Thanks for checking out the mod! You're doing incredibly well for your first attempt. Curious to see how this goes. 8:35 is actually a vanilla bug. I'm not sure why it happens, but two of the entrances to the jellyshroom caves do not let you build pipes into them.

Realistically the auroras core blowing up would affect at least 10 miles past the edge of the map so I don't think even the lava zone would be safe from the radiation
Nice to see someone doing this mod. As someone who has played the original deathrun at max difficulty (200m radiation, need a ruby for builder or repair tool, aurora shockwave hits down to 200m) I thought I would give you some tips in the hope that you play with max settings assuming you can with the new one. 1. Getting the seaglide is extremely useful, carrying extra oxygen tanks lowers your speed but as the seaglide sets your speed to a specific number rather than adding to it, it removes the penalty of multiple tanks. 2. If I remember correctly you can sit slightly above/below the pressure limit when ascending or descending and it speeds it up (Might be remember this wrong though) 3. If you play with radiation and to 200m, you will need the resources for a radiation suit on you as the aurora explodes as you wont be able to travel outside after it. Hope this helps!
When playing, I had a base behind aurora, mountains and dunes. Using Creepvines around my base helped see it from very far. And having a few brain coral around the area. It wasn't needed with 4 minutes of air, but it was nice when I just wanted to be out of my base and look at it for extended amount of times.
Do it again, the difficulty was set too low ( you can change it in the mod settings) Tips: Carry flares they make visibility so much better If you hold out a fish, stalkers, biters, bone sharks and sand sharks eat the fish instead of biting you.
This actually sounds like a fun challenge, I’ve been playing Subnautuca for years at this point and beat the game on Hardcore a few times, leaving little challenge for the game. So again seems fun
Bacon, I’m so happy for you getting the plush made. You really deserve it and are by far my favorite content creator. You are so chill and we can see how much effort you put into your videos. Thank you so much for the great content! :D
For making future bases that are really deep, you can make base attached air pumps so that you don’t have to make a deep pipe starting from the surface.
When you said "My alterra debt is high enough" it gave me an idea for a mod. Imagine you had a debt number that would go up for every resource you "used" (crafted with/ate) and it would go up by a percentage every night which would incentivise players to keep a los debt. Then you could do things to lower the debt like sacrificing materials to basically be given to alterra when you return, or finding valuable research in the form of scanning things. If your debt caps out you just can't do anything until you lower it
Honestly, as cool as the mod is, my biggest takeaway from this video is learning something new about the base game. In all my time of playing, I never thought to make extra oxygen tanks. It never occurred to me that O² tanks were more than just an expanded oxygen bar mechanic, they are compressed oxygen containers IN YOUR INVENTORY that can be swapped out when one runs out like batteries, or y'know, real O² tanks. This will make trips away from vehicles or bases into shipwrecks and caves much more efficient. Definitely utilizing this in my current hardcore game and future runs, thanks Bacon
I enjoyed this video so much and I also really enjoyed the other deathrun mod video like this, I definitely would like to see more content like this down the road
I would try and make beacons for where you left the oxygen, that way you can remember where you last left it and not go crazy trying to find it. Make a ton of med kits.If enemies are more aggressive, it wouldn't hurt to try and have them handy. I'd try and use them sparingly. Fix the radiation ASAP. Once that's done, its one less task you have to deal with. Find modification station parts. SCAN EVERYTHING. Make a base and just try and juggle power with that and the life pod. It might help. One you have a life pod, collect, collect, collect, hopefully looking for things won't be too much of a nightmare. After that try and see what it would take to make a Sea glide and a battery charger. If you need a lot of materials for a batter. A charger is gonna be you friend, along with a power cell charger. This looks like a lot, because it is a lot. But these are some of the things that came to mind in this video as well as future videos. Might even give me inspiration to try and do this mod myself someday. Hope this works, and God Speed Bacon
It can be really helpful early on to build a few strategic bases just above 200m. The sparse reef wrecks and the edge of the bulb zone are two good spots. A solar panel won't be enough for heavy crafting, but it is somewhere to breathe for some quick forays for plants and deeper minerals.
This was a real blast to see! I don't love a super hard challenge in my own game, so I'm enjoying seeing how it goes second hand. I definitely wouldn't mind if this was a three parter in the end...
Fun fact, the bladder can be filled on the surface even when the air is toxic, and then use it to replenish 15 seconds of air. That means you can also use an air bladder to filter air.
