    Melissa your video is fantastic and your knowledge is absolutely correct! More than half the world population is wearing 22k gold and they are having zero problem with it. Chains have to be made with an appropriate amount of gold, weight to be strong. In North America, the jewellers want to use as little gold as possible, therefore, they use mostly 10k and 14k for their jewelry and push the 10k and 14k misinformation of strength so customers will buy it. I have gold passed down to me from my mother, grandmother and have also purchased some on my trips and most of it is 22k. I also have 9k which I bought in Australia and 10k and 14k which I myself bought in N. America. The weight of the gold chain will determine the strength of it, not the karat. For every karat, there is an appropriate weight and that will determine the strength of the chain. It's amazing how ignorant some people are and just repeat the garbage and incorrect information that the seller is trying to give then!! 😄Excellent video Melissa!!

    Thanks for a great video! Question... When shopping, How can a person determine what level of quality the gold is? When a dealer advertised as 14k but how can this be verified?

  • @roringusanda2837

    This was actually informative! I've never worn a Cuban link, they look to masculine to me, but I thought that kinking up thing would happen with them, I was glad to see you point that out. I've seen the Franco so much and wondered why it's sooo popular...it looks pretty basic, but when you explained about how it lays, and combine that with the durability, I guess u can see why now. My dream is a 22k gold snake or box-snake chain...they look like a ribbon of gold, so silky and bright. I'd like a thick one, like maybe 4-6 mm. My most hated is the Cobra chain...I don't know who invented it or why, but they are so ugly, cheap and pointy, very uncomfortable...prone to breaking and kinking right out of the box. Why are they made at all??

    • @seankiesling2054

    Absolutely love your videos. I came across your channel because I was looking at how to take care of my 9 carat gold necklace that I bought so that I could wear my grandmothers old gold wedding ring, which over here in the UK has four marks inside the ring it’s actually stamping, so you know where the ring was made as in which county of England and what type. I can’t off the top of my head remember exactly what everyone represents without looking it up again. I would like to know and you may not be able to help me as you live in the United States, but the necklace I bought for the ring, I can barely see thethe hallmark on it, and I know I went to well known jewellery shop, but I’m always wanting to doublecheck that the person did not sell me a fake item. You may be able to help me even though my mum came along with me to get the necklace but what do they mean when they say it’s a 9 carat yellow gold is there some difference? P.s how old are you guys managed to afford all these very expensive gold jewellery because when you say 24 carat, I’m just thinking a hell of a lot of money?

      My mother has some jewellery that is the same, they have stamps, ours were Irish silver but I’m trying to trace one or two pieces.
      The mene 24 curb chain costs about 1,200 euro, not all the money in the world

    14k is always the best route when it comes to chains, they’re the most durable. 24k will easily break that’s why they’re not common for neckwear. Do not customize any gold jewelry with diamonds, that depreciates the gold by a lot.

    • @melissanacional9662
      @melissanacional9662  2 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      People saying 24k chains will easily break are typically people that don’t wear 24k and have just heard from other people to not do it. It’s totally wrong lol. Worn it everywhere and it’s as durable as my 14k lol

    • @manuelgarcia5961
      @manuelgarcia5961 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@melissanacional9662 it’s a malleable metal, pure gold is always gunna be softer, therefore it is common in necklaces . It usually ranges from 14-18k . 24k is not that common to be worn as a neck piece. They’re more susceptible to scratches and damage for how delicate they are

    • @melissanacional9662

      @manuelgarcia5961 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@melissanacional9662 yeah I have. Not saying it’s gunna break when u wear it, but it is more fragile if u really know gold. 24k isn’t as common as u think, that’s why most jewelry made is 14-18k. It’s rare you see someone rocking a 24k chain.
