  • This video discusses how certain karats of gold hold up with everyday wear as Jewelry. The most common gold karats in today's jewelry market are 10k, 14k, 18k, and 22k. This video focuses primarily on solid gold, NOT hollow gold, gold filled, or gold plated.

    I agree with your assessment of 18kt as the best to buy for ongoing wear. The higher gold percentage usually shows up nicely in comparison with lower karats. And you buy gold to wear and have people like your choices too, right? I think, though, if you're buying gold jewelry for a child or minor that 10kt would probably be good for starters. Some youngsters may not like jewelry too much or may be very hard on it. Time will tell if they will take to daily wear, less wear or none at all. Ric

    10:08 Great content! I would enjoy seeing some more videos with how your 24k chain looks after typical wear or other high karat necklaces you might have with months of typical wear. I would like to get a higher karat because of the color but don’t have a good reference for what it would look like into the future.

    Im Brazilian, & grew up between Brazil and UK. Gold is different in both countries. Brazil its only 18k, if you want higher purity you have to ask the jeweller if they can do it! In the UK its usually 9k in English jewellers, & if you want higher purity like 18k, 21k dubai gold, or 22k indian gold or 24k nepalese gold you have to know the specific areas where the asian communties are, & youll be in luck. I will never buy anything under 18k for myself or my daughter. I have 2 chains for her to wear when shes about 8 years old, shes 3 now & she had an 18k passed down from my mother but it was so thin even though solid, it broke many times so I bought a 2mm rope 16inches 12gs & a belcher chain 14in 8gs. She does wear the belcher on special occasions but the rope I have saved for her because its just so beautiful.

    Just subbed you! Im new to jewelry and Gold and i don't want to get too wreckless with a really expensive chain (expensive to me) i think for me starting off 10k is fine ..i can always give it to my son when I've grown out of it. Im a roofer for a living. Always trying to impress but have to stay within my budget ..seems like my view is looked down upon. I wish you had some 10k offerings.

    Will you be adding 22k in the near future?

    • @JonesGoldLuxury
      @JonesGoldLuxury  ปีที่แล้ว

      We would like to, yes. However they will have to be thicker designs due to less durability . Thicker designs weigh more , and cost more on top of higher gold content

      @JonesGoldLuxury that's no problem, I been watching you for a while and would love my next chain purchase to be from you. I love the knowledge that your starting to put out about different purity of gold content. My last purchase was a 22k 5mm miami cuban link at 24 inch that I purchased from saints gold co. And it's a awesome chain

    Only in the west and Europe do they wear 10 , 14k ,18k , the Middle East and Asia they don't even regard 10k or 14k as gold jewerly .In addition, there is a delusion about only low karat gold being suitable for jewerly. I have been living in Thailand for 18 years, except for high-end jewerly selling gemstones in gold jewerly is a little over 23k gold /96.5% pure .The whole country seems to wear 23k jewelry day and night, including myself and my wife, with no problem .India, where there are 1.4 billion people, it's mainly 22k and a China 24k , that's a lot of people wearing high karat jewerly. I'm not sure what you're doing in your sleep to destroy your jewerly, but the whole of Asia seems to have no problem .I do agree it's scratches easier, but anything that would destroy your 22k would also destroy your 14k , take your rings of when lifting weights, or work manually. That's about it.

      22k is fairly durable but 23k and 24k are susceptible to bending, denting, scratching and even breaking if they’re dainty. For me 22k is all I wear, I believe it’s the sweet spot. It’s nearly 92% pure, yet doesn’t appear less pristine. 23k and definitely 24k can look more crude. But I agree about wearing the purest jewelry possible, as long as it looks like a quality piece. 18k is acceptable if something is very heavy and you want to save money. Don’t bother with 14k and stay far away from 10k.

      Totally understand the ME and their standards for gold. But asia? Yes I can see why they wear pure gold. From what I know.. apartment /studio living is the way. Minimalist societies so they have money to spend on jewelry which takes up little space. Perfect for dwellings.obviously im not talking about the billionaires and heirs (if that's who you meant as everyone you know and see then can we be friends 😃)The west on the other hand...boats, cars,motorcycles, guns, ATVs...only thing we can afford is 14k after all that 😂.
