    TRANSCRIPT: hi everybody you're going to see me in this video referencing our five CELPIP mock tests and you can access that in the description so in this video this is the intro video before people attempt our 5 mock tests this video is packed with tips and tricks on all modules that you need to know before you attempt our mock test the exam or the online mock test so check out this video learn a lot on all four modules and if you're interested in the five mock tests link is in the description Welcome to our CELPIP course this course includes five mock tests that reflect the real exam there is reading listening writing and speaking and whatever you score here in these mock tests will be what you score in the real exam if you see the online samples especially the free ones they are very easy if you're scoring 10 there in the real exam you're going to score seven or eight so this is different because it is built to ensure you see your actual level and have the challenging exam at home before you face it in reality in this video in 30 minutes first I'm going to go over writing and speaking we'll discuss that we'll discuss tips strategies and most importantly vocabulary that is the most misunderstood concept for writing and speaking and we have the special PDF that is included in your course that will address that second in the second part of this video I'm going to discuss reading and listening it's going to be a brief overview within 30 minutes of all the four modules so you are ready to go and start your mock tests we do have a much more detailed course a 15-hour course with videos on all for modules with examples and details and material you can search it here it's under my name Sean CELPIP 15h hour all-inclusive course and that is loaded with content but the purpose of this video is to ensure you have the most important tools ready for you you to go ahead and start your preparation before you attempt the mock tests okay so with that said let's get started with this PDF this PDF is included in your course there are a lot of writing questions here and the beauty of this is it is very detailed so you can look at this video here or you can open it up in your folder and you can see what where I am reading this is question number one and here we can see a sample level six this student will score a six this student will score a nine and then we have a little bit of breakdown later on so we're going to go over all of that but this PDF is loaded with questions I really recommend you go over all these questions because they will help you a lot for your exam so what we can see here is uh in question number one you can read the question if you want I'm not going to go over it um but let's look at the sample all right first thing you can see for a student who's scoring a six is it's just one paragraph there's no structure there's no uh breakdown of different points right away what you can see with someone scoring a 9 plus and by that by the way that means 9 10 11 12 uh you have paragraphs you have a division so you start with dear Bob you have the first paragraph which is an introduction uh or a greeting because this is an informal uh email you have one paragraph here one here and one here so so what these three paragraphs are doing is they are answering the three bullet points in sequence so you get one paragraph for each bullet point that is how you write a 9 plus um structure when you finish up you have the ending greeing which is the conclusion so you total in total you have five paragraphs okay finish off with best regards and your full name or first name is also enough for the informal letters in this case the student had just said thanks not good enough for Sal pip okay you got to do the ending salutation but more than that let's look at a few lines and you can read the whole thing yourself but I'm going to go over the first few lines how are you I'm doing good by the way I wanted to ask you something how about we throw a party for Erica she has been very down and needs to get something to cheer her up and I really want to cheer her up with this party idea very basic sentences the level here is the way you would talk to a real friend but don't talk like that that's the whole thing about CELPIP writing and speaking too you should use very Advanced wordings even if it is informal it doesn't mean you have to use professional words that is going to make you lose marks but even informally you have to use vocabulary or sentences or phrases that are less commonly used unique phrasing that also should be descriptive and convey your emphasis and expressions let's see an example and this is right below dear Bob it's been a while hasn't it you see the start is so unique nobody writes like this commonly uh it is still informal it's nothing we're not saying that uh I'm I'm glad to be in a meeting with you right now okay so it is still informal I am exhilarated so an advanced word here exhilarated with an idea that just popped up in my head this is again informal uh usage and and it is not I wouldn't if I were formal I would say uh an idea just came uh came to me or I just have a thought but here popped up because it is informal so you are supposed to use that kind of jargon just don't be unprofessional too much you cannot use slang just remember that about Erica's ill mental condition semicolon and then I have the perfect fix and then exclamation mark So by using exclamation marks semicolons you show the example that you can do a range of punctuation so you got to show a range of vocabulary phrases idiomatic expressions and punctuations but don't worry going through this PDF you will learn exactly that note here that exclamation marks like these are used only for informal letters not for the formal letters so right away with the first sentence um if I'm the examiner here are the things that I can see right away the first impression is great and and you have given me a question mark a semicolon an exclamation mark and obviously you're going to use full stops later on so you have already shown a lot of range of punctuation okay accelerated great word popped up great word uh these are unique words and low frequency words so great job on vocabulary I could have said mental condition but it says ill mental condition so that is des

