    Would the positive feedback loop created during childbirth be an example of hypersecretion of oxytocin?

      Yes

    • @yngfljm2277

      hypersecretion would indicate an abnormal amount of oxytocin being released, so I don't think so, since the positive feedback loop would be working as intended.

    If one is low in calcium or other electrolytes, can the hypothalamus inhibit Oxytocin production?

    • @nicholastaranto6466
      @nicholastaranto6466 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      My guess is oxytocin would be the least of your worries if your plasma levels of calcium or other electrolytes are very low (especially if this is associated with severe dehydration). But rather than the hypothalamus actively inhibiting OT due to the deficiency, I would say that the nerve conduction would be impacted and therefore result in sub-optimal OT secretion + signalling. Fear, anxiety and stress (and the pathways associated) can inhibit OT synthesis, however.

    Intercorse in the mid of 2nd trimester can cause utrine contration and harm for baby to cause miscarriage due to oxytocin that naturally release during foreplay????

    • @hassantimilehin7643
      @hassantimilehin7643 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Progesterone is secreted all through the pregnancy state. Progesterone demodulates Oxytocin receptor, ensuring carrying the baby till term if there are no precipitating factors that can induce Labor.
      During Labour, there's an abrupt drop in Progesterone, and concomitant peak in oestrogen. This modulates the action of Oxytocin receptor, and causes expulsion of the products of conception.
