- As part of my forthcoming album, I wrote Ancestral to help me sleep.
The photo was taken near my Grandmother's farm outside of Hooper, Nebraska. Her name was Kaye Benson and she's the one who convinced my parents to leave south Florida in the late 1980s to experience life in the heartland. Her home (and the land it was on) continues to be idyllic each time I return. Many of my favorite memories from childhood took place there, and the nostalgia continues to draw me back even though she's gone. What I love remembering most is how quiet things would get on summer nights. Perhaps that's what Ancestral is so simple. So soft.
I recently found a letter Grandma Kaye wrote my parents in January of 1990 just after my mom and dad had taken 4 of us kids (all under the age of 5) to Nebraska for the first time:
"David and Ariane, I saw you walking hand in hand down the front lawn and later far out into the fields. I hope you had a peaceful, tranquil walk and perceived the beauty of the clean air and green that lies beneath the crunchy brittle stacks of the earth - and that it could be yours, too."

Tony is a gift from God, how else could we be blessed with such beauty. I met Tony Anderson personally at a retreat put on by United Pursuit in TN many years ago. As a video & film maker, his music has inspired many of my projects. Whenever I search for music for a project, I always search Tony Anderson first. The texture, detail, depth, and meaning of each song is amazing. Feels like each song has its own story to tell. Oh my Goodness Tony that was incredible!!plus the story of your life back then, and hey I'll be honest I'm 69 yrs old and this made me cry like a baby, something else when I was in the Air Force and stationed at Offut AFB. in Oklahoma some friends and I drove down to Texas and got off the main roads and drove through Hooper back in 1976 not to long after I had gotten home from Vietnam, and I remember to this day how beautiful it was , one of many awesome drives that I have had the honor and pleasure to make in this great land of ours. God bless and as my Dads mom who was full blood Mandan Sioux always said after precious moments like this "Apaha se" "Amen" for we are truly blessed. Peace my Friend.

I had worked my way to up cadet major in AFJROTC in Ocala fl. So thanks for serving. Vietnam must have been unbelievable. Also I love the explanation of the Sioux word. So beautiful!
@@TonyAndersonMusic Thanks for the reply Tony it's great that you tried you should be proud of yourself for that, and yes Vietnam was all pretty bizarre I had gone to Lowry AFB up in Denver, Co. and that's where I got my training in munition maintenance, left Eglin AFB. in Ft. Walton Bch. FL. on the first thing smoking to Nam, wound up in Thon so Nhut Ab close to Saigon, then to Bien Hoa, and finished up at Korat AB. in Thailand, I went TDY the whole time I was there because I had cross trained into explosive ordinance disposal (EOD). When I got home my next ten years I literally spent going to every TAC and SAC base as an instructor, like America I've been to countless countries and cities and the world specially back then and even now the beauty of it in all it's myriad forms can be quiet breathtaking, my most favorite has to be going up Atigun Pass through the Brooks Range up in Alaska on the Dalton Hwy. that my friend was really cool. eventually you come down where you step off into another world it seems when all of a sudden you are in the tundra before ending up at Deadhorse, there at Prudhoe Bay. Once again thanks my friend and may peace be with you!

Yesterday when I heard this for the first time, I wrote a poem that no one will see. Those words I cannot repeat today. What you brought forward in me and the visions I saw, no words can describe them as clear they were to me. Words that came from somewhere sincere without asking, without preparation. They were true and I felt your sound for hours, as time disappeared.
As the truth came back and wrote down a distant dream I wish would have been true and would have been me. I can feel it again now as I write these words after, knowing I will never be able to write them again. I could almost not see while writing, as the tears kept reminding me.

If there was a genre that expresses the inner self and nature, Tony Anderson would be the first one to me. Generally, meditation music can be overly oriental or composed of bells and low bass, which can be burdensome to listen to for a long time😦
However, Tony's songs have flowing and subtle, yet majestic quality to it. I hope you can take a moment to rest and escape from the stimulating TikTok videos and Shorts...

Thanks for bringing us along on your journeys Tony A, it's wonderful to read about them and picture life in simpler times. I think as our World continues to shift in many directions some of us are trying to find our footing, trying to find our connection....away from our phones and screens, away from all the "noise" that permeates our daily life. When we look at our pasts I sometimes wonder whether past generations did the same, did they look back at the past in the same way that we do today. Did our grandparents think back to when their parents were young, did they think about the house they had, the schools they went too and the adventures they experienced.
I'm only relatively young but I find myself frightened for our future, like I've never been before. I see our older ones that were young when we were kids, getting older and passing away...realizing that in a few short years someone will be looking at me in the same way, watching me grow old and pass away. It's not a fear of death but rather a troubling realization of just how temporary and short our lives are. And this beautiful planet, the many places and people that we will never get to see or meet.
People say "live everyday like it's your last", but even then, you will never get to enjoy all this life...only a very small snapshot of it. And somewhere in the future someone will be looking at your photos of places and people and be saying..."this is where so-and-so visited"..."this was their home".
Time is a tragic thing.
