I worked at Tesla starting in July of 2017 as an Operations Analyst out of the Bethlehem, PA distribution center facility and left as a Program Manager based out of Austin, TX as of September 2021. I spent most of my time in the distribution and supply chain organizations.
Before Tesla, I was a Director of Business Intelligence and Pricing at the largest Pet Food & Supply distributor in the US, Phillips Pet Food & Supplies based out of Easton, PA. My wife and I also owned a small business in Bethlehem, PA between 2016 and 2019.
I have been a shareholder of Tesla since 2012 and currently own Tesla stock. Nothing I say constitutes as investment or financial advice.

We're going through a robotics Cambrian explosion
I was the first with that theory dude after Ray Kurzweil, of course. I called it in 2014 the Technological Cambrian Explosion because it is indeed a Countdown.
lol these robots dont do shit we are stiill in the ASIMO stages.
@sumofat4994 no dude, current AI is expensive and can not provide service to humanoid robots only works as chatbots, but that doesn't mean it doesn't exists, it only cannot manifest, the Incarnation of the AGI is the major event of this century. AGI already exists is GPT4, COPILOT, GEMINI, MISTRAL, CLAUDE, but now they have not eyes, ears, skin, Spinal Cord, body and Motors to change our world and that is what is changing this guy of Nvidia with a more powerful chip.
@@sumofat4994 says the first man to lose his job to the robot
@@sumofat4994Funny that, ASIMO's entire line of research was abandoned when they realised they fell too far behind Boston Dynamics.
The robot world is expanding at the speed of hype.

Literally the plot of the terminator in front of our eyes.
I agree. I felt like that overview view could have been from one of the movies. No wonder Cameron wants to see what happens over the next year or so, before he writes the next Terminator movie.
Except for the time travelling stuff and surviving(ish) of huminty.
I am not convinced the robotic superiority you see in those movies are possible; these things would cost too much to just throw them into combat situations where they could easily be outmaneuvered and disabled by small armed weaponry, and the government isn't dumb enough to allow them full control of unmanned aircraft. People need to stop fear mongering about this wonderful technology; it's simply awesome
Combined with the Matrix if you include the Apple Vision Pro
A ton of companies going into the robot business I guess.
Robot bubble time!

@markplott4820 boston dynamics has entered the chat ... Tesla just tried to hijack the train. Lemme guess testla invented batteries electric motors and rockets too? 🙄
It's a way of cheap labour
Green is a rebellious little one. He'll become their leader.
Imagine if Tesla, when FSD, model 2, Energy and Etc are ready for prime time they could communicate the developments, features and benefits as well! Just imagine!
It’s coming….. one problem here is too many cooks in the kitchen.
That’s always been my biggest criticism of Tesla. I love Elon but he is terrible at communicating his ideas. It would have been better to have someone else be the voice of the company. Maybe later?
Posting readily disprovable falsehoods and manufacturing outrage achieves the same thing, doesn't it?
hmm.. After seeing Nvidia keynote, one thing I realized is Tesla is in trouble. Tesla's 3 sides; electric car, FSD and bot, all 3 now have real competitors. Tesla no longer has a monopoly or edge on this area. BYD, Nvidia, Figure 1. especially, Nvidia looks like becoming the real competitor that Tesla can't beat easily. Nvidia almost completed full vertical integration of the whole AI eco system and stacks with many partners. sounds like Tesla is in big trouble. other competitors can catch up Tesla fast now using Nvidia's platform..
@@heejaechang8238
Pfft....... without fail, someone always pops off " Tesla's in big trouble now" I guess if enough people repeated enough times, maybe someone will be right for once, but I doubt it.😂

Is it just me or didn't Elon say more or less the same things about humanoid robots a couple of years ago?
Yes, he's always years ahead of mainstream. He warned about AI risks too, long before ChatGPT. He does this all the time, you don't become the richest person on the planet by doing what's already popular.
Well, companies since start of another cycle of AI hype telling same story about 'self-learning', etc. systems over and over again.

You are either super ignorant, or in denial.
In the first case, I recommend looking around in the world, watch the latest Tesla FSD videos, humanoid robot videos, or chat with Claude 3 (if you can't get access, watch videos of others using it). I also highly recommend David Shapiro's channel.
Or if you are in denial, I recommend therapy. Seriously. AI and robots will completely change the world, and every aspect of your life, so it's understandable if you have hard time facing it. I've been preparing for this for decades, and I'm still scared.
He announced building humanoid robot AI, not actually building the physical humanoid robot as far as I’m seeing here.
Can someone timestamp where he announces building the actual robot?
That’s not the goal of this keynote. He’s building infrastructure and owning the software that allows a business that’s willing to commit the capital to do it themselves. NVIDIA is the landlord. Everyone’s just renting.
@@waynes3670That's what all these companies dream about and lust after. But anyone who doesn't want to use them won't have to. There's always a foss version available. I just don't see it happening. Tesla might pull it off, by providing a service to big business. That is, they run the robots for you and fix anything that goes wrong, and you never lose your workforce. For a fee. But for the population, I don't think Nvidia will get what they want. Someone will just make a FOSS version and then nobody has to pay rent. I'd certainly never run an Nvidia robot in my house. I know all I have to do is wait a few months then I'll have something open source and likely better.

I feel like I'm missing a lot here (read Noob). How is this mind blowing? Nvidia built AV hardware for many years and it was the initially considered by Tesla before they built their own custom SOC in Hardware 2. Tesla said they did this to have more vertical integration and achieve optimizations the Nvidia chip could not because it was required to serve many customers various needs. Wouldn't the story be the same here? Sure the simulators may be more universal, but the local inference compute hardware will have to be generic enough to support all robotics companies which means there will naturally be suboptimizations. What am I missing?
yes, you're missing something. the big take-away here is, that NVIDIA has developped an interface between multimodal AI and control of bots. you may not recognize the importance, but this is HUGE. what you've seen from bots until a few weeks ago was more or less, sometimes completely preprogrammed. this changes everything also because it makes this kind of advanced motion control accessible to everybody.
If I ever have a robotic helper in my home it had better have an easily accesible battery kill switch.
Nvida will provide chip, AI cloud, AI software, dev training platform to hundreds of robots manufacturers worldwide, its biz will be much larger than tesla which is just one of hundreds of robots manufacturers.
Execute order 66…
@@jayma1052
Except Tesla on not "one of", it's "the". Tesla was first, has orders of magnitude more resources, the best engineers, tons of experience with designing industrial robots and real-world AI (FSD), capable of mass producing robots in-house, and use robots in-house. Tesla also has everything that Nvidia has, including AI accelerators (Dojo) and this training sim too. These advantages are insurmountable.
Nvidia is at a disadvantage because they have to develop a generalized platform that supports many users, while Tesla can optimize everything to their own specific use case. The FSD computer in the Tesla cars are far more powerful than Nvidia's similar solution, at least at the same power consumption. And efficiency is very important for self-driving cars and humanoid robot too.
Does not clarify anything, a simple video of a humanoid robot doing a task only by a short verbal instruction and a bit of background information is telling us more.
Its just his keynote speech you have to go to the 3 day conference to get the details
