The biggest problem imo with the 30mm is its piddly DPS against infantry, having a 1v1 staredown with a Crawford and eating 2 RPGs before you can kill him is the reason I started using them, AA being better is definitely a bonus once you get used to it, though
I would say the 30mm is inconsistent against infantry, sometimes I'll melt through players and other times my bullets just seem to miss every shot, which should be impossible considering the rate of fire... The 35mm definitely feel more consistent against infantry once you get used to the lead time.
The only reason I have AA missiles equipped is because I haven't unlocked the AT ones yet. So I just try as best as possible to keep enemy flairs on cool down as often as I can with the AA missiles. Usually if I see enemy air attacking someone else. And when I'm being attacked only use my cannons
The AT missiles are amazing. Like actually I would say that they are critical so that you are able to fight other enemy armour. 50 damage to Wildcats and CAVs, ~34 damage against MBTs and TORs. Those are some good numbers considering you get two of them. If the enemy drivers don't counter them then you are set! Even if they do, if you play your cards right you can still get two of them into them with some careful maneuvering! I would strongly recommend just ditching the AA missile completely, even though you have it equipped it is holding you back from downing aircraft.
Against sweat pilots, you just cant catch the attack chopper by surprise. They always switch to 3rd person view often and the maps in BF2042 are that small and confined that it's very easy to spot where the Wildcat is. They will keep distance WHILST committing to the attack, you wont be able to down them with 30mm or 35mm as they wont come within effective range. Wildcat must then run to cover. But cover is very scarce for the wildcat, especially against high altitude attacks. The maps in BF2042 were not made for this, unlike maps in BF4 or BF3 Armored Kill. Hence you must cling to Irish APS. Which DICE will nerf in the near future. The small maps in this game dont allow for proper vehicle gameplay.
@@Eric-qx1kxlet's be real most BF 2042 maps are not made for infantry and ground vehicles not like Haven, Redacted and Spearhead where you get most great battles.
THIS. This is why I don't have AT missiles yet. I cannot even use the wildcat besides hopping into a random person's and abandoning my squad, which I do not want to do.
Anothet great vehicle vid! Another tip, when you have an aircraft or helo commit to a head on run at you, moving into them, even slowly, means they have to keep adjusting downward. Hyper-focused or less experienced pilots can meet the ground quickly
I played the wildcat and I tell you it was difficult cause the enemy air vehicle will devastated you if you're not keeping a eye on the more but there times when I won the fight by making them disengage and recover or destroyed them I highly recommend playing Irish cause his sentinels can really protect you from and rockets and cannons but it won't always protect you but give you more survivalbilty
Yeah this only works if you're stationary for a long time because you have to get out, place them and stay near them. If that's how you like to play, fair enough but I like to get into combat with the enemy and support objectives etc, I don't struggle to do that in the wildcat
I have a great time using the AA missiles I fire once just to make them pop their flares and by the time they loop around I have both my missiles ready to go I fire my missiles and I get the kill
Great video! Very well thought out and filled with good advice. I definitely agree, you really have to stay on the move and pick your shots carefully. I tend to use lock-ons to encourage heli’s to flare. They sometimes run but it helps make them vulnerable to other players and I’m not in the same place when they come back looking for me. If they are dumb enough to stay around after they flare, I fire and take the kill.
As a main stealth heli pilot I believe that it is the strongest helicopter in terms of vehicle destruction. This is something I rarely see other people do so I understand your opinion that it is not much of a threat. However, if a skilled pilot lands all 4 bombs in a vehicle, it will go from 100 to 0 in less than a second, doesn't matter which vehicle it is. What I often do is fly low around the map and get behind vehicles, most of the time they don't see me and I can drop all bombs on target.
I’ll go with the 35 but keep the AA missiles for aircraft that just flared, or when the cannons overheat…good call on not trying to lock incoming strafers
before the 25% nerf against attack helis, the 30 mm was just way better than 35mm (except against transport helis). After that, 30 mm is no longer viable.
I agree. The attack helicopters are really the main problem here. Either way I have enjoyed picking them up and I am very happy I made the switch. Melting nightbirds before they can react is just hilarious to me :)
Let’s be honest a good aa driver vs a good pilot has only one outcome and it ain’t the aa driver….Game has massive vehicle balance issues Great video though far better than other vids I see by far
I played wildcat for a long time now I get your point the wildcat is very underpowered to fight jet/heil even with this video you know what you're doing if you don't pay attention or even you do those good pilots will get the upper hand the wildcat need a buff really bad.

