- These are all of my tips on how to have less pain during injection of progesterone in oil injections. I struggled so much with the pain during the progesterone in oil injection, and then I got so sore the next day! Now that I've been doing these progesterone in oil shots for a few weeks, I'm having less pain during the injection and less pain the next day. I really wanted to make this video for those of you struggling with lots of pain with these injections. I've picked up on some tips that have really helped me have less pain overall!

These are so difficult to endure, so if I can make your life a little bit easier and less painful, then I have done my job with this video.

I’m so glad that I found this video. I just started PIO injections! My butt is so incredibly sore and I have about 55 more injections to go ……. I just had Frozen Embryo Transfer on 6/25/24. They said our embryo was beautiful. We have a lot riding on this little one. It’s our only one from our 2nd ER. 💓💓

I wish you talked more about the site and how to find it. I’m finding that no one really talks about it enough, and I just realized 2 weeks later that I was kinda going too low on the buttock. It literally has to be basically in the hip closer to low back than mid buttock. I’ve seen pictures before where the buttock gets divided into 4 squares equally, but that was incorrect, as the middle line has to go across where the top of the butt crack ends
You are a life saver! I am two days in to these daily shots. I saw a recommendation to numb the area when I was doing my stim shots but since these shots are IM and you want your muscle relaxed I wasn't sure if icing it would be okay. Ice helped so much with the stim shots. I am totally going to try it with these too. Also! My needles are 20 gauge, and my husband hadn't noticed the 22 gauge in the packaging until I saw this video and he double checked! He feels terrible haha! We will def also warm up the oil! You're so strong to be able to have done all the shots yourself!
Aww I’m so so glad I could help you with those!! And yeah girl, there’s a HUGE difference in the size of those needles!! It’s very disappointing the fertility clinics don’t make sure you know that ahead of time; that the 20g is for drawing up the progesterone and the 22g is for injecting.

Getting ready for my FET. I start the PIO in 2 weeks. Needles don't bother me (have like 100 tats lol), but I was nervous about this injection. Great video thank you 😊

I wonder tho since the syringe is plastic, if we warm up the plastic syringe it will release bpa chemicals that we then inject

My husband and I watched this video before starting pio but I told him we can skip the part where you give the shot yourself because I don’t have to do that since my husband will be doing that. Well he got Cov*d yesterday and can’t do my pio shots anymore. So I rewatched your video again this time without skipping any part 😂

@@brittany_elizabeth_rn thank you. Just want that second beta already 🤞 I don’t know how you were so patient not to test. I have zero symptoms, had spotting on day 7, I would 100% think it’s my period starting if I have not seen positive test earlier.
Wonderful tips you can also request a smaller needle depending on weight to help ease discomfort and also do a combo where you only have to inject every 3rd day it will save you from 60 injections to about 20.

Hi! Can you explain the combo? I asked my doctor and he said he has never heard of a combo shot. I would love to do less of these! Lol

@@brittany_elizabeth_rn Update: definitely helped me! Icing the area keeps me from feeling the pinch of the needle, and the heat pad helps to relax the muscle after. I made the mistake of not taking weight off the muscle the shot was going into, so I have a nice bruise still from the very first injection. DONT flex the muscle. Lesson learned. 😩

I know it’s so scary!! But you can do it!!
I warm the vial in warm water, then hold the syringe in my sports bra once I draw up the PIO until I'm ready to inject. I also use lidocaine spray from Amazon to numb before and I use a little shot assist thingy from Amazon that helps a lot.

After put the injection use ice pack or hot pack
Hot pack worked way better for me to relax the muscle and get the knots out

I had to do them every day for 12 weeks after my transfer, so the entire first trimester

my FET is next week I'm super scared from the progesterone oil injections I'm supposed to take them for the first 3 months. 😨 I also have 3 embryos from 2 cycles just like you.. all of them are girls
I know it’s super scary. I almost didn’t follow through with the embryo transfer because I was scared of the injections, and doing them for the first 3 months was absolutely terrifying!! But you got this girl!! It’ll all be worth it!❤️
@@brittany_elizabeth_rn Hi Brittany, a small update, I started the progesterone in oil injections and I didn't see them painful at all. just a small bruise and swelling after the injection in 4 hours bas it's very minimal, the blood thinner injections in tummy are way more painful but the pain stays only for 10 mins and it disappears. my FET Is in 2 days, wish me luck for baby jasmine 🥰🥰

I’m so sorry!! I was extremely sore for the first 2 weeks and then my body got more used to the shots. It gets a little easier! Hang in there; you got this!!

I’ve never heard of being able to do them on your stomach. You’ll have to ask your doctor or fertility clinic
I’m starting my IVF cycle right now. I’m also like your husband and pass out from injections, the last two steroid injections I had, I passed out. Maybe only steroid injections do that to me, who knows.

I have been thinking of IVF for three years but I am afraid of this progesterone injections...
Not everyone needs these shots. One of my best friends went through IVF and didn’t need these; all she needed was progesterone vaginal suppositories. So I wouldn’t let that hold you back until you confirm you will need them
