I can see this channel easily becoming huge. With Donut falling fast this channels editing style reminds me of the old donut as well as the people. I love it.
Something felt different about this, the editing and overall setup seems like it’s hit a little sweet spot. Not that it wasn’t good already but you can really go places with this kind of format, genuinely love watching you guys so thanks for what you do.
The RX7 kind of looks like the offspring of the Miata and the Z. Fun video, look forward to seeing the progress and the trip. The dragon is an awesome place.
My first car was an RX-7 that I bought off a friend, but sadly never got to drive it. I bought it for about $700 knowing there was a bit of trouble with the engine. but didn't think it'd be too bad. My best friend's dad was a Porsche mechanic and he agreed to take a look, and then broke the bad news to me that the engine was shot. I wish I would've scrimped and saved to get a new engine, but I needed a car pretty quick, so I picked up a used '93 Saab 9000 CDE (with a broken turbo) that had a for sale sign in a grocery store parking lot. Two completely different animals, but I ended up really enjoying the quirky Saab. One day I'd like to pick up an old RX-7 and fix it up though. I feel like I missed out on a potentially really cool first car after I've learned more about them over the last couple years.
Man, I absolutely wish you guys the best. First video of yours I’ve seen pop up in my feed and I dug it. Hope the algorithm treats you well and you get the recognition you deserve.
Sick new video!! I’m at a tattoo convention all weekend but had to slip away to the hotel room to watch the new video and it did not disappoint! Look forward to this series!
The Datsun is my favorite of these just because of nostalgia. In the 80's a buddy of mine used to have one and in the summertime, we would go everywhere in that thing. Fun time.
Learned to drive in my grandfather's 280Z, owned a 80 RX7, currently have an Infiniti G37 Coupe (Z components), and have always wanted a Miata -- oh, and just looked at your channel, other vehicle I learned to drive in was a Chevy Luv -- subscribed, you guys are awesome! --- Put a turbo in that RX7 man!
by far my favourite is the Datsun, and for it, i would also maybe recommend seeing how some aftermarket foglights look on it, might help with night visibility since the current light situation is cutting off your direct line of sight
Very excited to see more of this series. I’m currently upgrading my 260z wiring harness with a painless wiring kit. Japanese wiring from the 70s is so different from today’s standards.
After a couple years annually doing the dragon in my crx. Brakes, clutch and oil consumption are the 3 major things overlooked on old cars in the mountains. Make sure to check out other roads in the area. They're just as fun and faster
I have 2 of the cars in the video sorta... I have a restored 74 260z with a 1jzgte swap and to many other mods to list and I have a 84 rx7 with a ported s5 rotary engine that I'm turning into a road race track car, has a widebody kit 10in wide tire all 4 coners everything new or upgraded... The other cars should be fine with basic up keep and preventative maintenance. The rotary on the other hand..keep a set of fresh spark plugs with you and make sure your cooling system is heavily upgraded. I would recommend a front mount oil cooler because 12a's came with the honeycomb style oil coolers which isn't to good for hard driving..
I can’t wait for more content, I had a 280z, 280zx turbo and a Miata and my Brother had a ‘79 RX7 the thing revved like crazy. The Z is my favorite, but the Miata will be a lot of fun. I think making them all reliable will be the key, should be a wild ride, I’ll be watching as so as it comes out.
Another great video. I really like y’all’s content. I know jack about cars (I drive a Prius) but I for some reason love videos about it the stuff. I started watching Gears and Gasoline a few years back and stumbled onto your channel about a month ago. I’ve watched most of your content and look forward to more. I really enjoy the 30+ minute videos like the recovery of the truck and the Craigslist buys. Hoping you guys do some lengthy build series in the future. Keep it up!
You nailed that intro 👌 Miata is the best car of the group, just needs suspension & tires. SA RX-7 is my favorite but a 12a really needs at least a bridge port to be worthwhile. Be careful in that Z man ... 😆
I love my 87 nissan pulsar, easily my favorite car and I'm going to be building a Sr20de for it hopefully over the winter I can't wait to see your builds unfold!
