It is plain to see how hiking, in general, and the AT in particular, has changed your life. You would say; changed for the better and I agree. IMO, When you hiked the AT, you were searching. While hiking the PCT, you discovered a capacity for love and a way to understand compromise. In today’s video we saw you can openly share passion, love and purpose. It has been a joy to watch your journey and your growth. I look forward to your next video.
It’s just absolutely wonderful for my heart to see so many people pitching in to clean the trail! Although I can’t get there to do that I have donated financially. Thank you for showing us the carnage from the hurricane and the beautiful way it’s getting fixed.
Your last 3 videos have been awesome! Showing the behind the scene action of maintaining the trail and giving attention to the men and women that make it all possible. Plus, pitching in yourself to clear the trail ,truly great stuff.
Another great video my friend. Very much appreciated. Also appreciate that you filmed Mountain Harbour in Roan Mtn in your previous video. I was there during the flood. Was surprised your video didn't show anyone working there. Really great that you jumped in. You're awesome and amazing.!!!!! I'm 74...can't do trail maintenance, but I have sent some geld ($$$ to ALDHA) to help everyone down there.
I can identify with the man running the chainsaw at 12:41. I've had my saw stuck a few times myself lol. Thank you for sharing your time doing trail maintenance. Don't make us wait too long for your next vlog 😢. Wishing you and all of your followers a happy Thanksgiving.
Thanks so much for going down and helping out with all the trail maintenance efforts. It is amazing to see what they actually have to do and how far they have to hike in, with their gear to clear the trail. Safe travels home. Just a note, we like to listen to you talk about most anything. Have a great Thanksgiving.
My goal was hiking the AT in 2025, but financially wasn't ready, hopefully 2026 will be the year.❤ Thank you to all the people who are helping with the trail and towns.
Mountain people have never been afraid of hard work, it’s how they make a living. And as you see they are also very resilient and don’t get all down they just pick up the chain saws and go to work like any other day. They don’t quit. A lot of those people are of Scots and Irish ancestry. They don’t mind help as long as at some point they can help you. My family 3 generations and on back for 200 years is from the NC mountains. I’m really thankful you took time to help out, you could have just sent money but when you spend your time, blood and sweat you are the real deal. And you are the real deal. You’re now family to those folks and don’t take that lightly as it isn’t given lightly. I’m interested to see what’s next. Safe travels and Happy Thanksgiving!😅
Have you thought about hiking the "Blue Hills" segment of the Ice Age Trail? It is absolutely fantastic. The felsenmeer portion is particularly beautiful.
You’re the best, Roadrunner! I’ve stayed at Boots Off more than once and they’re just the best… as are you and all the trail maintainers. Glad to get a sneak shot of Somewhere! 💙🐦
Well, you have found what makes you truly happy...when you started hiking the PCT you had a lot of questions about your future and what you wanted to do. I see Ranger Roadrunner or something in the Park Services in your future. They say to find what you love and make a living out of it. You're glowing when you're outdoors or at the hostels helping out, etc.
Thank you Road Runner for all that you have done helping with the cleanup of the AT after such destruction. Very admirable of you. Like always, as with your content, you always seem to amaze. KUDOS...! Trail maintenance crossin...!
Morning, Juliane. Thanks for helping with restoring the trail for 2025 and beyond hikers. It's gonna look very different for quite a while. You worked very hard, and I'm sure you used muscles you didn't know you had. It is definitely hard work. Thanks for encouraging next year's hikers and for reminding them that the hostels and trail towns need their support. Be careful on your drive home. Take care. Stay safe. See you next time.
Yes, three days of trail maintenance reminds you of muscles you rarely use. Thanks for heading out and giving the maintenance crews some help. Maybe you can save a day each month to help the crews in your local area, that's how I plan, but I end up adding days just because I enjoy the workout and the people. It's fun to hike a piece of trail you've worked and meet people you worked with on different trails. Have a great Thanksgiving coming up!
Trail maintenance is a tough job.. Here in Ohio, we have the Buckeye trail, which circles the entire state. The North country trail and American discovery trail intersect the BT and travel together in some areas. I maintained a 3 mile section of trail by myself for 5 years.. It took every weekend all summer long to keep up on it. Trail maintainers are the unsung heroes of all trails.. It ain't easy..
I agree 💯. Everyone should be encouraged to continue with their AT plans. Reroutes will likely happen but go forth. Excited for the class of 2025. It’s been a great mini series RR. Continued happy trails.🤘🏻🥾⛰️
Thank you for helping clearing the AT! I'm impressed you were able to do this work! Please hike and film around Vermont. I'm certain there many books 📚 on the different adventures you can go on in that area. 😊 Have Fun and be safe!😅
That is a lot of hard work you and the other maintenance crews have done on the AT! Kudos! 👏 💐 You could get a dashcam that has a forward facing and cabin facing camera for talking while you drive. 😊 I got 1 on Amazon for pretty cheap. And the forward facing is a good safety feature in case you're ever in a crash and need evidence that the driver ahead of you is an idiot 😉
I apologise , I make friends pretty easily too . Boss bay bird call . They have utube paint hike or hike paint or something. Glad there making it this winter too .
I've done that drive up 81 to Albany and into Vermont that I'm absolutely sick of it, and I'm glad you aren't showing it. An awful lot of that ride is pretty dreadful. Way too many humans on the roads.
15:39 Don't worry about what people think. I enjoy your driving vlogs. Some people are just born to complain. They would complain if they were hung with a brand new rope.
I am a bit irritated with Pisgah National Forest. What is the deal with this area being the only one closed? Honestly, I think they want to study it and send it to another committee. Our beloved AT is struggling to recover, but it seems like this one place has got the brakes on!
Ha! That land belongs to the Olmecs. The Olmecs Heads were used as markers of the African discovery and colonization of America. (Olmecstan) Their descendants include the Meso American 5 Civilized tribes to include the Cherokee who arrived from Mexico. Da, Africans discovered the Nuevo Mundo. We leave you to then for further edification. ( I think the tree looked Irish.)

