    Biking to your allotment once or twice a week sounds like great exercise and great meditation. A path in the middle could just be a line to walk to maintain the area in the middle. For me, it would be too wide to reach in from the sides.
    There are people planting their plants in a depression in the soil, so it creates a windbreak, water moat, insulated zone for the plant. The ones I have seen decrease the level of the entire bed though, so might not work for you, and mostly used in desert gardens. It is a very interesting idea though.
    If you can find the hole in your boots, try taping the inside and duct taping the outside. I have patched all sorts of things with duct tape. Yes, eventually it fails, in which case you can do it again, or at that time, get a new item. However, the duct taped, cracked outer wall of my hose is still not leaking, 3 years after it started to crack, so that is 3 years of less consumption of that item. The duct tape is something we have had for over 10 years now and it is still a giant roll.

    An hour and a half from the Netherlands! He didn’t make bad time 😂 that’s how I heard that when listening 😂

    He's done well to cycle from The Netherlands in that time. What was the mistake in the end? Did you ever get round to saying what it was?

      @seanjamescameron  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes, I mentioned it twice in the video.

    Where will those with plots in the middle of this field put their sheds?

    • @seanjamescameron
      @seanjamescameron  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      On their plots like every other allotment site.

      My mistake. I thought you planned to put your shed by the side of your plot on the grass

    Shhh...t! LOL! I did no dig this year. Truthfully, I have never had so much abundance of food in the past 40 to 50 years of gardening as I had this year. And the flowers were unexpectedly over-abundant. I put annuals alongside perennials - 5 rows of asparagus I put in as seed a couple of years ago. Everything grew so incredibly tall and produced no stop for months.
    I used spent hay for mulch because I had it on hand. But I have my no dig in my backyard. No travelling involved.

    That's massive, cool.
    i wouldn't worry about raking it, just let it go, the creepy crawlies won't care.

    Looking at the distance you have to wheel the compost to your plot, you wont need to bike to the allotment to lose weight. Great new channel.

    Geoff.

    The plots look similar to the ones used by a TH-camr John (Tokyo allotment) I follow. They have to reapply for a plot each year and must clear the plot completely in January. They have communal tools too. Looks like a good idea.

    • @seanjamescameron
      @seanjamescameron  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      We don't have to do that on these plots so it doesn't sound like the same place.

    Hi Sean, is there just the one water tank for all those plots ? Good call getting a plot next to it. And are there any on site facilities?
    If the site is run by Roots allotments they do a cycle to grow scheme with 0%finance on electric bikes.

    • @seanjamescameron
      @seanjamescameron  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      There are tanks throughout the site. Yes I’ve seen the bike scheme, just need to save up first.

    What is happening to the other allotment ? I thought you were doing rather well there. This new one is open to the elements , it looks terrible ! It has no soul unlike the other one. 😮

    • @seanjamescameron
      @seanjamescameron  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I clearly state in the video that is it a NEW allotment site so of course it's going to look bare for the first year. The other allotment is doing very well, latest video from there came out last week.

    Love the weather. Sunny, rain, rainbow, then cold. The plants will love it for the most part. The allotment is a nice size and you will have plenty of neighbors. Fun video and the cats are too cute.

    This is one of the best and positive video which you’ve made for the last year, my opinion 😊😊😊 wish you have this progress in everything with “+”, even with appropriate appearance for the meeting )))
    I very like your approach, hope Charles appreciated it aswell😊😊😊
    Sorry to hear re transportation in London, we have info in each station when the bus will arrive, separated pass for public transport(incl taxi), and options to charge any phone battery inside the most of buses and everywhere in metro…
    But anyway, I think you’ve got very good conditions in this allotment, and no need to have the same size of shed as you have on other sides… some privacy could be enough, and sun protection…

    Why do you need to level the plot, the veg wont know its not level 😂😂😂

    • @seanjamescameron
      @seanjamescameron  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      But the water will and if it’s not level it creates frost pockets because it can’t run off 😂😂😂😂