What a mod, really! I played the first iteration and it was a blast. I got into the mood to play this one now, itching for another Subnautica playthrough while we wait for the 3rd installment. Also, on an unrelated note, have you ever considering covering Forever Skies in the channel? It's the game that gave me the most Subnautica vibes out of any other survival adventure game I've played.
the shorter videos are good but longer ones >>> 🤭🤭 love these differences in the mod from the normal gameplay too since it’s not that it’s just harder it’s just more realistic
One of my favourite mods! My favourite feature is the Aurora Reaper attacking me when im in the Grassy Plateaus (I also use the Aggressive Fauna mod)😂😂😂 The Nitrogen is annoying at the start but you get used to it. Deathrun Classic on Deathrun difficulty is truly a certified hood classic.
I have already tried it in my run and even though I did die several times at the very beginning, once I got a bit more experienced I managed to go for a long time without dying. I ultimately managed to complete the game and the last time I died was while exploring the jellyshroom caves Degasi base: it was because of the stingrays. However, I made another game and I'm still currently trying to beat deathrun 2.0 without ever dying. As of right now I recetly got the Cyclops blueprint (had to deal with the reapers like 4 times), I have a base with a Seamoth docked while NEVER dying! And trust me, that wasn't easy as my spawn in a boneshark and warper area! The most difficult parts will be the lost river and the lava places as to get there with cyclops or prawn you need to get nickel and kyanite respectively... so you must literally swim with your seaglide, dodging river prowlers, ghost leviathanS and WARPERS (by far the most dangerous in that mod). I mean, I did already pull that off without dying but idk if I'll manage to pull that off again...
I played not so long ago a death run with the multiplier of 3.6 I think, the more hazards you take on the higher is the multiplier. I believe I had need for superior reinforced diving suit meaning you have to scan the river prawlers to progress. So radiation penetrates down until 60 meters, as well as explosion eradicates everything down to 50 meters. I chose the more lenient THE BENDS system, WHICH KILLED ME at least 5 times... AND I STRONGLY RECOMMEND A MOD called PERSISTANT REAPERS I really really recommend it since will drastically increase the reaper population and they will follow you around, maybe 20-30 is enough, the original is 50 plus reaper. I strongly recommend keeping a pace or else they will accumulate to such degree the game becomes impossible... I barely got my prawn suit and Ive already exterminated about 15 reapers with it, since there are multiple even 3 in one area, the stasis rifle and heat blade is suicide... The thing is the death run isnt that special in mid and late game, only the bends give another layer to the game. BUT with the persistent reaper mod, it will turn into horror real fast if you slack on the extermination part... Sorry for rambling, just wanted to share, love your vids as always
there's a mod where if you want your seamoth to generate oxygen, you need to build a module for it. as Robin's PDA would say (maybe), "no module? no oxygen"
Isn't it funny how much of the supposed difficulty in "Difficulty" mods for games just ends up translating to "We made this into a super tedious experience"
In mod you have to go to blood kelp biome 300 meters deep without any protection to get seamoth In vanilla you make seamoth before aurora explosion and visit blood kelps in cyclops
Totally expecting a random death near the end. Imagine Bacon had spent all this time gathering resources and evading the reapers just to be killed in a goofy way like a Gasipod's Gas Pod or a crash fish. 😂
@@TheLastBacon I tried it. It's only on hard rather than deathrun mode for my first try, and I still died IMMEDIATELY. Lmao, the pod flipped upside down as I was fighting the fire and it took me out then and there. 🤣💀
I remember when Subnautica had a max depth before being damaged... a cracked version of version 2828 from forever ago. Also had the Septic Eye for (I guess) a Jacksepticeye related thing. As soon as they got rid of the pressure restriction (simple 100m before damage, 200m with next tier of equipment), my extremely dated computer ran it so much better, until they updated it again. Lost the cracked versions I had, which is unfortunate, as some fans of Subnautica have expressed interest in playing such old copies. I even remember when I first saw the moonpool, and had that seamless transition to the inside of my base :O
@@TheLastBacon Nostalgic I would say lol. Got ~20-30 fps at best, then they started updating it a few times (got 3/4 updated cracked versions before I stopped playing on the laptop) and eventually it dropped to 5-11fps at best. Subnautica was one of the first games I happened to buy though, as it was easier than constantly downloading cracked versions, and much safer as some cracks started having viruses.