Ive honestly never tried the 35mm cannons ive always used the 30mms with anti vehicle missiles. The 30mms used to be great against aircraft, passable against infantry and against enemy geound vehicles even though they dont do much damage they do ignore APS and are great for chipping while the missiles are on cooldown to stop enemies healing. I'll try the 35s though
Any clue which ground vehicle would be the best to get ground vehicle kills im trying to get the WMD tag and i need 10 ground vehicle kills in one round
They are completely melted by competent Wildcat users. I've found that exploiting the long range of the Hydras and pulling off as soon as they begin firing is a good strategy. It takes a bit to get them destroyed but it's worth it to stay safe. I would say that 90% of Wildcat users are still using AA missiles which should be to your advantage in the jets. Though I've not played with the new increased flare patch yet.
Here's the facts: 1. To attack a wildcat, you must keep at a straight line at a moderate speed to attack it with any ordance. 2. If the wildcat sees you at any point of this attack, to leave quickly, you must expose the biggest, most vital part of your jet (The entire underbelly). 3. The AA missiles of the wildcat can chase you across any range, any map. I've done test w/ my friend and he managed to get a 2100m kill from the removed helipad on breakthrough to around the wide silos that make a massive explosion. Both of the AA missiles hit me after going full afterburner and evasive maneuvers. 4. The speed and inconsistency of jets makes hiding to let flares recharge is almost impossible, leaving jets with serious downtime as the most targeted air vehicle by default. 5. The AA (wildcats especially) Seems to be unfairly balanced against everything that isn't a nightbird tryhard or pre-nerfed transport helis, making Jets even more underpowered since they will almost always be subject to AA's view. I think the balance now should be revisioned for each class of Air Vehicle, because even though I believe it should generally be, AT Heli->AA->Jets->Helis for the air vehicle's food chain, currently even subjecting for defensive methods in jets isn't really enough if you want to impact the match in any way. @@marzipandan767

I feel like AA missiles have their place If you don’t have to worry about killing enemy ground vehicles super often, then AA missiles can be great. They suck if you use them against a helicopter actively strafing you. But when a helicopter is occupied with strafing someone else, fire one missile to waste their flares, then fire a missile after flares have worn off. Won’t work on every pilot, but it’s a great choice against helicopters and planes that are a bit too far to engage with guns Or use AT missiles and a SOFLAM Player to chest the system lmao

But I wouldn't fault anyone going AT missiles, as I do feel it's the stronger option by a bit. If the game had skill-based matchmaking AT would be the clear winner by an overwhelming lead. It's only because it's so common to want to cash in on rapid, free flare-less kills that I often go AA missiles. But again, don't be the "lockon first" style players, they're terrible. Always main gun first unless you know for a fact they're out of flares.
Playing wildcat feels like sh%t because even the targets you're suppose to be good at killing can fight back with reasonable chance of winning. And any low level engineer will be able to hit shots on a stationary wildcat while you're trying to hit air vehicles. Also , infantry can't chip in with their damage like how it is while fighting ground vehicles , if they have a way to damage it , they can likely kill it too. The investment to reward ratio is just not there, getting good with lissile is just a better use of time and energy.
It really depends on both users' skills. As someone who frequently flies and plays with the wildcat, I think they are balanced pretty well against each other.
