Steve you are my absolute favourite TH-camr. You give good, sound advice. You give good tips and trick. You are always doing tests and experiments. You are kind and encouraging to everyone. You are an intelligent and knowledgeable man. And most of all, YOU ARE A LOVELY, LOVELY PERSON. Thank you so much for all your help and advice and good humour. And for being just GREAT! From one brit to another, God bless you Steve. YOU ARE LOVED!
Oh… WD-40 also gets the sticky of uv resin off too! Some brands of resin, no matter how long you cure em under a lamp will have a sticky residue…. WD-40 gets that stuff off quick and leaves a lovely shine!
I've been working with resin for 20 years and I'd never come across micro brushes before! Thanks so much they are brilliant! No matter how long or not we've been working with resin there is always a new technique or tool to learn about. Thanks again for your entertaining and informative channel :)
I like the plastic shot glasses, since you can also use the long neck lighter to heat up a nail or paper clip (use gloves or pliers to hold) and press it on the inside lip of the shot glass and pull outward (don't let it stick) to make a spout so you don't have to transfer once mixed! Makes for a more accurate spout than the pre-molded silicone ones.
Every time you use a tool of any kind it helps us learn! We grow better at the things we try because you have given us the knowledge in your videos that probably has taken you a lifetime to learn. Thank you Steve 😊!! I appreciate you and all the knowledge you share!
Nothing I haven't heard before, since I have followed you for a couple of years, but it was still nice to see you and hear your happy, cheerful voice today!
Thank you so much for all your videos Steve!!! I started buying some stuff for some resin projects that I have in mind and with the help of your videos I finally feel confident to make them without too much mistakes 😅
One suggestion - instead of these small shot glasses (they look like hard plastic that shaters if pushed too hard) try PP medicine serving glasses. I bought them really cheap (from a medical supply shop) and PolyPropylen is soft plastic so it won't break and it also has a mililiter scale (to 30ml) so it allowes to measure very small quantyties of resin. Also if you won't clean it immediately hard resin is sooooooooo easy to remove & reuse it almost indefinitely. LOVE YOUR CHANNEL BTW
Many of the resin tools I've bought over the years have been gotten based on your great recommendations. You have great and economical ideas. I thank you for all you do for us!
I wish I had known or thought about using WD 40 or GooGone on the backs of bezels for tape residue BEFORE I just gave up cleaning them and throwing them away!! I instead bought the green tape meant for them, and now rarely make bezel jewelry due to the expense. Now I can cut loose and bezel my heart out! Thank you so much Steve! As for the florist foam I have one block set aside for all of my molds like you showed, a spot for each one and I never have to figure out how to fill them. I keep others on hand for the next mystery that needs to be solved in my resin world 🌎.
Love your information. I can't believe I didn't think of snipping the end of the pipette. I could never figure out how to use them but this makes them a snap. Thanks
I've bought so many of the items that you recommend on your vids. The best thing I have is the micro brushes, they've lasted me ages. A lot of my work has been better from following your channel. Thanks so much for your clear and easy tips 👍🏻
These are great tips. I have a 6 year old and 3 year old so alway have baby wipes in my house. When I was starting doing resin I found your videos and found many great tips from you. The best one is the micro brushs. I use then for many different thing. Thank you so much for all your tip and tricks. You have really helped me with my resin
Ive used baby wipes for the last 40 years since having my son! Most crafters I know use them. Those little micro brushes were brought out for make up, their is different ends you can get on them. Me and my friends use long neck lighters for other crafts, like sealing material, or ribbon. The shot glasses you can get from the pound shop, I am using some we had from our wedding 30 years ago, that shows how long they last. hugs x Ann x
Good list of things to have! I use almost the same. But not all of them, as I began to do resin in lockdown time and had to use what I had at home. But I must confess: I love prepacked desserts just like you. 😁 And I´m hoarding all sorts of cups. 😂 Some of them are great molds, too, like the ones from this big candles people use at graveyards. What´s really cool: this test tubes you can get from your veterinary for samples of droppings - normally you have then a nice little pendant mold (the tube) plus a handy little stirrer (the spoon thingy inside the tube). Mold releaser is a must with these tubes, however, and most times I break them when I try to demold. But you can use them as little shakers, too, only fill the tube with your glitter and oil and seal them all over, sides and all. When I was a teenager, we did that with soapy water, sequins, sand and so on and sealed them with a cork and hot glue. 😄 Didn´t hold too long, but it was fun. Instead of the floral foam I have a big old planter with seramis (a mineral plant substratum) in which I stick my little molds to keep them from tipping or falling over. Works for levelling, too, when you lay a little shelf board in it and level it out with the level app of your smartphone. Micro brushes I didn´t try as I use makeup appliers and silicone brushes for powders in doing my nails and am accustomed to it. And instead of the WD40 I use baby oil to clear up sticky residues from tape and remove unwanted stickers like price stickers and so on. If I use nailart sealer gel for doming I clean the sticky layer up with aceton free nail cleaner pads and shine it up with nail oil or coconut oil. Ballistol works, too.
Was aware of the usage of all of the items in your suggested tips... with the exception of the floral foam...what a great idea! Thanks for sharing your wealth of knowledge, expertise and experience with us!
I really love your channel and appreciate all the tips and tricks you share with us. You’ve given me so many great ideas and a lot of inspiration. Keep up the fantastic work! Also, so getting some of those micro brushes.
I love these! Baby wipes are super great for polymer clay work too. It gets the oils off my hands way better than just soap and water. I do let my resin dry in my cups sometimes.. but it's much easier to clean them if you just flip them inside out, then I use packing/duct tape to get the little drips.
Love everything you said. Still haven't quite mastered the art of pipettes yet. Just one thing--the florist foam you mentioned in the dropdown from Amazon was not oasis, it was for the styrofoam type. Thanks for everything!!!
Dear Steve, thank you sooo much for these clever tricks and tips! And thank you for your videos! I am completely addicted. Such inspiration and such fun!