8:40 что бы иметь шансы сплавать в грибную пещеру, не в один конец, нужно иметь два баллона высокой ёмкости, ребризер и глайдер. конструкция с насосом и трубой до самого входа тоже будет очень полезна
If your lifepod is close enough to the Aurora, I like using lifepod 6 to hide from the explosion. It is below 100m, and it protects from roaming biters and sand sharks.
Oh, hey! I've just been playing this mod for the first time lately, :) after having played the previous version of the "Deathrun" mod for the earlier version of Subnautica. (Before the "Living Large" update) I think it's worth mentioning that there are additional settings for the mod that can increase the difficulty even further, if you feel this still doesn't challenge you enough... or you're a masochist. :P 3:10 One of the settings on the menu makes it so the surface air is unbreathable for the whole game. I have to admit I didn't realize that setting was off by default, since I wanted to challenge myself by turning all settings to maximum. :) 9:26 Luxury. :P In my game, I have to scan 20 Sea moth fragments. :) So many, that I would wonder if there are even that many on the whole map! (Apparently, there are) :o 10:15 To be clear, magnetite is needed for the habitat builder. You have to face crabsnakes before you can even build a base. (That's just criminal, by the way) :P 13:09 I found that flares are super useful for early game in this challenge. Normally, I hate them, because they're too blindingly bright, but they end up being pretty welcome in this super dark, overly visually distorted landscape. :) 20:20 Sorry, but you're mistaken. There are 10 hull breaches in the reactor room, same as in base game. Same as in every mod I'm aware of. It could be a neat idea to add more hull breaches at higher difficulties, though. :) (Take note, Raqzas!) :D 20:59 Objectively the most important thing. How else will you know to keep calm? :)
Looks like the smart strat is exploring the floating island first so you can breathe, if your lifepod spawns close enough to make that viable. RIP whatever poor souls have their lifepod spawn in the Mountains or generally in Reaper country.
This is helpful, I been wanting to play it again but didn't want to downgrade to legacy. I am going to check it out, maybe see if the others mods I used will work in 2.0 too. I will never forget my first swim with the Sea Dragon with my seaglide (Still amazed that worked without being eaten or fireballed) or my over 200 corridor tunnel to the Aurora (which I destroyed to build my base near the Mushroom Forrest's portal to the Sea Employer).
@@TheLastBaconyes it was, as I started out “better safe than sorry” to the Aurora (I started to get those lags building a new piece near the end, I was near it though, so it didn’t get worse than like 2 seconds per piece (I too was sad I couldn’t breathe in the Aurora)), then having to risk my life near the back to get the cyclops (somehow I evaded all of the reapers), and finally (after upgrading my reinforce diving suit with the custom recipes) went swimming with the Sea Dragon without a Prawn (just the dive suit, rebreather, and seaglide (and 3 mini-bases for the oxygen and a respawn for safety)).
Got it all set up with the map mod, that is updated to Bepinex (but the Habitat Platform I had isn't). Thanks again for doing the video, been inching to do DeathRun again and was wondering if it be updated. Are the Karaaa settings new to make it more difficult than the original?

I believe in you! Not sure I'll be able to do it myself though haha :D
Yayyyy omg I’ve been NEEDING some last bacon challenge run content!
Yaaay :)
Oh adding more reapers just sounds like such a nightmare haha :D
Been coming back to your videos after a while, and they're just as good as I remember. W
Yay thank you so much :)
"the surface air is not breathable" > pumps the surface air to have it on demand
Yeah kinda sus :)
I remember doing this mod back before 2.0, I know your pain Bacon.
It really is something :)
this man keeps the game alive
Trying to! :)
Thank you for being the light of my subnautica experience
Yay thank you for the kind words! :)
That goat simulator background music just made everything even better 😂 good video as always ♡
Eyyy thank you!! :)
Man, this makes me want to try this mod again. Really fun.
