John Deacon got the idea for the bassline and riff from Chic's "Good Times." He was hanging out in the studio with some members of Chic and that's where the idea came from. And Michael Jackson, a huge Queen fan, was the one who encouraged the band to release the song as a single after he attended one of their concerts in LA and they played it
