    hi gary and amika. you parked at langden brook in the trough of bowland. near dunsop bridge . normally there is a van parked there that sells fantastic bacon muffins...the forest of bowland is beautiful with lanes hardly used by traffic. you really must explore the whole area. love your vids.

      Hi John, thanks for this, absolutely stunning part of the British Isles. Had no idea, its feels so remote yet not far from anywhere really. Do you have any suggestions where we should visit in the area?

  • @bigtrev998
    @bigtrev998 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I travel through the 'Trough of Bowland' Road, on a regular basis. Did you know that ropad, that you slept next to, was the main highway between Clitheroe and Lancaster. Back in August 1612 the poor 'Pendle Witches' who were from the village of Sabden, were transported alopng that road, shackled in a horse drawn cart. They were tried in Lancaster Assizes, in the castle. They were hanged on the 20th August...........it is a two day cart ride from Clitheroe to Lancaster. They must have slept in the 'Trough' over night. Who knows, maybe yards from where you and the little ones slept the night !!!!😁

      Trevor! Thats a brilliant bit of history but damn scary, I must admit I went out int he dark a few times and I felt like someone was out there watching me, so this story is so touching. How eerie!

      @@TravelwithGaryandAmika Just a suggestion, but you guys need to try beautiful Wycollar and Haworth. Only 90mins from the north of Lancashire. Plenty of quiet places on Park4night. The little one should love it, but don't let her try riding her bike down Haworth main street - you'll never cat h her!!

    Gherkins are my favourite bit. A few years ago I was climbing in Scotland with my mate who for someone who had traveled the world had never heard of midges and left the door of the camping pod open over night, needless to say I woke up in the morning having been eaten by the damn things 🦟

    • @TravelwithGaryandAmika
      @TravelwithGaryandAmika  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Ah the midges, thankfully English midges are only a pest, the Scottish ones are next level!!!

    How about you buy a bag of Wonky carrots and/or apples from one of the supermarkets just for the horses you encounter during your travels. They will be your friends then! Gherkins - when I was a kid, I ate loads of them one after the other until I was sick. I never wanted to eat one again for years. Now I like them in a burger.

    hi again gary and amika loved the vid and we know that parking spot so well in the trough of bowland. langden brook....normally a van is parked there selling the best bacon muffin you will ever find...cannot believe you have never been to forest of bowland seeing that you only live 35 miles away..guess its near carnforth ,the place we love. ,you must adventure all over there ...peaceful roads everywhere with wonderful parking places..lots of best wishes to you both

      Hi Jon, sorry I missed your comment.
      I heard about the van selling great food! I know right, but honestly I used google earth and assumed it was just moorland, its absolutely stunning, can't wait to go again very soon. Love how they have banned cutting the wildflowers and are protecting the verges from parking etc. May go again at the weekend!
      Best wishes back to you and yours. Gary (and little Amika)

    I would eat the gherkins but remove the meat lol. I love sliced gherkins but can't eat the whole gherkins. I have bad side effects if I eat meat, I can eat bacon but it has to be covered in brown sauce. Xx
