      Hey girl, I'm sorry that acne has lower your self esteem. I personally have been struggling with hormal acne for 3 months now. And I have tried few things now nothing works until I recently went and bought some Zinc tablet, I'm on Doxy abx from Dr, and been using clinic blemish range of cleanser, toner and moisture.
      I know vit C is also helpful for acne.

    I have PCOS as well /: when I was in 11th grade out of no where I started to break out a lot, gained weight, and would go on months without getting my period. It was horrible to me. So then I went from being vegetarian to vegan and let me tell you it helped me sooo much! I lost 30lbs for cutting off dairy and I started to get my period again. So point is eating healthy really did help my PCOS (: Exercising helps as well lol

      Vegan = no meat, no fish, no eggs, no dayries

      Thats because humans are not made to drink cow milk. Humans are actually lactose intolerant. We just kinda change the system by drinking cows milk. Even tho we are actually just suppose to drink milk as a child, the mothers milk.
      Cows milk was never made for us.
      You can Google it. This also explain why a lot of Asian people are lactose intolerant, since they are not used to milk like we are. If we never started to drink cows milk, all of us would be lactose intolerant too.

    The reason why birth control pills is prescribed for PCOS is not to control acne, it’s primarily to decrease your risk of endometrial cancer...please discuss with your doctor. Please upvote so other users see this. This is important.

      myspiffyrosegirl Totally agree. Although, not having your period on time may lead to polips and later on cancer, if you can find a routine that makes you have your period as close to regular as possible than u don't need birth control anymore. You girls need to figure that out with your doctor.

      These are actually for controlling acne n hirsutism . As it increases production of hormone binding globulin which binds the excess testosterone n androgens thus reducing their levela in blood n regulates the menstrual cycles n reduces acne n hair growth. As far as i know from my medical knowledge . Endometrial cancer isnt directly related to pcos but yeah ocps reduce risk of endometrial cancer but increase risk of breast c.a...

    I forgot to post my second comment on this video haha silly me. But for anyone else who may be reading these comments, another TH-camr I would HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend for not just PCOS related videos, but most things related to balancing your hormones, is Sarah's Day! I started watching her videos when I was diagnosed with hormonal acne - which for ages my GP said was just related to me being stressed, but then my dermatologist said hormonal acne can affect the chin AND ALSO the jawline and lower cheeks! And since my chin was always pretty clear, I got spots mostly on my lower cheeks, I thought it was just genetic. ALWAYS GET A SECOND OPINION GUYS. You can get hormonal acne and not have PCOS too - but I would always recommend following the same tips given by people with PCOS because it's really effective! Can't wait for more health related content, I'm obsessed with skincare atm xxx

    I’ve been having acne for almost fifteen years, and I’m pretty sure it’s hormonal. Tried everything from prescriptive topical creams, retain-a, accutane, anti-acne creams and face washes, vegan diets, all natural and organic skin care, etc. One day I was curious and talked to a medium, whom I asked about my mood swings and chronic fatigue, and she said my hormones were messed up. Said I should see a tradition doctor and get birth control pills to regulate hormones. Only took two days of birth control pills so far but I’m scared to continue because it might break me out even more? And like you said, I didn’t wanna rely on medication. BASICALLY.. I’m so desperate at this point i bought half the stuff that was mentioned in the video. Let’s see how it goes in a month!