      criptive the more descriptive you are with adjectives like ill mental axil at that are are perfect they are going to add to the range of a vocab okay and the whole phrasing the way it's phrased is some is a way that would not normally be used it is unique phrasing unique uh use of adjective sentences and a very nice way to communicate the idea while keeping it informal so that's well done you can go ahead and read the next part as well this PDF is included in your course but let me bring you here this table breaks down exactly what a selip level 6 versus 8 versus 9 plus would look like so we saw that the student wrote the sample sentence how are you a cpip level8 would say how have you been doing why is that a level eight is because it's longer anything that is descriptive or complex will G gain more marks it doesn't mean you have to make everything descriptive and complex but the more you do the better technically uh it's also less commonly used this one is simple and common this is not but what is a 9 plus cuz that's where we are aiming at it says it's been a while hasn't it and that's what we saw earlier right so you can memorize this if you would like to uh but it's better to understand how the usage is so there is um a sentence a phrase I should say comma and then a question quick question because it is informal you can also put a semicolon here but the reason the student didn't do that here is because there are semicolons later on so you don't need to overuse one thing uh you also need a range so you should keep a balance between punctuation marks and there you can see the difference in phrasing and and the use of uh the sentence let's look at another sentence and I think this was paragraph two yeah okay so the CELPIP level six says I wanted to ask you something how about we throw a party for Erica okay there's no grammar mistake so why are you getting a six that's the whole confusion right people who are native speakers also fail all the time and there's no mistakes here so why am I failing well it's too simple you're not getting any marks on vocabulary range expressions or anything okay let's see what an aid looks like I am excited adjective so it's descriptive to share an idea with you instead of saying I want to tell you something it's a more unique phrasing to use share an idea with you let's throw an amazing party for Erica now amazing is an adjective adds the description and the range of vocabulary you have your exclamation mark which is also going to give you marks for range and let's throw in again good use of an idiomatic expression you can also call this phrasal verb phrasal verbs are verbs like uh throw uh let's throw a party or uh give up Miss out run into those kinds of phrases using those will also help you gain marks so pretty good again this should be a nine right arguably but this is CELPIP you have to have a very high level for a nine now it says I'm accelerated with an idea that just popped up in my head about Erica's ill mental condition I have the perfect fix you can see how we have gone over this already how we have used the exclamation marks the phrasing the adjectives the description okay uh so there you go you can go over the sentences it will really open up your mind on how much Advanced you have to be in vocabulary but even after that you have a sample vocabulary breakdown and these are words related to the um writings that you have seen the samples so the basic sample and the advanced sample the words we used are instead of excited we said accelerated complaining you say ranting good you say awesome you can see with all these words we're still being inal nothing here is formal I am not saying we're looking forward to or anything um and when it comes to the formal letters which you will see later because you have question one question two and then you will get some formal letters later on as well or emails you will see the tone changes but more importantly you can see the breakdown with the vocabulary and tha

