Yup. Never even personally cared for the Shenmue games and haven’t even played III. BUT-I knew HOW SPECIAL those games were to a number of people who had largely given up hope that it was EVER coming back, at this point. So to see that dream come true (even though it wasn’t my own) in real-time was AMAZING.

part 3 wont take that long. most of the assets are there, such as the character models, animations. most of the world is done. combat is done, vehicles done. they will probably tweak combat. Most of the work to be done will be cinematic scenes. new areas such as under the sea and northern creator will require a lot of new effects and creatures. the voice actors and such will be working too. but there is no transition to a new console this time. pretty sure it'll be less than 2 years. most development time is taken is planning and building the systems and testing it, such as the combat and the interface for example. they'll probably tweak it but they're not making it from scratch. they also had to build their in house tools to work on unreal engine 4 but they dont need to do that either.

If you follow any of their other streams (that I post on my channel), you will see their 2nd last stream called "Dumb game monday" which they do just after noon. At the end of that stream, Kyle signed off saying "see you next week" He didn't know at the time. A couple of hours after that stream ended they found out that gametrailers is shutting down and this was their last day at work.

And half life 2 can't be improved that easily so they can probably leave it for what it is right now. In a way I don't even want a new half life, the first one wasn't even good I only liked the second one. And maybe the last part of the first game, but before you got there it was pretty bad. There were much better FPS games back then: red faction / time splitters 2 or 3 etc (compared to HL1).

As a Shenmue fan myself, this never ceases to bring tears of joy to my eyes. Huber is so overwhelmed, so were all of us. This is why video games are so special.

This was probably the greatest 1-2 punch in E3 history. FFVII had a rabid fandom surrounding rumors of it being remade for going on a decade at this point. Shenmue III, while not NEARLY close to the same level of popularity, ALSO had a rabid fandom that had all but given up hope at that point that Yu Suzuki’s sweeping epic would ever be completed. Getting just ONE of these announcements in an E3 press conference would’ve been enough to shoot it to legendary status, let alone both. Add in a healthy little sprinkling of The Last Guardian still being alive and coming to PS4 and you have one of the WILDEST E3 conferences EVER.
For those that don’t know Huber reactions were even better because days prior he was talking about how he would love a ff7 remake and shenmue 3 even though shenmue 3 was near impossible

+Mark Misa Kind of. They were actually going about their normal work day when they found out. If you follow any of their other streams (that I post on my channel), you will see their 2nd last stream called "Dumb game monday" which they do just after noon.
At the end of that stream, Kyle signed off saying "see you next week" He didn't know at the time. A couple of hours after that stream ended they found out that gametrailers is shutting down and this was their last day at work.

Beerlover2007 All old games that get a remake or another title to their series. Were are the new ideas? Shenmue is also too long ago. And half life 2 can't be improved that easily so they can probably leave it for what it is right now. In a way I don't even want a new half life, the first one wasn't even good I only liked the second one. And maybe the last part of the first game, but before you got there it was pretty bad. There were much better FPS games back then: red faction / time splitters 2 or 3 etc (compared to HL1).
I'm so happy that despite GT being gone this got saved.

Same here. For me on the original PlayStation it’s the greatest game I’ve ever played. I remember all the way back in 1997 spending hours on this game, staying up to 2 or 3am just levelling up and finally completing the story.
Whenever I'm having a low day I come here and watch this. No matter how many times I see this I still grin from ear to ear. Thank you Gametrailers/Easy Allies for the good feels.

As a Shenmue fan myself, this never ceases to bring tears of joy to my eyes. Huber is so overwhelmed, so were all of us. This is why video games are so special.
Coming back to this after the launch and still.....no game ever has made the world feel this way.

This was probably the greatest 1-2 punch in E3 history.
FFVII had a rabid fandom surrounding rumors of it being remade for going on a decade at this point.
Shenmue III, while not NEARLY close to the same level of popularity, ALSO had a rabid fandom that had all but given up hope at that point that Yu Suzuki’s sweeping epic would ever be completed.
Getting just ONE of these announcements in an E3 press conference would’ve been enough to shoot it to legendary status, let alone both.
Add in a healthy little sprinkling of The Last Guardian still being alive and coming to PS4 and you have one of the WILDEST E3 conferences EVER.
Still coming back to this in 2023 to feel the purest of joy!