      I know we’re all here because we’re struggling. We all have acne for different reasons, but I’ll just share some ways I personally cleared up my skin. These are things I never kept up with because my work/school schedule changes CONSTANTLY and I didn’t want my whole day to be dictated by thoughts of whether this or that will break me out. I go back to it when I need my skin cleared up quickly, but it’s just so much work:
      1. Eat super clean. Steamed vegetables and fruits for a week straight, no junk food or oily, salty stuff.
      2. Lemon water. First thing in the morning with warm water, or at least one large glass each day.
      3. Get enough sleep 🙄. So hard nowadays for everyone, I know, but my skin seems to clear up a lot more easily when I’m rested. Beauty sleep is an actual thing.
      4. Don’t touch your face, and wash your hands more often. I tried going a whole day thinking to myself not to touch my face, and I noticed I would break out less when I washed my hands more frequently. Which likely means I touched my face even without realizing it.
      5. Drink A LOT of water. Like 200 ounces or more if you can.
      6. Shower/wash your face with filtered water. I don’t have good quality water where I live so I literally bring a big cup of drinking water to the bathroom to wash my face with, and it made a pretty big difference.
      7. Stay away from dairy (esp. milk and BUTTER), SUGAR, and soda. I know it’a difficult, but those are huge triggers, for me anyway. Cutting it out from stuff we consume everyday, like sweetened coffee or tea, or butter on toast will also make you feel better too. It tastes good but it’s not necessary, and it’s bad for you anyway.
      8. Keep moving. Whatever gets you moving. Every now and when I go running, and once I’ve hit the point where I’m sweating and pushing myself, I feel really good the next day and my skin glows/looks a little clearer.

    • @xEllesirKx
      @xEllesirKx 6 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      In addition to cutting stuff out, try eating more of what I call “soothing” foods like banana, cucumbers, peppermint or green tea, fatty fish (esp. baked salmon), greek yogurt, steamed vegetables. The more colorful your salad the better. Use olive oil or coconut oil in place of other cooking oils, and use honey over sugar to sweeten tea. It takes a lifestyle change that not everyone has time or money to invest in, but do what you can and love your body and skin regardless. Positive thinking will help lessen stress, which will also reduce breakouts.

    I was diagnosed with PCOS almost 6 years ago.
    I was first prescribed progesterone pill for a year and then birth control for 4 years. I've stopped taking pills of any kind for a year now just to see if my period would come on its own, and you're totally right. *Changing your whole lifestyle and the way you eat is everything if you want to see results*
    No, you don't have to switch to being vegan or anything like that. I didn't and I've seen my period coming more frequently than it ever has before. Now, I've gotten 3 periods in half a year - which is INSANE for me! (I used to get my period once every 8 months)
    You just have to be consistent with your lifestyle changes. Sure, I relapse at times. I have a huge sweet-tooth - and I'm not putting this lightly - I'm the biggest chocolate fanatic so I occasionally cheat on my diet.
    However, this does mean reversing my PCOS is going to take that much longer, but I'd rather take things in moderation just because I know once I completely cut off something, I'm going to want it that much more. Then, that 'lifestyle change' would feel more like I'm torturing myself.
    Everyone's different, however. Just know, it's possible. It's not going to be easy. It's been a whirlwind of weight gain, anxiety, acne, slew of facial hair, and low self-esteem, but this past year of a more holistic self-care has been one of the best decisions I've ever made for both my physical & mental health.

  • @norafenyohazi8213
    @norafenyohazi8213 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Okay, I have a few things to add to this. If you have pcos, you definitely have to have yourself tested for insulin resistance because if you have pcos, you probably have IR too. In fact many doctors state that insulin resistance is the main cause of pcos therefore you can normalize your hormone imbalance with a healthy diet and exercise and by healthy diet I mean you have to keep your blood glucose level as even as possible through the day to prevent your IR (and pcos with it) turn into diabetes and severely messed up hormones. I don'r know what doctors prescribe in other countries but in Hungary you have to keep the 160 gr carbohydrate diet which can be personalised of course for your needs but the main principle of this that you can eat limited carbohydrate in smaller portions (5-6 meals a day) with 2-4 hours between them. Also you can mainly eat "slow" carbohydrate that increase your blood glucose level moderately, so you will produce less insulin and this helps you keep your blood glucose level nd insulin even. Now, you react to carbohydrate the worse in the morning and in the evening, so a smoothie is the worst you can have for breakfast and is actually not ideal at all with having IR because it's a liquid, so it increases your blood sugar level super fast and then it drops super fast, so be careful. IR diet is basically a healthy diet, yes, but you also have to keep an eye on these things too.

