    Trenton is on to something. A rum blind would make a great follow up. I'd even do more specific and do 1 rum per area. Barbados vs. Jamaica vs. Martinique vs. Puerto Rico vs. Panama. Sounds like lots of fun

    Trenton, to answer your question about Tequila opening up, in my experience yes, that can be the case. I bought an Ocho Anejo aged in Widow Jane Bourbon Barrels. First pour of it was super hot and ethanol forward, with a ton of char on the palette. I didn’t crack into it again for about a year and when I did it had completely mellowed out. The bitter char notes were all but gone and a lot of the complexity of grassy, sweet, citrusy, black peppercorns came front and center. That’d be a great one to try for you if you can find it. Arte Nom, Mijenta, Siembra Valles are also awesome sippers if you’d really like to dive in.

    One of these days I want to try tequila (besides José Cuervo - the silver is tolerable but the gold is awful), and other things as well. But there's so much whisky and so little time...
    I do find it amusing that Anglo Americans get so interested in el Cinco de Mayo. It's a bigger deal in the United States than it is in Mexico. 😂
    Just for grins and giggles, here's what some tequila terms mean:
    plata=silver
    blanco=white
    reposado=rested
    añejo (ahn-YEH-ho)=aged
    extra añejo=extra aged
    Just what term of years each aging category encompasses I don't know.
    The top on the Fortaleza is, if I'm not mistaken, an agave plant with the leaves trimmed off. 🙂

    I'm in San Diego, teh Siete Leguas is fairly highly thought of around here. Siete Leguas started Patron in an attempt to sell luxury tequila in the USA. They had the same master distiller. When it became a hit, Patron branched off on their own and took the master distiller with them. For Blanco's, I don't think I have had one that I like better than the Fortaleza. FWIW, I have never bought a 100 dollar tequila. I like tequila and have 5 or 6 bottles around at any given time but FWIW don't think they come close to a good whiskey. And when I chose to spend that much money, it's always going to be some kind of whiskey. More bang for the buck.

    Would love to see rum blind but plantation overproof o.f.t.d. has to be part of it, I'm very interested to see your thoughts blind on that one!😅

    many have that briny green olive saltiness. I am not so fond of that particular flavor. For example, G4 blanco has that flavor....Mijenta blanco does not. I prefer the Mijenta. In a cocktail you won't notice it

    I do like a tequila once3 in a while, but definitely an anejo guy. Haven't had extra anejo due to price yet but hope to. Recently found Casamigos Anejo, and I am hooked on it. To me it's amazing. I did NOT know it was a celebrity bottle before I bought it, but Mr. Clooney did well in my book. A reasonable price, too! Happy Cinco de Mayo!!!! Clase Azul is really popular, but at that price it's hard to justify it on a flyer, not having experienced it yet. Too risky.

    Great to see non-bourbon content on the channel. I think all bourbon drinkers would do well to explore outside of corn whiskey.

      Tons of additives in that brand.

      @@claytonbeck3604it’s 100% pure agave with zero additives. 100% agaves are allowed 1% additives but this isn’t a brand that has any.

      Also, don't put too much grain into the the whole additive thing. Tequila Matchmaker started this thing. I have a lot of suppliers that explained a lot to me. Having additives is not a bad thing. It depends what those additives are. Adding a drop of caramel or Sea Salt to the batch of tequila is considered an additive. Not a bad thing.
