Veggi burgers are more expensive than ground beef burgers, vegan cheese is more expensive than American cheese slices. Just stop making raspberries and lettuce and other fresh, delicate produce as the representatives of healthy food in your mind. People eat a lot of rice and onions and potatoes without even noticing they are cheaper than meat.

If you can cook; vegan food can be a fraction of the cost and twice as nutritious.
If you're purchasing premade food; in my experience it's usually the same price or slightly more expensive.
If you're eating out; vegan food tends to be overpriced.
A lot of the disparity in price can be attributed to the fact that meat is heavily subsidized on top of the fact that it's often combined with soy. The cheap imported meats that you'll get in microwave meals usually have more soy than meat so if you're broke but want to eat vegan then you're already halfway there

My wife is from Mexico and when I visited for the first time after changing to a vegetarian diet, she said that the poorer people are vegetarian or outright vegan because they can't afford meat. And in restaurants there, the cheese filled options vs meat filled products are the cheapest options. Vegan products are sold a premium there, but if you buy the ingredients then it is cheaper. And there are a lot of meat products with TVP filler as cheaper options, because meat is more expensive.

I learnt to cook from my mom, and what she knows best (since she had to learn to cook at a young age to help at home) is stews, soups, lots of potatoes, grains, legumes, seasonal veggies... Cooking simple vegan meals with easy ingredients in batches is the best way to save both money AND time! I've lived in three different countries and this has proven right all the time ^^

After about 1-2 months of living together and cooking separate meals I noticed her grocery bills were a fraction of mine bc of the meat I bought. Now I almost always cook vegetarian and we spend about $30 per week on groceries. Not vegan though because we get eggs from our friend’s chickens and cheese from the local farmer’s market. The staple food in my country is Rice, Wheat, other grains, Beans, Legumes, Vegetables, local and seasonal fruits, nuts and seeds, etc. and all of them are cheap and accessible almost everywhere here.
Vegan food being cheap or expensive for you comes down to your preference and frequency of purchase if one likes to have plant based meat, dairy and eggs or processed versions of those which is totally fine but that doesn't make vegan food expensive in general.
It also depends on what you prioritise. I am comfortable with spending a lot on art events, concerts, plays, movies, adventurous trips and experiences but I don't spend much on clothing, buying vehicles, luxurious stays, etc.

I need low carb, cheap, vegan or vegetarian food. Idk how.

Meat, eggs and dairy are cheap because they are subsidized.
In reality, they cost a lot more.

It’s the vegan products that are commercialized that are pricey. And the replacement substitute ingredients that add up. The veggies in a can and the “whole” ingredients aren’t.

You can buy the protein bodybuilders use, as far as I know it's not so expensive if you count it per servint

People that think vegan food is expensive only think about like impossible meats, other plant based meats, vegan egg, vegan alternatives. But most vegan food isn't a meat alternative

I've cut my groceries cost by about 20% by going vegan! (although I didn't eat red meat before, so you may save even more if you do)

Every vegan food costs more and has a extra charge added to it

no. just no. Vegan foo is food that does not have any animal in it. You know i made chili 1 month ago and you wanna know how much it cost me? 40 dollars. 40 dollars for a ton of servings of chili. So this is cheaper then regular as a pound of beef right now is about 14 bucks for a pound of beef.
