    I just cleaned out my foot pump head last night. It was filled with sealant. It was blowing bubbles and sounded like there was something inside, so I completely agree: check your pump! Topeak's original tire gauge is good. It has an end that you can screw onto a pump to override the pump's non-functional gauge or to compare the two to see if the pump's gauge is accurate.

    An excellent array of questions! I try to keep my drivetrain clean by cleaning it *frequently* rather than doing anything extraordinary. The usual cause of untimely wear is negligence.

    Running a sram AXS derailleur and shifter with Shimano chain, cassette, and Crankset works well and gives you the best of both. Wireless shifting is precise, clean, and easy but the tooth profile and chain design on Shimano HG+ gives far superior shifting not to mention better spacing between gears compared to Sram. As long as the chain, cassette, and chainring are all Shimano it will work with Sram AXS (just not T-Type).

      @@resurrectorbikerepair454 I can confirm that. It works without any problems. Tested with XT cassette, chain, chainring and GX AXS rear derailleur.

    I was choosing between computer and smart watch a few weeks ago. I ended up buying a Garmin Epix 51mm. I use it as a normal watch and tracking other activities with it on my wrist. If I go for a ride I have 3d printed a stem mount and use a HRM, cadence and speed sensors. So far it has worked great, it gives me the info I need and I can analyze the results later. I usually ride on roads I know well, but I can see the advantage of having a larger screen for navigation.
    For extra security I have a lanyard from a flashlight and a metal clip mounted around the stem.

    Good advice for cleaning a chain... but better still is to switch to imersive waxing... then it basically stays clean all the time as any dirt is flushed out when it goes in the wax pot. Best source of info on this is from Zero Friction Cycling.

      Totally agree. It seems to be ignored in the MTB world. Granted, it may not be practical in a UK winter (wet and sloggy) but for dry and dusty with occasional puddles here in the US, It works a treat! (as our UK friends like to say) quiet, and un beatable protection! Anna and a PHD GCN presenter just had a chat about it. I was glad to finally see it acknowledged by someone other than those who stand to financially gain from it's use. th-cam.com/video/Q98HvysE4n0/w-d-xo.html

    I used a small chainring to get a nice low ratio on my budget fatbike build, with the smaller cassette that came with it (22T front, 34T rear), for quite a while. When I switched to 32T on the front and 50T on the rear, giving me a very similar ratio, the drivetrain felt more engaged and the chain stopped slipping or dropping. For the low-speed crawling I needed to do on the fatbike, the difference in feel was huge!

    Thanks for answering ly question! Yeah that incident traumatized me LOL. I don't go to max pressure to seat my tires bead anymore. I just go to about 40 at the highest. I think the blowout caused a tiny rip in the middle of my Ardent Race tire because sealant leaks out in one location. I may have to get a new tire.

    • @johncarrington8612
      @johncarrington8612 23 วันที่ผ่านมา

    I use both my smartwatch and my Kiox 500 when I am out on my bike, but I am looking to get a better computer. The new Kiox 500 is a lot faster than the 300, and the new updates are great, but I just want a little bit more from a computer that focuses more on me and not just on the bike. So, I have installed the Purion 200, so now I am looking for a computer to use now but will not ever give up my smartwatch.

    Cleaning bike chain.
    If you clean your chain on the bike, using a brush, I’d consider this just a pre-wash….
    If you want to get a chain really clean you have to take it off.
    Now-a-days I take the chain off and give it a pre-wash in some kind of container with a lid and a solution of Simple Green so I can shake it about, let it sit a while. Then do a hot water rinse. Now I put it in the ultrasonic cleaner. After 20 minutes at 60c t hake it out and give it a hot water rinse. Dry the chain. I used a heat gun this last time. Now the chain will pass the white glove test. I used the clean white shirt I was wearing, the inside…just in case.
    I’ve actually got the same results with just Simple Green and a big plastic jar with some scrubbing / rinse and repeat. The ultrasonic method with a pre-wash is faster, you can do the whole job in a half hour.

    I think the thing with cleaning a chain is it just won't work on its own. You have to clean the drivetrain. No matter how spotless your chain is, it'll gunk up in seconds if you have old oils and muck stuck to the chainring, jockey wheels and derailleur cage.