240z is my favorite…I do have 2 of them😂 Make sure you swap out every bushing, I’d swap out the LCA’s as well as tie rods and get something that’s going to make handling better, plus if you can get an LSD you’d be golden! New subscriber right here!
Z all the way but the 7 could be interesting to watch. If you just want to try re-greasing the bushings on the Miata...I had a '97 STO that I put full poly bushings in and I used Super Lube (buy tubes at Menards)...never a squeak. Use them with the inner sleeves, where they contact brackets, etc.
The Miata and RX7 (especially those generations) are my favorites in this line up. Although... I also have a thing for 240Z... Maybe because The Devil Z and Wangan Midnight Tune 3 I used to play at arcades when I was a junior high schooler? Maybe... Or, let's just say I love all the cars here 😂 Good luck to all of you ✌️
Let's be real, the one thing these cars are going to need before the trip is a good oil change, don't want to send a rod through the block while having fun. Trust me, I almost did it once while autocrossing, not enjoyable
Definitely the Rx-7, you don't see enough FB's, the FD gets all the attention plus their stoopid money. Look forward to seeing what Scott does to it, and you've had 55 of em?! Good grief 😮
Stock mani and Nikki needs to go on that 12a. Best thing i ever did with my FB (i know thats an SA) was swap to a sidedraft Mikuni 44 and do a full RB exhaust. Picked up SO much power it was night and day the difference. The carb/intake flowed so good, youd run into the natural redline of a stockport 12a around 8600rpm because the stock intake ports cant physically flow more air lol.
Great choices. Two girlfriends owned 2 of your choices ( Dena - 1982 RX7 and Lauren - 1972 Datsun 240z ) I enjoyed driving both cars. No experience with a Miata. Personally, I would go with my beloved 1981 Nissan 200SX (2nd Gen) with the Z20s and a 5 speed. I loved that car too much. BTW Dena is now my wife of 40+ years ;) Cheers guys.
larger radiator and oil cooler. fresh engine, trans, and diff oil. Possibly a proper tune. Remember those elevation changes. those n/a engines will have some trouble.
I traded my Sileighty for an RX8 and rebuilt the engine. Rotary Resurrection did an awesome job. Check out the Deals Gap Rotary page for the next rotary dragon run. We have taken my wife's new Beetle convertible to the dragon's tail for one of their meets that was at the same time as the rotary meet so since I made her a car person with her car, we went with her gang. I'm hoping to have my RX8 ready for the next one in the spring. I love that thing.
Loved this video, definitely need a full overlook of the Miata especially turbo build wise that would lean me towards getting one for my 96, all I’ve done is racing beat intake, yonaka exhaust, short throw shifter, and some Konig 15x6.5 on some Toyos but I will say the go to for Miata’s are the enkie rpf1
Local to the dragon would love to see the cars in person and show some other roads in the close area. Planning to keep watching and hopefully meet when you guys take the trip.
Boys! Love the video and concept. Ya mind telling the audience where it is located and maybe when (how long do You plan to spend getting ready and how long of a trip) on this tail of dragon?? Thx and keep Doing what you’re doing!
Pro tip when pushing/moving cars: Push it by rolling the wheels. You’ll get your hands dirty, but the tires give you a mechanical advantage making it much easier to move the vehicle. (This is assuming your not stuck in mud or something)
Yo! I’m from Massillon, OH! I cruise with some good people up here! I have a 1996 Toyota rav4 2-door 5 speed! You guys should stop by the Maize valley car show sometime, every Thursday from 3ish-8pm! Then we get food after!
I will say, Tail of the Dragon pales in comparison to New Zealand's southern Island. Mainly because their roads are more insane and they have 65mph speed limits
don't forget that BMW now also has subscription based suspension and handling. You buy the suspension with the car, but they don't let you adjust it unless you pay them a monthly subscription.
