    We took a test drive last weekend. My wife and I have never sat in or driven a Tesla before that. Never experienced FSD until then either. I have no idea what version we were using, but it was amazing. I intervened twice, but in hindsight, the car was right both times and I was wrong. When we got home, we ordered one. Model Y, rear wheel drive. With FSD.

    Great to see how far it's come with 12.5, although I do think these no intervention videos might start getting boring! Keep up the good work.

      @@RioPerez1 Was kinda complicated, and i get why it was confused. We came up to a red light that had two left turn lanes, one go straight lane, and one turn right lane. I wanted to go straight, but tesla stopped in the 'right' left turn lane. I would have let it go, but another car came up besides us to go straight, so i disengaged, waited, then reengaged when it was safe to continue going straight.

    • @MrFrmartin
      @MrFrmartin 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      The reason why i say i understand why it was confused, because if it had gone straight from where it was, it would have been on track, on the other side of the light, which had two lanes going straight. but the right lane there was for a different flow of traffic. so confusing for it, and im sure for other humans that were unfamiliar with that intersection

    When FSD final version works out, it will have big impacts on Tesla stock with crazy valuations. The shared property model will be the future. Your car parked out front may leave middle of night picking up an unknown person at airport and comes back two hours later. You don’t even know this event but it earns some taxi money for you.

    I think you might be missing something about auto margins. Cybertruck is not yet positive but heading to it. Each one sold is a cost until its startup costs finished. It’s ramped up massively. If you take the Cybertruck ramp up out of their figures they actually lowered the cost of goods which INCREASED their margins.

    Once FSD will become "Unsupervised", it will be eventually classified as a SAE Level 4 of automation. Just as a reminder, beyond Level 3, the responsibility in case of an accident is given to the car/car company, and it won't be the driver's fault. But between a Level 4 (potentially FSD with vision only, at the CURRENT STATE OF TECHNOLOGY) and a Level 5, the difference is exactly the environmental conditions in which it operates, with Level 4 being limited in critical weather scenarios, but completely autonomous in the other cases. I think the gap between L4 and L5 will be filled by Tesla with HW5, but vehicles equipped with HW3 and HW4 are going to be reasonably able to perform Level 4 autonomous drives.

    And what extra sensor, what type would give more correct information? I don't think lidar works in the rain, because the light gets scattered. Radar can see through rain, but does it give enough data? Radar can't see details nor for example the colors of the stoplight. More cameras is probably best, with mini wipers.

    • @brock8752
      @brock8752 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      I think that vision only is possible, but I would say that the best way for that to work is to have cameras with high frames per second. I'm not sure what their capability is now, but a high fps is important for those very rare split second decisions that can prevent a serious accident. But also, people need to realize that when the fully autonomous robotaxi does get on the roads, at least some accidents will happen. That is absolutely impossible to avoid, even if you had the most perfect system in the world. If someone darts in front of you in a small space while you're going 60 mph, the car just can't physically stop in time in certain cases. But some people honestly think that autonomous cars aren't acceptable unless they can achieve 0 accidents and that's ridiculous.

    • @GiesbertNijhuis
      @GiesbertNijhuis 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@brock8752 Zero no, but as safe as possible please. I am almost completely paralyzed by a car crash. With 12.5 this crash would not have happened. A higher framerate, yes but when the camera doesn't see because of rain or snow or bugs.. that was the topic and I guess solutions are: more cameras and all cameras need to be able to clean themselves somehow. Also stereo cameras, why is that not used? 2 "eyes" see more than 1 and the depth information seems potential very useful to me.

    • @GiesbertNijhuis
      @GiesbertNijhuis 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@brock8752 I asked ChatGPT4o, got this answer "The frame rate (fps) of the front camera of a Tesla Model 3 with Hardware 3 (HW3) is typically 36 frames per second (fps). This information is based on the capabilities of the Autopilot and Full Self-Driving (FSD) hardware provided by Tesla." and "The highest frame rate camera on a Tesla Model 3 with Hardware 3 (HW3) is the forward-facing main camera, which can record at 60 frames per second (fps). This high frame rate is utilized to capture detailed video data, which is crucial for the vehicle's Autopilot and Full Self-Driving (FSD) capabilities." So 60 FPS.

    • @brock8752
      @brock8752 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @GiesbertNijhuis I agree with you. They need to be as safe as possible. What I was saying is just that other technologies have their drawbacks as well, and that many people do think that autonomous should never get into an accident, which isn't realistic. I don't know exactly how autonomous can be the best with vision, but it may need some of what you said. My point is that we need a company to eventually prove that an autonomous car is significantly less likely to get into an accident when compared to humans; once such a car comes about, we still have to accept that it will still get into accidents occasionally. As long as it is proven to be a lot better than humans on average even with a vision only approach, then it should be allowed. I think we all want the overall goal: car accident numbers decreasing each year once we have autonomous cars.

    • @brock8752
      @brock8752 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @GiesbertNijhuis Also, when I brought up the topic of people wanting no accidents, I wasn't specifically saying that I'm response to your comment. I agree with your comment, and that was just something I hear a lot. The expectation that an autonomous car should be absolutely perfect, I mean.
