from a film making perspective the most impressive thing to me is how fast they make these videos. Ive had dumb youtube video essays that took longer than this music video and its just emmaculate.
Thanks for another great breakdown! It's really impressive how consistently great their music videos are, considering how many they do. It's not like they do three videos for an album and then call it a day. It's such an important part of their brand, and you can tell that they're aware of that and fully embrace it. I don't think you pointed it out, but I think it's funny how the drummer is set up in the water for that outro. I didn't catch it for a while, until I saw a commenter point it out in another reaction.
Thanks so much and I'm so glad you enjoyed it! Honestly I hadn't spotted that he's in the little pool or fountain at all. *facepalm* so much other stuff going on, too! Just like how I hadn't spotted that they changed their instruments for more colorful ones in the last part with the choreo. Just excellent eye for detail! EC is just so on the ball with all of their stuff and their marketing is next level, just so impressive!
This is a missed opportunity. There also is the Making of / Behind the Scenes video for "Everytime We Touch". If you're analyzing the video, this would have been a must-watch! Highly recommended!
In fact, it is not Kevin who is lying in bed, but really a woman. The same woman was already seen on the Tekkno Train. They wanted to make sure that no one recognizes Kevin's feet and legs and that they really assume a woman lying in bed, so that the surprise really hits. The castle is privately owned and rented. Sometimes to normal people, for example for weddings and other events. So it's not that expensive for two days. By the way, the landlords didn't know that a music video was being filmed. Nico said his feet were bleeding from these shoes and dancing. In addition, it was hot that day and they were very focused on the sun because of all the light coming into the castle that was filmed. That's why the long one shot had to work pretty quickly, because the sun doesn't stop. Or rather, the earth continues to rotate while the sun is stationary. Today you have to be especially careful how you write things. For some people the earth became flat again. 😂 And of course it has to be mentioned that David sits there with his drumkit in the well in the water and plays.
Electric Callboy are the most entertaining band in the world right now, not put out a bad song in last 3 years and live shows just a massive rave of metal & EDM riffs that fill audiences with a euphoria 😆🤘
2 things I really love are music and Movies, but I really love that you talk about how these Videos are made and the explanations of the different jobs on the set, and what is this persons job. And you explain it in such an easy way for me to understand. In other words I really love these kind of Videos you put out.
These are always enjoyable, both from an educational standpoint and solidarity in our love for EC and the Schillo brothers. I learned something... Didn't know what a Dutch angle was. Thank you!
The "sad" thing is that nearly no one detected that at the end the drummer David is in the water, in the well. I also only saw it in the behind the scene video. I can remember only one reaction who saw this (and mentioned it). The legs in the bed belonged to a female, you can catch this in the behind the scene video. But I guess it is intentionally, to mess with your thoughts before as well as after Kevin jump scared you.
The suggestiveness of the slapping handshake sounds is often commented on under the reactions videos in the comment section, but indeed not by the reactors themselves.
@@manondereeper It was remarked by some reactors, too. Often not directly , as "it sounds not as a handshake anymore" or something like this. But it were not very much.
I believe they created it unintentional. I can imagine the original idea for it was just a last exaggeration of the song itself: "Every time we touch, I get those feelings", hence such a long handshake. If it were intentional, I guess they would have changed it midway through somehow to emphasize that thought in the listeners mind by speeding it up more and more or add some squeaking noises for example. I am surprised, though, the obvious joke flies over so many heads. Never heard it someone mention even though it's literally in the title. ^^

I'm not sure you have already but in case you haven't, I'd recommend Heilung "Anoana" the official music video. It's probably the one they have put the most effort to and it shines. I always learn from your videos and analysis- here, about the „color grading“ which is a term I wasn’t really familiar with although of course I can see it - and now see it even better thanks to you! the warm/cool contrast at the beginning that then evolves over time to create prgression - fascinating and totally right! I guess at the end it sort of „fuses“ to become the natural light outside? Keep in mind I have no idea what I’m talking about 😅 Anyway great work as usual ❤

The first time I watched this & I saw them feet in the bed & I'm like "I bet that's Kevin" & it was! They openly give each other kisses & pats on stage & it's super wholesome Iirc the castle is in Castrop region which is where they're from. It's a beautiful location & such a luxurious looking clip even if poor drummer Daniel was in a pool for a bit there.
while it's true that it's supposed to be Kevinb in the bed, I read somewhere that the feet and legs belong to the model who also featured in the Hypa Hypa videos.
@@Andy_from_de Yes, that was probably only done to lull the viewer into a false sense of security that it is not Kevin in bed. You know, to enable to jump-scare to still hit you.
I wonder why no-one ever sees that this video cries "Bollywood" all over: location, colours, choreography, costumes, the dance on the stairs. ETA: hair and beards!
As someone else in the comments already stated, it's not actually Kevin in the bed, there's an intentional misdirect. We're seeing a woman's legs during the pan that establishes the geography of the scene so that it's a surprise when Niko sits up where the audience expected a woman. The queer coding is 100% intentional and a light-hearted joke about the affection that Niko and Kevin clearly have for each other, something they frequently joke about in their BTS videos. I find it quite endearing that they are secure enough to satirically poke fun at their closeness without being derisive; it's healthy for men to be able to express affection for each other without there being any romantic interest. It's also a clever way to call out the performative masculinity of metal (or, rather, the performative nature of self-expression in general). It goes hand in hand with EC's rapid genre-swapping. It's like they're saying, metal, pop, electronica, heavy, light, masculine, feminine, queer, cishet, these are all equally valid modes of expression, it's okay to love and identify with them all. I find that enormously wholesome.
@@manondereeper Also, Hurrikan and Nice Boi would be awesome from a filmmaker perspective. FCK BOI is pretty good too but it's somewhat of a basic vid.

@@manondereeper absolutely. That's mainly why I'm sitting here going 'which ones do I want to see from a filmmaker perspective' rather than just 'which ones are good'. Definitely Nice Boi, Hurrikan, Pump It would be the top three from that perspective.
If you watch the behind the scenes video, Kevin is not the in the bed until just before he sits up. It's a woman with beautiful long curly hair. Those tattooed feet and legs are not Kevin either.
I'm not sure you can really call this "leaning into the queer thing". Germany has this reputation as this overly sexual, perverted, out there and perhaps queer place, but in reality it is still quite conservative and straight and the queer stuff is limited to 2 or 3 bigger cities and the rest of the country scoffs at it. I lived in Germany for 46 years now (well, 45 rather, since I spent 1 year in China) and I met like 3 openly gay people, or better said I saw 3 openly gay people. 2 were a lesbian couple I saw holding hands at a super market and I was served by a stereotypical flaming waiter at a restaurant once. But that is it. Everything gay is still considered inherently funny and ridiculous and that is what they are doing with this video and with their "bromance" jokes in their Vlogs. It is a goof and I guess you could call it homophobic. The thought that 2 men could be in a sexual or romantic relationship with each other is still very much hilarious in Germany. And no, I am not a "SJW" Wokie who complains about that. I am fully on board with them and with finding gay stuff funny, silly and embarrassing.

I can only get better as I keep doing this! :) I hope you'll be able to grant me patience.
For as far as I'm aware they aren't necessarily queer (though who's to say, if they are married to a woman they can still identify as bisexual). I didn't say *they* are queer, I said that what they create is queer-leaning. I agree with you that they seem secure enough in their masculinity and don't take themselves seriously, and that's exactly what I like so much.
