, clean, and all the right changes. Simply wonderful. May I request " I'm Gonna Sit Right Down and Write Myself a Letter." This would be perfectly suited to your Waller style left hand.

      Thank you! Sure, I love Waller and "I'm Gonna Sit Right Down..." . I've got something I'm working on first, but I'll add it to the list.

    And there it is: the great swing feeling, just by listening I`m feeling like switching off and relax. Great as always!

    Chris, you are the beacon of truth, authenticity, purism and beauty in the sea of jazz that's long lost the True North. Lucky those who have YOU as their piano teacher.

    I wanna seek a little advice from you
    How could u like improvise the song even though songs like all of me are pretty much major chords and etc.

    • @The-Man23
      @The-Man23 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Although I think I have great ear but still can’t improvise songs and play it like pro

    • @ChrisDawsonMusic
      @ChrisDawsonMusic  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The most important things that have helped me become a better improviser are:
      (1) Listening to a lot of recordings, and trying to internalize the language of jazz (some of my favorites are Charlie Parker, Teddy Wilson, Lester Young, Louis Armstrong, and current pianists Alan Broadbent, Dick Hyman and Larry Goldings).
      (2) Spending a lot of time practicing improvising (playing long gigs as a solo pianist and in groups. Setting up jam sessions at someone's home, as well as sitting alone at the piano trying to emulate and imitate favorite musicians).
      (3) Having good teachers along the way, so I can learn from their experience and expertise.
      (4) Play, memorize, figure out by ear, and sight-read transcriptions of great solos. Also, I like to take short licks/phrases from transcriptions, and transpose them into other keys - so I can have a better understanding of jazz vocabulary.
      I hope this is helpful, and all the best with your music.