      t is key to understand now guys this file the intention of this file is to help you in vocabulary and understanding what range emphasis phrases all of those things mean for writing and speaking okay this is not just for writing the only thing you would not apply in speaking of course are the exclamation marks and punctuation marks everything else that you learn here you should apply in speaking as well all the fancier words memorize them okay all the sentences the way you have seen them here shift them change them to the advanced versions and do that in speaking too what you can can do is make sentences so you see the advanced wordings try to make sample sentences with those by speaking uh when you see a level 9 sentence like this try to make a sample sentence similar to this in speaking so speak a sentence this way for example the sentence here says remember to keep the spotlight of the party on Erica since we need to cheer her up mainly okay so another sentence I could make here is remember to uh keep the spotlight on the current trends since we need to ensure we deliver for the company in 2023 2024 so in this case what why I'm doing this is because since is going to make your sentence complex keep the spotlight is fancier phrasing okay so by using these um similar sentences you're going to gain marks in a lot of places something like mainly has a Lee Le are adverbs quickly slowly all the Le okay the more Le you have the more marks you will get again it adds to the range because people don't use adverbs so there's a reason why everything is placed here the way it is make sure to memorize those um Concepts use them in your writing and speaking for the best marks now let's look at speaking okay you have been given five mock tests as I mentioned and you have five mock tests for spe speaking at the end of every mock test this is something we always remind you hey did you record yourself if yes check your answer so basically every time you practice speaking in these mock tests make sure you record yourself you have to be your own teacher in this course you will record yourself play the answer and check your answer based on this criteria so we'll jump into the criteria right now but make sure you have listen to yourself just as an examiner you would notice flaws are you using too many ums are you answering the question to the point is your grammar flawed are you hard to understand a lot of people avoid this because it's stressful to listen to yourself and figure out your mistakes you don't want to think of mistakes but you have to record and listen and then speak again okay so a few things you want to check when you're speaking and improve on those is tone how is your intonation tone emphasis when you spoke were you expressive so it's important to be natural do not talk like a robot a lot of students do that make sure you have a natural pace like you were talking to a real person just like native speakers do did your volume fluctuate according to what you are saying to make it sound natural again same thing if you are natural your volume should go up and down it shouldn't be monotone and were you fluent it does not mean accent remember that accent has no marks in cell speaking this means if you we're not pausing too much and and by that by the way I mean pauses are good just not too much pausing just not too many ums or at 3 second silence reasonable pausing is fine uh but also not stuttering and just being able to have a flow of your thoughts a great thing here is using connectors so using furthermore moreover also however that adds to your fluency and it's going to give you marks there okay uh check your task response so did you answer what was being asked uh was your response long enough was it appropriate in the social context so here you have to first of all make sure you have answered the question it's a simple thing but a lot of people deviate you will also notice in some answers you might be just talking about another topic when people look at the timing they look at their tone they they are stressed they forget the question so make sure you're answering the question make sure it's long enough you should finish just 5 seconds before the finish time any longer and that's too much of a gap you're leaving and you will lose marks for that so make sure it's long enough and make sure it's appropriate in the social context by that it means if you are talking to a friend it should be an informal uh way of talking if it's to a formal person let's say in part five you're talking to your boss comparing to options it should be a formal social context so check out for that vocabulary we have already covered it you have to use complex Advanced and unique words good range as well did you have any hesitations if you did make sure you use words that you can actually do in the exam if you're trying to use too many complex words now the other problem that may happen is you will start stuttering or you will start thinking and saying I'm trying to recall that good word now if it's better in your case that you use basic words and at least maintain your fluency and not make mistakes that is a better option however you then risk getting below nine so it's much better if you practice both using good vocabulary while being extremely fluent with that okay last thing is coherence so did you express all your ideas clearly was there a proper flow of thoughts and you can use this you can make this better by using good connectors or conjunctions um were your answers organized and structured now again guys this is an overview we're not jumping into all the details of the cell before modules for that check out our other course uh it's under my name Sean's s 15 hour all-inclusive course where we break down the structure for each speaking part and it's very useful to observe that um but here what I'll tell you overall is keep two to four points per question don't do more points than that no matter what question it is not more than four points keep all of them organized with connectors and conjunctions and make sure it has a flow don't conclude at the start a lot of people can start with overall and that's wrong right so you build it slowly for example in part seven speaking when you have to give your opinion and pick one side you give your opinion and then you give your points firstly secondly thirdly at the end you say overall that's what I think so that's a proper flow of wordings and and your structure so make sure you are focused on these four points when you are marking yourself cuz examiners are looking at these and a lot more but generally these four points are all you need to focus on to get a good Mark in speaking so practice self- evaluation and I hope that helps you know the best thing about this course is you get actual explanations for listening and reading so for all the answers you get wrong you will have explanations in the answer sheets check those out they're highly valuable there is no course online that does that only this course so you will understand if you got something wrong why you got it wrong so please observe that when you practice the mock tests then also check the answers you got correctly okay A lot of times people guess okay a