Also the micro brushes for adding in streaks of mica powder when I don't want it mixed in. Keep doing what you are doing, love you to bits! xx
Baby wipes are a heck of a lot cheaper than buying rolls of paper towels!!!! I use the fragrance free wipes myself…. A 3 pack of fragrance free wipes from Walmart is like $4.48 …
I've picked up baby wipes, micro brushes, AND floral foam because of your videos in the past, and all have helped me greatly in my resin work. Thanks for sharing!

Finally got those micro brushes...500 of 'em, Steve! lol Amazon had nothing smaller, apparently! Can't live without my baby wipes and packing tape, either! I use baby wipes a lot too, but I found a little hack that I use from being a special effects makeup artist is actually if you get a bunch of resin on your gloves you can put baby powder on them and it absorbs all of the resin gets rid of it and makes the gloves reusable if it’s just a little bit of resin then baby wipes work perfect but sometimes I get a decent amount on there and I quickly spritz baby powder on my hands and just wipe around like I’m washing and the stickiness and the resin are gone! Also I am still having a trouble trying to get to your link to become a member, no maybe I’m just not clicking on the right spot. Thank you so much for this video
Thanks for sharing this information with us!! I'm not fond of the flower foam stuff, I have saved several plastic caps from spray cans that I stand my small molds in ( the ones like you showed.). They work really well, are reusable, and can be moved easily. After cleaning up I just store the molds right in the caps, in the bags. The rest of the tools you mentioned I use all the time ☺️☺️. I've even started making the wipes myself.... The good ones are hard to find sometimes. Stay safe, you do you, and stay crafty.🛎️🛎️🔔🔔👍👍🦋🦋
@@SteveMcDonaldArtsandCrafts I found this from googling "make baby wipes at home". Here's the one I use: 2TBSP COCONUT OIL 2TBSP BABY WASH ( preferably unscented) 2 CUPS FILTERED WATER 3DROPS TEA TREE ESSENTIAL OIL 1/2 PAPER TOWEL ROLL 1 AIR TIGHT CONTAINER Pour 2 cups water in a glass measuring cup and heat in microwave for 1-1/2 minutes. Scoop the coconut oil and baby wash into the cup. Add drops of essential oils. Whisk until dissolved. With a serrated knife, cut a roll of paper towels in half( use your muscles). Put it into a sealed container or jar. Pour the mixture over 1 half of the paper towel roll and let sit for 1 - 2 minutes. Once all the towels are saturated, pull out the cardboard tube ( I take the tube out before I add the mixture). You can now pull from the middle. PUT THE LID ON AND STORE. ( I try to make them up a day or 2 before I need them, that way I can turn the jar over a couple of times.)
Unfortunately I have not found packing tape to be sufficient as a dam for UV resin. Just an FWI. 😀 I have tried baby wipes for resin, with limited success I’m afraid. Not sure what I’m doing wrong, and I’m not using cheap ones either! I use alcohol wipes but never for molds. I just wrap those up as soon as I demold. I also notice that you touch the insides of your molds with your bare hands! 😬 I never touch them, even with gloves on if I can help it! Thanks so much for all your suggestions as always Steve. I do use all of those little cheap tricks and I’ve learned a lot of them from watching you! Cheers!
Hi Steve love your videos just starting doin free flow moulds with resin..is baking parchment the best to use with silicone? Would be grateful for your advice
Hi Steve, quick question. Which concrete or cement do you recommend for making coasters, planters, pots etc etc. love your videos and this was so informative. Thank you