I can see this channel easily becoming huge. With Donut falling fast this channels editing style reminds me of the old donut as well as the people. I love it.
donut isn't falling, they've fallen. Otherwise I agree, I hope this channel finds success.
@itsdoodle6496 this channel is going to get huge. As long as greed and egos don't clash.
indeed, im happy to be here early and i love these guys
I was thinking the same thing, this channel reminds me of donut in the early days!
This gives massive Old Top Gear meets old Donut vibes
Fr
2:12 lmaooo the braps got me good
poor guy 😭
Something felt different about this, the editing and overall setup seems like it’s hit a little sweet spot. Not that it wasn’t good already but you can really go places with this kind of format, genuinely love watching you guys so thanks for what you do.
The RX7 kind of looks like the offspring of the Miata and the Z. Fun video, look forward to seeing the progress and the trip. The dragon is an awesome place.
I mean im sure you already know the fb is older than the miata but i can see it

Much better than any American Top Gear has ever been
This channel will certainly grow.
Fingers crossed!
Man, I absolutely wish you guys the best. First video of yours I’ve seen pop up in my feed and I dug it. Hope the algorithm treats you well and you get the recognition you deserve.
My brother had an RX7 like that growing up what a fun little ride making the most out of those horses!
Definitely! Not too many horses to go around! 🤣
Best video yet, very well made. Keep it up!
Thank you! Will do!
still waiting to see cameraman's 91 BMW 👀
I even forgot about that😂
It makes an appearance at 15:07
The tailpipes on the datsun looks fantastic
You guys have great comradery. Enjoy the moments and never lose that.
So freaking glad I found this channel. Team Rx7 +1
Fun time.
Way cool I lived minutes from the dragon in my early 20s best times I ever had in my 92 ford Taurus SHO
Are you now a fan of all things Yamaha?
I enjoy your content, keep it coming. It would seem that TH-cam is leaning either long form auto or tick tock style nonsense. I hope you guys flourish

The “Shut up and take my money!” Meme gets me every time!
Can you have the Luv as the camera car? LOL
Your guys' content just keeps getting better! Stoked on this new series, big love from Australia.
I’m so excited for this series!! All the best to y’all! 😊
Been trying to catch up on all of y'alls videos. One of my favorite channels now. Excited to see what's coming!
After a couple years annually doing the dragon in my crx. Brakes, clutch and oil consumption are the 3 major things overlooked on old cars in the mountains. Make sure to check out other roads in the area. They're just as fun and faster
What a tease, can't wait for the subsequent videos!
Highlight of my Friday night. Nice job, guys.
Thank you! 🤙
The mazada easily i have a soft spot for basically any model
Great Intro for the series guys.
First cars I can remember my dad having were a 77 280Z then a 82 RX7.
Goes without saying I’m excited to see this!

Idk how y’all down have more followers. Got great chemistry and your videos are always fun.

I had a ‘73 240Z in AZ. I wish I still had it. Looking forward to upcoming episodes
Just discovered this channel, I saw your ramp truck video and instantly subscribed. Very excited for this series!
My uncle John had the same exact RX-7.... Nostalgia man
So excited for this one. You guys are the best!!!
You nailed that intro 👌
Miata is the best car of the group, just needs suspension & tires. SA RX-7 is my favorite but a 12a really needs at least a bridge port to be worthwhile. Be careful in that Z man ... 😆
Right on! The 12a is ported also 😎
My brother has a 1980 10th anniversary rx7 and a 280zx were building. I can't wait to finally see some good 1st gen rx7 content !
First video I have seen from this channel you guys got something dope going! Earned a sub for sure
I love me a nice rx7 sry boys but them rotary engines are quick
I love my 87 nissan pulsar, easily my favorite car and I'm going to be building a Sr20de for it hopefully over the winter
I can't wait to see your builds unfold!
