I'm the same way! I used to be so self conscious about it, but after a couple years I don't care any more. Most people are just busy with their own lives and don't really care, or they think it's cool someone is spending their time drawing.

I love thé idea of plein air sketching but I’m afraid I would be too self conscious. Has anyone ever made you feel uncomfortable watching you sketch?

Really hard to think of any times I've been made very uncomfortable. Maybe in Nepal, where sometimes a small crowd of people gathers to watch. Usually the interactions are positive! I used to be so self conscious of everything but drawing outdoors has given me so much practice being out in public, and made me realize nothing is scary about it. 0:39 in this video is a typical interaction!
