  • Rafael Lava is a 22-year old graduating student from the University of the Philippines, taking up BS Civil Engineering. As a UP student, he firmly believes that the phrase “Para sa Bayan” must be put into daily practice, a principle that UP is known for. As an engineering student, he believes that the theories learned in class should not only be applied in engineering but also in decision making for the community. He has taken part in different events that tested his skills in leadership and engineering skills.
In 2019, he took part in Ateneo’s Premier Management Engineering Orientation wherein he tested his skills in managing the resources available in our community. In 2020, he was an ambassador for the Bentanim movement, wherein he stood up with the farmers in promoting their products as they fight the struggles of the pandemic. And lastly, in 2024, he was accepted to be part of the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology Engineering Summer Camp for Elite Students wherein he tested his engineering skills to solve global challenges.
His experiences and principles lead him to be the current version of himself. A critical engineering student who always aims to address issues in our society. With that, he will talk about a timely issue that our university is currently facing. Let's give a warm welcome to Mr. Rafael Lava.