Dude Scott pushing his car got me 😂
Subscribed, love all 3 of these cars, and want to own all of them in my lifetime.
My favorite has got to be the 240Z. The styling, coupled with the I6 is just glorious
240z is my favorite…I do have 2 of them😂
Make sure you swap out every bushing, I’d swap out the LCA’s as well as tie rods and get something that’s going to make handling better, plus if you can get an LSD you’d be golden! New subscriber right here!
I've done US-129 in a Miata and on a Virago 1100. Both were outrageously fun!
2 Classic cars.. and a Miata! The 240Z (done up) is one of the best looking cars around. :)
The Miata and RX7 (especially those generations) are my favorites in this line up. Although... I also have a thing for 240Z... Maybe because The Devil Z and Wangan Midnight Tune 3 I used to play at arcades when I was a junior high schooler? Maybe...
Or, let's just say I love all the cars here 😂 Good luck to all of you ✌️
Great range of cars, looking forward to this series
love the top gear style intro
Keep up the good work fellas, love the content and crews dynamic 🤙🏻
Such a good video! I can’t wait to see what’s next! 🐉
The rx7 is def my favorite i would love to see some modifications to the rotary to make it more spicy
Let's be real, the one thing these cars are going to need before the trip is a good oil change, don't want to send a rod through the block while having fun. Trust me, I almost did it once while autocrossing, not enjoyable
probably some gear oil too. Don’t want transmissions/rear ends blowing out… especially if the driveshaft slides out. 😬
Definitely the Rx-7, you don't see enough FB's, the FD gets all the attention plus their stoopid money.
Look forward to seeing what Scott does to it, and you've had 55 of em?! Good grief 😮
Content and chill is fantastic. More turbo hole noises pls
Lets gooo, this is gonna be a great series

Ohhhhh this is gonna blow up the channel soon, hopefully.
For me, my favorite is the Z.
Jajjajajjajaja great cars, but lots of work!
Love the top gear energy
LETS GOO ANOTHER VIDEO MY DAY IS COMPLETE
2 minutes in, and I'm hooked. Great stuff guys
this is pretty wild production for a 12k subscriber channel, look forward to future uploads 🤟🏼
eff yeah I'm here for this.. I love it guys
You absolutely need good brakes & good tires for the dragon
I would help but I don’t want to ruin the shock lmaooo
Boys! Love the video and concept. Ya mind telling the audience where it is located and maybe when (how long do
You plan to spend getting ready and how long of a trip) on this tail of dragon?? Thx and keep

I'm most excited for the RX7
I would love to see more content working on the RX7
I have an NA6 love 240Zs, but have to give it to the SA22C RX-7. Such a cool car 👌 pity they are so expensive in Australia
So we've heard! Are they hard to come by over there?
For Miata you might want to get a hard top so that nobody tries to just cut the soft top and steal things or the car.
I'm going with the Datsun because I have a 280z that I've been working on and off for 12 years 😓🥲😅
Love the content coming from you guys man. Wish I was more mechanically inclined! Lol.
Gotta put some ratty old racing seats in them to complete the cheap sports car look lol
Who’s up tailing their dragon rn?
don't forget that BMW now also has subscription based suspension and handling. You buy the suspension with the car, but they don't let you adjust it unless you pay them a monthly subscription.
When this channel blows up remember me… or not, you don’t have to
I got an 84 gsl rx7. Love it and would never get rid of unless i have to
5 speed swap that RX7!
I have a 280z and I love it, it’s a rust bucket but it’s a awesome car!
The intro was killer!
Take the Chevy Love there!
At the start i was like damn where tf the skip timer - fair plaaaaay
Favorite car is prob a Mercedes 190E or a Volvo 240
Brooo you had me with the bridge port rx7 I was like so happy then you took it away 😢❤
the rx7 will be the best one