    All of those items are not available in our country and are probably expensive. Since I have pcos too, my period is irregular and I cannot eat a lot because I'll gain weight and if I gain weight, I'll have a very harsh and painful menstruration. I once experience this and I went immediately to my OBGYNE. This is not something you'd like to experience twice. Too bad for someone like me who loves food lol but the good thing about this is that I became concious of what I eat and of my weight.

    I was just diagnosed with PCOS a few months ago. Was given birth control pills, but I really wanna try natural remedies like ACV (which has personally proven to regulate my period), exercise, and change the way I eat (already a vegetarian, but haven't been eating too healthy). I'm still in the process of watching this video, but I cant wait to see what you did!!! ♡♡

    Omg you were diagnosed with pcos too?!?!?! I was prescribed with bc pills as well. There was a time when I stopped taking the pills and when I started to take them again my face broke out like hell. Sometimes I think it might be related to the sudden change in life/the environment we're in. I'm from a tropical country and when I moved to US my period stopped coming and I was diagnosed with pcos (meanwhile you moved from US to korea). Turned out some of my friends are experiencing this too. Anyway thank you so much for sharing this video!! I know it's hard to talk about this condition with your subscribers. This video is really helpful and informative and I'll definitely try the stuffs you recommended. Hope both of us will get better. Love you Michelle!! ❤️❤️❤️

    I don't have PCOS but I have pretty serious premenstrual dysphoric disorder, or PMDD what makes my life very hard sometimes. My doctor wanted to prescribe me pills that stop my cycle entirely to limit my symptoms... I disagreed and decided to figure out what I can do, what type of natural remedies I can find to ease my symptoms. I follow a similar diet to yours and I honestly believe this video is one of the most helpful ones that I've seen regarding the topic. I didn't know the ORAC product, I'll definitely give it a try. And I strongly advise to everybody who has problems to try yarrow ( Achillea millefolium) tea and/ or chaste berry (Vitex agnus-castus) bc these work like miracle (contains natural estrogen). But consult a specialist who knows herbs well bc yarrow can be dangerous for ppl with PCOS but chaste berry works amazingly for everybody who have period- related issues. It basically limits or even stops symptoms through managing hormonal imbalances.

    I have PCOS as well! My doctor recommended that I meet with a registered dietician to learn how to eat because having PCOS can raise your risk of diabetes, and it's helped a LOT! Eating like a diabetic does not mean you must cut out dairy and red meat, but if it is what has helped with your skin, I say go for it!!! I just can't give up up my chocolate and cheeseburgers :)

    • @user-mj7ok3vu2j
      @user-mj7ok3vu2j 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ty for this!! I feel like so many of these types of videos talk about cutting out dairy, but I’d rather not 😅 plus there are mixed studies about dairy being inflammatory even though I know it’s like the general popular to-go knowledge that it should be one of the 1st foods to be cut off for acne. But I’ve seen like articles that were written in 2020 (based off recent studies) saying that’s it’s actually not really like that as much as it’s like “common knowledge” but yeah ofc listen to your own body, everyone’s unique. I know it works for some people 👍😁

    • @user-mj7ok3vu2j
      @user-mj7ok3vu2j 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Also, if you don’t mind sharing, is there anything really important/biggest thing you have you learned from your dietician? Been watching a lot of videos recently about insulin resistance and the insulin index (as opposed to the glycemic index) etc. Thank you!!