You totally should! :)
8:35 the goat sim music is tuff
So fire :D
there's a mod where if you want your seamoth to generate oxygen, you need to build a module for it. as Robin's PDA would say (maybe), "no module? no oxygen"
OH yeah that would be so much pain on top of this :)
Isn't it funny how much of the supposed difficulty in "Difficulty" mods for games just ends up translating to "We made this into a super tedious experience"
Yeah there is a VERY fine line between something being a fun challenge and tedium :)
In mod you have to go to blood kelp biome 300 meters deep without any protection to get seamoth
In vanilla you make seamoth before aurora explosion and visit blood kelps in cyclops
Exactly :)
Totally expecting a random death near the end. Imagine Bacon had spent all this time gathering resources and evading the reapers just to be killed in a goofy way like a Gasipod's Gas Pod or a crash fish. 😂
Haha I would end it all :D
This is super fun! Great video, Bacon, its really entertaining ^.^
Yay thank you kindly! So glad you enjoyed!! :)
When you need to escape the air and get to the water to breathe air... that's ironic
Ikr it’s so strange :)
8:20 WE MAKIN OUTTA THE GOAT SIM WITH THIS ONE 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🗣🗣🗣🗣🗣🗣🗣🗣🗣🗣
Heck yeah!! :)
I love the Goat Simulator music it makes this challenge of death so much funnier 😂
I love it too :D
This looks like a pretty fun (though extremely challenging) mod! I may have to try it if I ever get bored with the vanilla game.
You should totally give it a try :)
@@TheLastBacon I tried it. It's only on hard rather than deathrun mode for my first try, and I still died IMMEDIATELY. Lmao, the pod flipped upside down as I was fighting the fire and it took me out then and there. 🤣💀
I have been waiting for a survival challenge. love these vids.
Yay perfect :)
I was not expecting the goat simulator theme
It fits so well :)
Bacon: "but at least i believe it will not generate power a bit faster"
Me: "Hmmm..."
6:41
Hmmm :D
Dang good times :)
The only challenging mods Subnautica would need would be to play as a survivor in one of the other pods.
Lmao yes :)
hey bro! I've been subscribed for a long time since you were a small youtuber I feel like a proud father lol Seeing how much you've gotten bigger and How many thousands of views you get, i come back every year to comment something like this, I appreciate that you still Reply to all comments even being so big Cya!
Yay thank you so much! It really means a lot that you’ve stuck around for so long! :)
Now imagine adding the extra challenge where you can't breathe IRL unless your character can breathe
Oh no :D
Amazing video. You have to appreciate the time he spent on this.
Thank you kindly :)
8:40 что бы иметь шансы сплавать в грибную пещеру, не в один конец, нужно иметь два баллона высокой ёмкости, ребризер и глайдер. конструкция с насосом и трубой до самого входа тоже будет очень полезна
Sounds like a good plan :)
Would love to see more of this series
More is coming soon :)
FINALLY! ITS ABOUT TIME!
Wait... Nevermind i thought this was the "without getting hurt" challenge
Haha not quite :)
If your lifepod is close enough to the Aurora, I like using lifepod 6 to hide from the explosion. It is below 100m, and it protects from roaming biters and sand sharks.
Oh that's really smart :)
3:10 One of the settings on the menu makes it so the surface air is unbreathable for the whole game. I have to admit I didn't realize that setting was off by default, since I wanted to challenge myself by turning all settings to maximum. :)
9:26 Luxury. :P In my game, I have to scan 20 Sea moth fragments. :) So many, that I would wonder if there are even that many on the whole map! (Apparently, there are) :o
10:15 To be clear, magnetite is needed for the habitat builder. You have to face crabsnakes before you can even build a base. (That's just criminal, by the way) :P
13:09 I found that flares are super useful for early game in this challenge. Normally, I hate them, because they're too blindingly bright, but they end up being pretty welcome in this super dark, overly visually distorted landscape. :)
20:20 Sorry, but you're mistaken. There are 10 hull breaches in the reactor room, same as in base game. Same as in every mod I'm aware of. It could be a neat idea to add more hull breaches at higher difficulties, though. :) (Take note, Raqzas!) :D
20:59 Objectively the most important thing. How else will you know to keep calm? :)
Oh god yeah this is plenty hard for me :D Those settings sound like a nightmare!!
Looks like the smart strat is exploring the floating island first so you can breathe, if your lifepod spawns close enough to make that viable. RIP whatever poor souls have their lifepod spawn in the Mountains or generally in Reaper country.
Might be a good idea yeah :)
Yes, finally a fellow admirer of the keep calm cat poster!
Best poster :D
This is helpful, I been wanting to play it again but didn't want to downgrade to legacy. I am going to check it out, maybe see if the others mods I used will work in 2.0 too. I will never forget my first swim with the Sea Dragon with my seaglide (Still amazed that worked without being eaten or fireballed) or my over 200 corridor tunnel to the Aurora (which I destroyed to build my base near the Mushroom Forrest's portal to the Sea Employer).
That sounds like quite the playthrough! :D
Great video, Bacon! Can't wait for the next part 😊
Thank you kindly :)
