One of my favourite Carpenters songs ever! Love this song. This is the one I listen to when I'm down. I must add that I appreciate your refreshing Christian attitude so much. It's sad when so many so-called 'Christians' show disrespect and a lack of charity to anyone who they think doesn't live up to their concept of a Christian ideal. They seem to have forgotten that Jesus Christ never turned away anyone or denied anyone his teachings or his charity, even to people who weren't ready to listen to his message yet. Your kind of love for your fellow human beings is what will get people interested in Jesus's message, not an unforgiving creed that states God loves only the privileged few. 😇🙏
Your faith in the Lord is beautiful. I think one of the reasons I love the Capenters is because they sing of love with angelic melodies. Sure hope and pray she's still singing beautiful harmonies in Heaven.
Good reaction you're absolutely right you're always on point and of course the Carpenters are great I their music is sublime rest in peace Karen Carpenter
Love the Carpenters, Karen's voice is so amazing. Some of my favorites you should do reactions to: All of My Life, Can't Smile without You, For All We Know, and Now 😊
Man, her voice just has a such a beautiful depth and richness that is so unique in female vocalists. You always know when you’re listening to Karen Carpenter. She had a lower register that is so solid and supported…I can’t really think of many female singers that have that consistency and tone in that area of the voice; it still shocks me that she was a percussionist first. Please react to Yesterday Once More; I love her vocals on that.
One of their best, most encouraging songs, right? Reminds me how thankful I am that I grew up when these songs were constantly on the radio. (Oh, and I do believe it was Cherry Boone who shared Jesus with Karen before she passed away and I've always felt encouraged by that.) Thanks for sharing!
@@michaelasay8587 -- --she's Pat Boone's daughter and Debby Boone's sister. Pat Boone is a Christian actor and Debby Boone is best known for singing 'You Light Up My Life', the huge hit of 1977 and 1978.
Karen and Richard grew up in the church. Richard played piano for his home Methodist Church. Their grandparents (Harold’s side) were actually missionaries. Just interesting facts I’ve come across, for what it’s worth. I guess we never really know what happens in someone’s heart when it comes to their true and authentic relationship with God. But yes, teach those angels how it’s done, Karen!
Wow memories of the seventies! She was an amazing singer and her music still lives on in our hearts. So happy to see others appreciate how great the Carpenters were back then. Thank you Devin love your reactions!
Devin, I discovered you and your channel last week. I'm obsessed! You are so funny and entertaining. I especially loved your reaction to Toto's Hold The Line. You are such a naturally genuine person and very humorous in your reactions to music. Keep going with this, it's irresistable!!! Maureen
Any time I hear a Carpenters song, no matter how good, I get a brief feeling of sadness. She was so beautiful and talented, but apparently never knew it.
Hey Devin, great 👍reaction as always. Could you please review the Carpenters most beautiful song, " A Place to Hideaway". Select the video with thumbnail of Karen's face, not the album cover. This way we can watch her unforgettable performance!
Bizarre and you can believe me at the begenning of the tune, i tought if someone is friend with evil, he don't like this beautiful voice......then what, i saw that you are a good christian guy.........INCREDIBLE.
Doubtless, Karen Carpenter was the greatest, the finest, female vocalist that I ever had the privilege of hearing. And let's not forget Richard. He was a musical genius, and his arrangements perfectly accentuated Karen's voice! I grew up in the 70s, and listened to the Carpenters for hours on end, and never got tired of them.
The Gibbter!! 😂 LOL..I love the Carpenters, I really didn't appreciate their music heck I was only 14-15 yrs of age in 1974-75. Now in my 60's I really enjoy them. Thanks for the uplaods!! God bless my friend. 💛
Your 5th reaction dhould be “Goodbye to Love” also a Carpenter-Bettis composition. Karen hits her usual grand slam home run , the harmonies are magnificent, the band is tight, and right in the very middle and again at the end they added an awesome fuzz tone guitar solo by Tony Peluso that I dimply never want to end. This is the quintessential Carpenters song because it has everything. And that solo created the power ballad genre for the first time. That solo rocked the whole world in 1972!
I'm old and in my humble opinion Karen Carpenter had/has the best voice I've ever heard. She never fails to give me chills. The only singer that does that to me. Patsy cline, Linda ronstadt and kd Lang are among the best but Karen is number 1. Again in my humble opinion. I appreciate your sharing your views with us. I like how upbeat you are and how much you show your love for Jesus.
Let the record reflect that this is the first subscribe to channel I'm a 56-year-old white guy man I love you you're speaking my language I do not subscribe but I did this time 10-4
I like this song. I really like the opening verse and music. There are many parts in this that remind me of other songs. Wild World, Killing Me Softly, the theme’s from MASH and Laverne and Shirley. But I like it all the same. Great reaction! Keep going deep into this band. I’d suggest “Bless The Beasts and The Children”.
Hey Brotha, you've opened up a new 🐇rabbit hole with The Carpenters & Karen's God Given Mega Talent! Please react to: "Oliver - Jean [1969]" ..the most beautiful ballad of the 60's, sung by a young musical artist. Select the video with his picture performing the song on TV. The only guy who made me cry by the pure beauty of his voice.
Again, God bless you for your willingness to state God's Word. Im on my late 60s, so remember KC very well on the radio and TV specials. Amazing, but predictable how 99% of You Tube reactions are similar to yours. They were most successful in early/mid1970s when she received 4 grammys. She began, with her brother Richard, by playing drums. Recognized by 1975 Playboy poll as rock drummer of the year. KC's voice, especially contralto, was the best female voice ever. No auto-tune, gimmicks, or screaming. Her nickname was 'one take', since she always sang a song once in studio without a single re-take. She sang to you with mesmerizing emotion, perfect pitch and enunciation. Her voice made you listen to her. She had no professional voice training. John Lennon told her at an LA restaurant that she had a lovely voice. Every female harmony in all of her songs was hers as well, sang, then dubbed into the song by Richard. She never knew true love, nor how good she really was. KC was a one of a kind female vocalist with the voice of an angel. She was never happy with way she looked. She had a few friends, one was Dionne Warwick. She had serious onset of anorexia in 1975 that continued the rest of her life. She died Feb 1983 at 32yo due to complications from anorexia.
Excellent job on your reactions, my friend. I would love to see your reaction to the Father of soul. Sam Cooke - (Somebody) Ease My Troublin' Mind th-cam.com/video/CCE7UNm0aDs/w-d-xo.html
I remember reading that Richard was really angry with Karen for several years as he watched her decline. He said why doesn't she just eat... she chooses not too. She is ruining our careers. I wonder if/when he came into the knowledge of anorexia did somewhat understand what she went through. I hope he forgave her. They were one of a kind and among the elite in the music industry.
Tina....well then he didn't know how to support her and her mother was horrible...telling her not to eat cookies...she was only a lil chubby for a brief period.
He wasn't helping their career too much when he was addicted to Qualudes did he? I hope he came to understand. Their mother was a piece of work that caused them emotional issues.
Perfect harmony
Yes Devin we feel the same way as you do.
Chills right away!! What a voice!!
Her voice was spectacular. The drums on this track are just astounding. Best drum track that I’ve ever heard in pop music.
joyful reaction !

