I had horrible aching feet, varying joint pain (very active/very fit) & the hot flashes during night, etc but the strangest was constant dry, peeling chapped lips. Every day the skin would flake & I would pick off skin & repeat. To the point I saw my dermatologist when I was peri menopausal & she never thought about hormones. Once I officially went through (suffered greatly for long enough) menopause & started HRT all of these things reversed. I had tons of other issues that were very life changing which HRT completely turned around. HRT is LIFE-GIVING

I can understand the peeling lips you talk about mine do this constantly

My mum had lips like that, I called them her snakeskin lips as the skin looked like it was peeling in little bits. I need lip balm on my lips but no peeling. I'm taking HRT but my mum didn't get to have that, sadly 😊xx

Castor oil. Lip balms don't really work. Even vaseline is better. It's a sealant..

Gosh we need one of you in every surgery in the country. Ive felt so much reassured and gotten so many more answers from your vidoes than any number of the GPs I’ve seen in the last year for answers and help. Thank you for all of the work you’re doing you don’t know how appreciated you are.

I’ve had unexplained dry cough for about 3 years that is gone once I was put on estradiol patch with micronized progesterone. That explained all my perimenopausal symptoms that gradually started around that time as well

I asked my dentist about hormones and gums and teeth, she didn't know anything about it at all (and she's 45.) I mentioned you, I hope she will learn how important hormones are for mouth health.
I also asked an oral surgeon who was giving a talk on effects of osteoporosis medications about the role of hormone replacement in bone health of the jaw. Again, tumbleweeds 😢.
I hope things improve soon, I cannot understand the disinterest 😊xx

There is scientific data that applications even with estriol are very successful for gums. And periodontitis is the case of osteoporosis

Thank you very much Dr Newson you’ve covered some of my symptoms and this video is extremely informative.

My only perimenopause symptom was vertigo, it happened at the start of a heavy period whilst I had lost access to my pill during the pandemic. Back on treatment and touch wood never happened again! Loose or lost teeth can be an early symptom of osteoporosis so should prompt consideration of bone health.

I have shortness of breath that is quite scary… I’ve never smoked and don’t have asthma but my doctor insisted that it was asthma and so far I have been prescribed 5 different asthma medications none of which have helped. I’ve brought the topic of HRT up to my doctor at least four times and i literally get cut off mid sentence because they are too busy and not educated. I’d even be happy for a referral 😐. #Melbourne Australia 🇦🇺

I’m 10 years post menopause and finally on HRT after listening to your podcasts so thank you. One thing I have noticed is that some of the symptoms you mentioned such as palpitations, dizziness, tinnitus, noise fright seem to be more prevalent since I started HRT. Is this due to the change in hormones and should it start to improve with time?

Yes I struggle with the body odor change in my armpits. Still looking for a deodorant to help. I used to be able to not wear any and be fine, but not now😮. Sore tongue…yes. Ringing in my ear drives me nuts. Even saw and audiologist and ENT about it. Anxiety sucks and I want it to go away. Never had it before menopause and it’s awful. I do struggle with the lightheaded a lot. Seen a lot of specialist to rule stuff out. Ugh menopause. Still trying to find the right patch dose for me.

I had that and more and was contemplating quiting nursing due to terrible brain fog, anxiety, depression, fatique and more. But after 10 months of not being believed by the GP I got my breakthrough. I spoke to male Doc at the practice after finding out Dr Newson on social media. I was armed with info. He knew exactly what I was going through, got me to see the menopause specialist nurse and now I am on high dose Estrogen, progesterone and Testosterone. My life has changed drastically. I have been on it for over a year and I thank God daily. Get your Estrogen doses right and the rest and they will help. All the best.