    • @hzadeducation-coachingcent986
      @hzadeducation-coachingcent986  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      nd when you guess and you see the right answer you ignore it because you got lucky but in the exam if that guess is going to work or not it depends but if you are looking at the mock Test's answers check the correct ones go up and verify this is how I got it correctly that will will be a great way to remember to repeat that strategy again in the exam okay so when you attempt the listening and reading mock tests make sure to review the answers not just tell you yourself your marks but check what was wrong and what was right here are some other very very important tips for listening and reading make sure you go over these with me before you start the mock test okay um again this is an overall version which is very important mentions the key thing things if you want to understand the detail you would have to look at my other course s 15 hour allinclusive course that includes practice tests along with explanations on how to get answers with real mock tests and I show you how to fetch answers in a short amount of time um it's more descriptive but here my purpose is going to be to get you ready within the next 10 minutes okay so when we start listening we're given a pen and paper right you are supposed to take not when you listen then the questions appear later on so you have to remember all that information from your brain or from your notes what you can do here is for part one keep the pen and paper on the table do not take notes I say this because part one is easy and if you do take notes you will be distracted you will be confused it's easier to just listen and understand you'll be focused and there is literally no need for taking notes it's it's pretty much like like a day-to-day conversation that happens so you can be confident in part one you do not need to take notes part two three and so on it gets more difficult as we advance so for part two still do not take notes same thing for part three do not take notes but keep the pen ready there are times when they start giving too many details too quickly they might tell you directions dates names or other stuff that may come in the questions so if it's something specific or if it's them talking too fast you just cannot keep up keep your pen ready at least you can write that information down but it's better if you don't take notes if you can Master how to not take notes up to part three and just focus on what they're saying you will be able to remember most of the information that will help you answer the questions because again taking notes will get you distracted but in part four you cannot avoid that same thing in the other parts you have to start taking notes now but wait a second I said it's going to be distract acting yes but there is no possible way you can remember everything that is being said from Parts four 5 and six because they're going to say a lot of things these parts are starting to get more lengthy from part four and your brain cannot remember them so now you have to learn the skill of multitasking taking notes down as well as listening at the same time but an effective way to do this is take notes with not only words but pictures and memory as well well here's what I mean guys so let's say they they mention that you have um you have a big water jug sitting on a building the building is 50 floors okay so this is 5 floors it's much easier on paper by the way 50 floors and now what happens is there is a the water drops 10 ft down to the ground and there is panic okay so 10 ft down and then you can make people here for example exle I'm going to just make this Panic just one is enough I know there's multiple people but there's panic and uh then there's the cleaning crew that comes up and so on look at how easy it is for me to just draw it I just drew it and if it's on paper it's going to be much faster imagine if I had to write all of this down it's going to be it's going to take me a lot of time to write them and if you're rushing you probably are not going to understand your handwriting and they will keep talking in a fast pace so you might not even catch up with the next thing that's being said if you're too busy writing but if I draw some pictures and of course I'm not just relying on that I'm also going to use my words there are going to be times when I have to use words and of course even that's not enough I have to remember some information as well okay if I do a combination of all these things then I will be able to remember remember the entire transcript and that's the goal because from there you can get the answers so from part four you start you need to start doing that when it comes to part five it's not too much on the pictures and and words because here we're going to be stuck with the columns and sequence um so here what's going to happen is you're going to listen to three or more people usually three so what you do is you make three columns okay so under each column you will write what one person is saying whatever Bob said goes here Sarah goes here and Ryan goes here make sure to also keep it in sequence so if this thing is at first you put it right here Sarah talkx you put it here then Ryan put it here going back to Bob put it here sequence will help you get the answers of the questions a lot of the questions are in sequence and sometimes they might ask how did this guy how did Bob respond to Sarah when this was said so you would know what Sarah said and then how this guy responded based on the sequence sequence will help you a lot in answering the right questions columns will help you separate the words and the sentences that were said by each individual so that will help you organize things cuz questions will ask you who said what to who at what point okay finally when it comes to part six separate sections for separate viewpoints so here what you would do is you would make a column every time someone says something uh this is Viewpoint so it could be two viewpoints it could be four it could be more it's some it's this is the part where people are debating so this could be about fishing and this person might be supporting fishing and then you have another person who is opposed to it and then you have a third person who supports fishing every person needs a separate column we don't know how many people they're going to be so you keep making columns as you go and if it's positive you put a check mark if it's negative you put a cross as I said here okay that will help you understand the flow of the conversation who supported it who went against it and and if there's neutral you can make a column for that too so put the check and cross that will help you track the uh things that were said and while you are writing within those columns remember it take to make pictures uh use words and use memory again all those three great things okay great so make sure to apply these strategies for your listening parts let's look at reading reading has been a problem recently for a lot of people most people are really struggling in reading and that's why we highly recommend uh these mock tests to see what your actual level will be in the exam here are some really important strategies you need to know before you attempt these mock tests so for part one there are two sections section one is where you have the CELPIP multiple choice questions along with the first letter and section two is the second letter the response letter remember to give 80% of your time to section one 20% of your time to section two this also holds for part two this also holds for part four in all the these parts you have two sections in all these parts you want to put 80% time in the first section 20% time on the second because when you are attempting these parts you have to read the questions okay remember to read the questions first before you look at the passage so when you read the questions you will then go in the passage find the appropriate place where the answer is just read that part okay when you're just reading that part you will not need to read the whole thing you will save time of course and you will pay more attention because it's less amount of stuff you're reading at one point and when you're doing that for the first section you need 80% of the time because this is the very first time you are looking at the questions and looking at the passage and trying to understand it when you go to section two by this time you already know the passage you already know the initial passage and you would need to know or remember your the tone the uh Expressions the way the first Passage was in order to understand how to answer part two if you have done s