Also I saw ur video for making ur own crystals 🔮 and in that video u mentioned that u would be using them in a future project, but I can't find that project, help me find it if u did it or do the project so I cam watch it. But please 🙏 keep up the gd work!
Hi Steve, I’m working away through your videos and I just wanted to say they are full of information, hints and tips. Can I ask how to become a member of your channel, I would be very interested in your business info videos, but when I click on the link there is no join button. Really love the video on how to dry your own flowers using the sand,
Hi wanted to ask a question about exopy resin. Once cured, I was advised to drill through the resin to get to a bubble that appeared inside where I had placed an object in the resin. That was fine however the resin around the drilled area has now gone cloudy and not clear as I need it to be. Any ideas on how to solve this issue please? Tried alcohol spray and wiped out the hole. Any suggestions appreciated as it's a gift for someone. Thank you Joy Whitehouse
I have also seen people put baby wipes in the dryer to dry them out so they can use them with acetone or alcohol to get paint off of things without the lint of a paper towel 🤯
Thanks!

@@SteveMcDonaldArtsandCrafts me too 😅
@@SteveMcDonaldArtsandCrafts I found this from googling "make baby wipes at home".
Here's the one I use:
2TBSP COCONUT OIL
2TBSP BABY WASH ( preferably unscented)
2 CUPS FILTERED WATER
3DROPS TEA TREE ESSENTIAL OIL
1/2 PAPER TOWEL ROLL
1 AIR TIGHT CONTAINER
Pour 2 cups water in a glass measuring cup and heat in microwave for 1-1/2 minutes.

Love your videos. May I ask for advice? I am currently setting up in a hobby Thrift store and uneasy with my s3tu. I really need reliable input.
Thank you

So cool I have everything you mentioned 😊 have a great day Steve hugs from Québec Canada 🇨🇦 🤗 🫂
I have also seen people put baby wipes in the dryer to dry them out so they can use them with acetone or alcohol to get paint off of things without the lint of a paper towel 🤯
I never thought of using WD40. I've always just poured a thin layer of resin over the back before doming the front
Thanks for these tips!! I’m just getting into resin and I’m glad not to have to spend a fortune on specialty tools.
If you have already, please point it out. If you haven't already done so, could you do a video on putting hard candy in resin?
WD40??"? wow thanks I hadn't heard this.
Micro brushes are used in dentistry a lot 😅
I get mine from Asda at £6 for a box of their own make, Little Angels.
We call micro brushes "squiggy wiggies" because of you
micro brushes are way cool
My cat who hates baby wipes: 😾😾😂
Microbrushes are for beauty treatments... Such as lash lifts 🙂
Thanks! I will get WD40 for sure.