Yes!! Understand about underarm odor suddenly back. This may work for you...sounds nutty but Google it and then pick it up at your grocery store. Phillip's Milk of Magnesia (unflavored, original) is a natural and cheap deodorant. It won't prevent wetness, but it definitely prevents odor (prevents bacteria growth.) Start w/clean underarms. Between bathing, I rinse my underarms thoroughly every morning/night. Then give the bottle a good shake, dip in a couple of fingers and saturate the underarms completely. Pat dry with a tissue/paper towel. Apply some body powder to help set it (I use Gold Bond Comfort powder w/aloe and chamomile, but others are fine, too.) Been using this for years, but before starting HRT 3 months ago, I could skip. Now I have to do at every morning. And BTW--I started having tinnitus, too...about 10 years ago. Finally saw an audiologist, too--said the tinnitus was "part of aging". Also light headed. Also anxiety. No sore tongue (but have heard of that w/low estrogen) and I expect the HRT will help with all of this. Good luck to us!

Went to ENT - nothing wrong.
Went to audiologist too and she thought I needed a hearing aid. Wondering if it was all hormones. Now on HRT so lets see

I had an episode of optic neuritis in my perimenopausal period, associated with severe fatigue and brain fog. This was fully investigated including several MRIs of the brain to rule out multiple sclerosis. On reflection I wonder if sudden drop in oestrogen levels could cause inflammation in optic nerve as an unusual side effect of menopause?

I am curious if burst blood vessels, particularly in the fingers, are common symptoms and how they might relate to overall health and menopause. I am 42 years old, and I have been on HRT for just over three years. I have been experiencing rosacea and recently burst blood vessels in my finger, which seem to be taking longer to heal. I have seen online discussions where women have mentioned these issues in relation to their menopause. Thank you

I have found no one with my unusual menopause symptom…over a year since starting estrogen replacement I suddenly developed a constant burning feeling in the head, face, neck, ears…and it’s not a hot flash. It’s awful, and nothing helps it. No rash, no outward signs, just an internal feeling of burning up. Also developed..after being on estrogen long time…bad dreams, horrible anxiety, paranoid, tinnitus. I can’t tolerate oral progesterone, but I suspect not taking it might be a culprit. No idea what to do.

Listen to her live on Progesterone, that might help you: th-cam.com/video/ZmNy1gChNFY/w-d-xo.htmlsi=BTc0GtFazqD2Cy7P
There's a vaginal progesterone called Cyclogest you can take if you cannot tolerate oral progesterone. Good luck.

Feeling the internal vibration, just started estrogel with prometrium, almost a month ago. I can say it has helped a little but not quite got rid of the symptom. I'm wondering if more time is needed or eventually a higher dose. Do you have any information on this or suggestions.

I apologise that I am asking question not related to topic but i dont know where to ask it. I had a pulmunary embolism more than ten years ago. Now i had surgical menopause (only lost my ovaries). I need hormones very much. I listened to your video about bioidentical oestrogen and micronized progesterone that are safe in situation like mine. But when i read drug leaflet in every one of them i see counterindications (even in transdermal only estrogen therapy) that are blod cloth or embolism present or in the past. Im scared and confused.

Can being hot constantly, instead of having hot flashes, be related to (peri)menopause too?

Yes, and being cold too. The cold flashes were just as bad as the night sweats as they lasted a lot longer for me. HRT has helped massively. I've always been a very chilly person, so just thought it was me, but since taking HRT realised it was def the hormone changes i was experiencing!

Started oestrogel & Ovestin last Oct which helped. Started Testogel abt Feb. Now and again have had some spotting. Over the wkend had a little more spotting but my body feels more like it did when I used to have periods. I'm 66 now and I think periods were about 15yrs ago. Spoke on phone appt last mth to gynaecologist clinic and she didn't like me being on the Testogel and asked who'd prescribed as she wouldn't do it until my levels were tested. But I trust yr info more as they don't care about face to face appts. So feel a bit worried now should I increase anything or stop anything??

Vaginal oestrogen or intrarosa (prasterone = DHEA which converts to oestrogen and testosterone) and topical testosterone I’m guessing. Assuming they’re on an aromatase inhibitor. Maybe progesterone too? I think Louise has done specific videos re cancer patients, try searching for those.