I enjoyed meeting you. Thank you very much for helping us clear the trail. Please come back anytime!
This has been an excellent mini series. Thank you for the work you have put in and highlighting the efforts of the AT community to restore the trail.
You have changed so much since I first saw your blogs of the AT! And it’s all good! Wonderful transformation. 👏👏🙏🏻
Roadrunner you are an awesome lady and being out there giving back to the hiking community is perfect for you.....

Very thoughtful of you to help fix the damage done. You are appreciated ❤
Good on you for giving time to help with trail maintenance. Your message to 2025 class was spot on. 👍🏻
Thank you for posting your adventures. You start my day and make my heart smile!

I really enjoyed this mini series - it's amazing to see how trail maintenance happens.

Very interesting. Thanks for sharing. The devastation is unreal!!!!!!!
Thanks for sharing your trail maintainer experience, a lot of hard work esp. after this devastation. Have a safe drive back home.

I’m coming back to the AT in 2025 and have been watching you since the beginning. Thank you very much.

I am excited to watch an AT thru hiker next year to see all of the changes.

Safe travels home. You are such a inspiration so I just wanted to say thank you
Proud of YOU..giving back....great feeling to give rather than receive..later
Nice video. Try working a heavy construction site in the summer. We often put in 12 hour days. Happy Trails. Have a safe trip. Good Luck, Rick

Wow that is a big mess from one storm! I see a lot of difficult and dangerous cutting out there.Good luck to everyone doing that work!

It was very rewarding
Just met a guy on trail that said he came out of the boots off camp he was headed south out of Partnership Shelter
Hiking on the AT❤❤❤
Thank you for showing us the trail and of all of y’all working on it!
People are so nice!!!
❤
I apologise , I make friends pretty easily too . Boss bay bird call . They have utube paint hike or hike paint or something. Glad there making it this winter too .
Julianne, have you ever working/volunteering for the ATC? The ATC has a bad wrap, but I think you would be a great advocate for it.
I've done that drive up 81 to Albany and into Vermont that I'm absolutely sick of it, and I'm glad you aren't showing it. An awful lot of that ride is pretty dreadful. Way too many humans on the roads.
Wow, wish I could hike with y'all with my small Stihl 👣🤔😎
Would love to have you move to Tennessee.
Forget CrossFit, do trail maintenance.
15:39 Don't worry about what people think. I enjoy your driving vlogs. Some people are just born to complain. They would complain if they were hung with a brand new rope.
Was all the work done when you left or is there still work to be done?
Still a lot to be done