      @@user-mj7ok3vu2j My dietician taught me how to carb count! I've been successful with it because I am very disciplined when it comes to my diet and exercise. Diabetes is a horrible disease, and I refuse to ever get it. My gyno had recommended taking Metformin for my blood sugar when I was first diagnosed, and I was like wtf no I'm only 23, I'll manage it through diet and exercise and see. So my dietician said you STILL need to consume carbs for every meal because if you don't, some other organ can fail and can still lead to diabetes. I forgot if it was the liver or the kidneys or whatever (this was 10 years ago), but basically, that can cause diabetes in some weird reversed sort of way? Anyways, she said for every 15g of carbs, consume 7g of protein and however much fiber you can get (and lots of veggies of course) If what you eat has at least 4g of fiber, you can take half of that and subtract from the number of grams of carbs. So for example, if what you ate has 10g of fiber and 20g of carbs, you can subtract half of the fiber, which is 5, from the total grams of carbs. So your carb count decreases to 15g. Protein and fiber are the best in keeping your blood sugar levels steady, but protein is better than fiber if you have to choose. She also said the recommended amount to consume is 45g of carbs per meal. So that turns into 21g of protein per meal. I was very anal about it so I used the MyFitnessPal app to record what I ate to make sure I was getting the right amount every time. Having that visual of showing you what you've consumed also kind of forced me to cook at home more often. One time I put in what I ate at Cheesecake Factory, and I was like omg wtf when I saw what I had eaten. I remember I put in some fried mac and cheese ball appetizer into the app, and it was like 1,000 calories, and I was like HOLY SHIT lol that's just the appetizer. My cholesterol has gone up as a result of this because I'm NOT vegetarian though, and I'm very mindful of making sure I eat protein with carbs always. So if I'm eating pasta, I add chicken. If I eat a banana, I pair it with peanut butter. I've been doing this for 10 years so I'm able to eyeball it now. I remember how overwhelmed I felt meeting with the dietician, but I'm so glad I did it. My blood sugar levels and insulin resistance have been in the normal range ever since. Now I just gotta control my cholesterol.....lol. I highly recommend meeting with a dietician because she debunked a lot of things I thought I was supposed to do (like not consuming any carbs, which is so bad for you). It was a huge game changer for me, and I'm so grateful my doctor recommended it. Another thing that I find has helped me personally is exercising in the evening. I'm not a morning person, which is a huge reason why I workout at night, but it burns up carbs I've consumed throughout the day so my blood sugars are leveling out by the end of the day. I know what I said makes it sound like you have to change your life around, but it's a marathon, not a sprint. I've been doing this since 2012. My routine now is home cooked meals only Mon-Thurs and free for all Fri-Sun. I workout 3-4x/week so that's why I feel like I can treat myself on weekends lol

      @@smackytall omggg thank you so much for your wealth of knowledge!! I really appreciate how thoroughly you wrote it out with the examples of how you can subtract half of the fiber intake from your overall carbs, that was super helpful!! I’m just so sorry my response is so short 😅 but I’m really grateful, thank you so so so much!! Yeah that is really a bad and persistent notion that everything carbs needs to be cut out when we need it to function; I mean it’s one of the 3 macronutrients and how our bodies like to get their fuel. I did not know that cutting it out entirely could lead to organ failure; that’s very serious and scary! Definitely good to know; I was considering doing Keto, but I also thought that it’s not something you can do long term, and I want to make a sustainable lifestyle change. Thank you, I will definitely look into finding a dietician asap. There’s so much info out there, but it also can be so confusing and quite an overload to digest, not to mention that there is a lot of erroneous info out there. And I really like how your routine is super balanced too. Going to take this to heart and implement a lot of this. I hope you have a wonderful weekend and take care!! ☺️🌻

      @@user-mj7ok3vu2j of course!!!! Dietitians have always said any fad diet out there, like Keto, is not ideal. It’s really all marketing to make you buy their product lol…and be honest with the dietician. If you feel like carb counting is not a realistic method for you, tell them, and they can help find another way! I was super intense about it so that’s why it worked for me, but I can understand it isn’t for everyone

    Try borage oil in place of fish oil for omega 3s. It's also high in GLA. Honestly this is all I take and my hormones have been significantly more balanced. I'm vegan so fish oil was never an option for me. I found borage oil while doing research on herbs to balance my hormones naturally
