I just purchased one just like this except mine has the zipper. Serial # appears to be 1963. I did not find a genuine leather stamp, but the zipper is sewn around the edge of the binding. There is a dry crease along folds to which I applied a little mink oil. For the most part it is in very good shape for a 60 old written word transcript.

I have my great grandma’s old World Bible Publishers Bible. I’m not sure how old it is but it says she was married in 1918. The cover is falling apart. From the looks of it it is older than this one. I love the pictures in this one and am impressed they are in color.

This Bible is 65 years old ??? it looks great, beautiful, i didn't think genuine leather would last so many years.

Sadly a lot of the Bibles I get on eBay don't look like they have ever been read. If the Bible has been stored in the box, usually they hold up very well. I do a gentle librarian break in, clean them, and apply some preservative chemicals to them once I get them in. Hopefully some of these editions will last many more years for people to enjoy.

The material that allows ribbons to be singed is polyester. It can’t be satin because satin isn’t a material. It’s a weave, like plainweave and twill. Since satin is a weave, you can get satin ribbon made from different materials - cotton, silk, polyester, etc. There are slight variations between materials but all produce the same kind of ribbon since satin is just a weave.

You rock! Thank you for the info! Would I be correct to assume that all synthetic ribbon materials like polyester and nylon will melt together when heated, but natural fibers like cotton and silk will burn?

I think it depends on the underlying material - plastic-type materials or cellulose. Polyester and nylon are plastics, and so they melt. But rayon is cellulose based, so it burns just like the natural fibers cotton and linen. Silk also burns but it’s made up of proteins since it comes from an animal.
Most ribbons I see are polyester or cotton, so I assume that Bibles with ribbons use one of the two, probably polyester in most cases. I know Berisfords ribbons are made from polyester. Sometimes other materials like silk are used but silk is more expensive.

"Words of Christ in Neon Pink", so typical of World bibles.

Jesus Christ died for our sins, was buried, and resurrected on the third day according to the scriptures. Jesus Christ is coming back soon!

Jesucristo murio por nuestros pecados, fue sepultado, y resucito al tercer dia segun las escrituras. Cristo viene pronto.
