    With 15% to 17% of the population experiencing Tinnitus and Tinnitus being a top ranked cause of disability for military veterans...the extremely inadequate competence generally within the field of audiology in treating this disorder is a crisis of major proportion.

    • @koopanique
      @koopanique 3 ปีที่แล้ว +11

      The thing is, among the 15-20% of the population that (reportedly) have tinnitus, only a tiny fraction have *bothersome* tinnitus and actually need help. So there's not that great of an incentive for companies and scientists to work on it.
      But I definitely agree, this is a public health matter, and because there's no cure, prevention and warning should be ramped up significantly so that future generations may be free of this curse.

      @@debisusan4338 According to the official stats, 98% of people habituate... So the number of people that are in heavy distress is quite smaller than the amount of people who have tinnitus but for whom it's just a minor annoyance. i got healed from tinnitus (as i can say it). i guess i was lucky of the power of attention , focus, or something like that.. doesnt mean i cannot hear it anymore. it still there if i try to hear (btw its loud)..but when i do something or focus on something, or relaxed, listenting music, vacation, eating, laughing, do normal life.. i cannot hear it 100% really.... by the way when i go to sleep, oftenly it appeared. but i just let it sound.. until i sleep. but here is the thing.. i never feel fear anymore or depressed when i hear it.. i live my amazing life.. that sound doesnt bother me (12kHz).. it started when i surrender and just accept it.. day by day i just accept it and start enjoy my life.. instead of thinking about the sound.. i think about the work i should do, my family that i should help, do kindness, and more important worship Jesus.... really.. i never feel the pain.. right now i still hear (cz im thinking of it 😄) but the feeling is just like normal when i was wihout tinnitus.. i hope you can do it.. its amazing. This is great information, thank you for sharing. It seems that the formula to follow for those of us who are new to Tinnitus is: visit an audiologist and get fitted for hearing aids, use white noise in your home (have a machine by the bed and office desk) , focus on calming the mind with meditation and exercise. And wear the hearing aids for at least 2 hours per day. Did I miss anything Ben? I'm only 4 months in, I guess I have to go the full 18 months in hopes for a full recovery.

    Dr. Ben, just started watching your videos. Enjoying them. It’s weird, I’ve had T fro a few months now only in my left ear that was caused by stress. Can stress/anxiety really cause T? Is there enough science behind this to approve/disprove this theory?
    Millions of people have high stress and anxiety yet they don’t get T. I’ve had anxiety for a decade and stress and it’s weird that it just comes about all of a sudden.
    Would love to know your thoughts if possible.

      @treblehealth  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      As long as the soil levels you are listening to are within the healthy range and not too loud, there is no risk of overusing sound therapy. Eventually, typically after a year or so, you can stop using sound therapy because you have reached the successful level that you are aiming for with your tinnitus retraining.