      ome mock tests you know exactly what I mean if not attemp them and you will know an example here that I'm going to give you is in section one if the person writing the letter is complaining to his friend that he doesn't visit that often and he's really upset about with his friend and his family section two would be the response letter from the friend and the friend what would they say most likely they would say I apologize and I'll be I'll try to keep in touch more I've just been busy with work and so on so if the first sentence is I and then the options are apologize am happy thrilled or stressed I would pick apologize because obviously when he responds to a friend he's going to apologize most likely right so I can answer most of these questions with the tone that I know from reading section one so you need to just spend 80% of the time in section one and 20 only for section two okay let's look and part part four and part one have the same strategy by the way part two uh yes again 80% and 20% same rule but here look at the picture first for two minutes before starting this part in this case you don't get a passage you get a picture so you don't need to read the questions first and then go in the passage cuz the passage itself which is the picture is very small you can quickly read it Give It 2 minutes so you can really understand the picture and then attempt the questions okay there and once you go to part three you got you get multiple paragraphs that you have to match with multiple uh sentences which paragraph contains what information here's the strategy look at all the questions first all of them read all the questions and here you will try memorizing the given keywords don't just memorize it like spend time on it again and again by memorize I mean look at it and just close your eyes for 2 seconds try to remember that keyword now go to each paragraph one at a time time and once you read paragraph a you will find that this answer is in three number three and number eight so paragraph a you get two answers then you go to paragraph B you get four answers paragraph C you get one answer and so on whatever is left at the end is not given simple as that but why did we memorize the given keywords is because when you do that and you read all the questions then you go into the paragraphs you remember the things that were said from the questions and when the paragraph starts talking about that even briefly your brain says oh this is mentioned in question number uh three this is mentioned in question number seven or if it's paraphrase again your brain will click because you have read those keywords so your brain will actively look to match the sentences you read when you're attempting these uh paragraphs this is why this strategy really helps in part three okay and that's it guys so those are the strategies for parts 1 to 4 and parts 1 to six for listenting I hope this helps uh make sure when you do these mock tests sit down in one setting don't do writing first and then speaking later do everything in one go because in the exam you have to do this for 3 hours so practice that environment one more thing I'm going to say for speaking is in the real exam you are distracted because a lot of people are speaking while you're speaking so when you try the CELPIP speaking exam uh make sure to play Something in the background on TH-cam maybe a news channel so you can distract your yourself on purpose so you can practice the real exam environment cuz it's going to be distracting too finally make sure with everything you're doing evaluate yourself check your answers if they were right or wrong for listening and reading why they were right or wrong for writing you can use software like grammarly to check your grammar but for evaluation it's better to consult a teacher you can also message us here and we'll help you get coaching if you need coaching for writing and speaking speaking also you can self-evaluate with the recordings but but again getting the help of an expert would be the best case scenario for your preparation all the best with these mock tests and uh good luck for your exam

    Hi Sean, Hope you’re in great spirit!
    Just wondering about speaking section, can we use idioms and phrases such as down in the dumps, move heaven and earth, over the moon, cut corners, cost an arm and leg, bite the bullet etc? would this approach help me to increase my overall speaking score?

      Some of them yes some no. You need to use idiomatic expressions. Not idioms. I will make a video detailing this soon but you can research this meanwhile.

    Hi, after a lot of thought process, I have finally decided to go with CELPIP after watching your videos rather than IELTS or PET. So, I'm starting now, I don't want to get distracted by watching random TH-cam videos and stuff. Which is the best package I can buy from you to get fully prepared to get CLB 9. BTW Awesome videos :-)

      If you are copying the entire paragraphs then yes. In our templates, that is not the case.

    Hi there, I took my test today but I got two extra news report and presentation, same extra topics to do in listening
    And first part in reading, with different questions appeared and I had no other option but completed it.
    Why did this happen and how would this affect the score and bands? Thank you for your immediate response:)

    • @guneetsengh
      @guneetsengh 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      There would be one unscored part in both Listening and Reading. In most cases in Listening there will be 2 news item and in reading Task 1 would be twice. You will not know which part is unscored. Do your best on every part.