Hi! I’ve just read your comment and I TOTALLY agree! That was an AMAZING comment! Blessings to you and your family from Australia.
Karen we miss you !!!! RI[P my dear sweet angel
Your faith in the Lord is beautiful. I think one of the reasons I love the Capenters is because they sing of love with angelic melodies. Sure hope and pray she's still singing beautiful harmonies in Heaven.
the opening lines and those harmonies.. .enough said...
My sister was a singer back in this time frame and did almost all of the carpenters repertoire. This song got the most requests when she performed it.

I still get goose bumps every time I hear her sing. Nobody like her.

I hope she was saved. She should be in heaven teaching the angels how to sing
Who is Cherry Boone?

Thanks for your reaction , she had a voice of an Angel. Silky and smooth, rest in peace Karen
Devin, your best video yet.
Loved the ´The fron t windshirld is a lot larger than the rearview mirrir".
Thanks for quoting Matthew.
One of my favs!!! ❤
Wow memories of the seventies! She was an amazing singer and her music still lives on in our hearts. So happy to see others appreciate how great the Carpenters were back then. Thank you Devin love your reactions!
No wonder her voice was dubbed as "like an angel rising in the morning." Very soothing filled with genuine clarity and robustness.
warmth, beauty, loving, clear, heartfelt, a experience...
Even ahead with music videos. MTV came later in 1981.
At the time I don't think everyone realised just how good she was. What a superb voice !
Glórias à Deus!
INCOMPARÁVEL....à melhor Cantora que já pisou aqui no planeta Terra....Bahia-Brazil
She still brings chills just like when I first heard this song some fifty years ago. Glad to see you enjoying “my” music.
Bless the beasts and the children! Omg amigo there's so many. Don't cry for me Argentina.
That lyric: "In my own time, nobody knew...the pain I was goin thru..." gets to me every time!!
me too and the way she sings the word "pain"...
Oh you should definitely listen to *The Carpenters* track _'Calling Occupants (Of Interplanetary Craft)'._ 🥰❤️
Arguably the best Carpenters song, with Rainy Days and Mondays a close second
Amen brother .Thy kingdom come.

The way you react at the beginning of the song when Karen is singing in that "low basement" voice.. Its like she sent chills down your spine...
Any time I hear a Carpenters song, no matter how good, I get a brief feeling of sadness. She was so beautiful and talented, but apparently never knew it.
Awh...yr doing more of them...keep going!

Solitaire should be the fifth. It is her best vocal performance in my opinion.
PLEASE react to "Top of the World". It is upbeat and amazing.

They have sooo many songs for you to choose from. I’d like to suggest “Close to You” and “Rainy Days and Mondays.”
So good!

At 66yrs and still the best from the sixties and seventies --todays music is unlistenable
