    We definitely have our work cut out gardening on the new allotment plot and returning it to productivity and cultivation based on its current condition.
    We'll be trying a few different techniques to try and clear the grass / overgrown scrub - from trying no dig and clearing the area afresh.
    We have some great plans for an orchard area and no dig beds for regular vegetable growing.

    Get some goats on there, they'll have cleared in a day or two, then bring in the pigs. Here in the southeast (US) ppl rent goat herds for this kind of work 💚

      Congratulations on getting your new plot! Little steps make huge leaps or something 🤣 if I did it again I’d mulch / cover any areas I couldn’t get to, to keep the weeds in check. Potatoes are good to start with. All the best of luck! 🤞Cheers, Andy

    Your following Charles Dowding no dig he's expanded his plot he puts cardboard/ compost on top and plants in thanks for your time 👍👍👍👍

      Thanks Graham! He’s certainly inspired me to try out no dig with the new plot - it would be a real game changer to get results in clearing the ground of all that grass and weeds without clearing it by hand or resorting to chemicals. 👍

      Thanks, that's really appreciated! I'm overdue a brush cutting session on the new plot and a tidy up of the lazy bed to harvest the potatoes, so there will be some new plot content coming soon! Cheers, Andy!

    So.e hard graft in front of you buddy but worth it once its cleared youv not got to do it again. I no when I took my first plot on it was a pure jungle. Took me a solid three days of strumming clearing and digging. I went for the raised bed approach. Years back when I was a kid with my grandad and dad it was all opening growing lot of hard work each year digging ect.
    At least with raised beds your confining the growing area and easy to keep o top. I no you loose a little growing space and iv got paths inbetween with membrain and bark chips and some haveing slabs. Have you always grew open space or ever had raised beds. All the best new subscriber enjoy your content all the best and take care john.

      Thanks John and thanks for commenting! I'm always in two minds about raised beds - we did have one, and hadn't bothered for a long time until we got the polytunnel up. The cost of wood is always an issue and it was a right faff getting enough from skips and "waste" wood to build them otherwise.
      We quite like mounding up the beds - and putting weed fabric between them -moving the paths as need be each season to put the ground under the paths to use periodically.
      I will definitely build them in the polytunnel space for the replacement (whatever that might be :-)) and I'm in no rush to buy and put another one up in this weather.
      Thanks again and stay safe! Andy

    Ok this is very exciting! I have a second plot too! I have trees on my second plot too!

      @beansbrewsandbread  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Oh cool! Mine got swapped out as it was way too much work (there's a later video on that) but we do have a new half second plot. Needs a good clearing and we have some plans for it with apples and some heritage and medieval crops (I think we also covered that off as well in a video). Is your second plot close - mine doesn't neighbour up unfortunately. Cheers, Andy
