Molly literally said that and won't apologize. Now, she is twisting it and saying we cannot use CC's end of season stats and say she was that good at the Olympic break. The fact is that her stats were better than most of the guards that made the team - except Ionescu, and in the Olympics our disappointment with the team became evident. Chelsea was benched and Diana averaged one pt for the whole tournament. But, Molly and Andraya will not admit that they were wrong to say CC did not deserve an Olympic spot.
Shannon is fearless on his views and the truth and is not afraid to talk about it like SAS or the female analysts.

It is really a hater conversation with Clark as a pawn in the middle. The 3 year old video "How Lisa Leslie Changed The Game For The Next Generation | RESPECT YOUR OGs with Candace Parker" about 90 seconds in. They discuss how the WNBA as a torch/niche black women can dominate. That is fueling a lot of hate toward clark, simply because if clark is the best, they can't say black women dominate. Thus the comment at the end about Wilson being the best there ever, is simply pushing that narrative. If you look at all the press, and all the comments the entire season from that perspective, it is clear as day what is going on.

Caitlin Clark is carrying the weight of the world on her shoulders. She just took a team that was in the WNBA cellar into the postseason as a 22 year old rookie on the heels of taking the Iowa Lady Hawkeyes to back to back national championships and being snubbed from the Olympic roster and a gold medal despite being a top 5 player in the world... as a rookie. She can only do so much. At some point, she needs her teammates to move around and set screens. How can you expect her to do anything with multiple defenders draped all over her. Her teammates need to come prepared in Game 2 or else the Sun are going to win the series.

The Sun's apparent game plan yesterday was to have Carrington assault Clark with a cobra chop to her right eye, with apparent intention to injure her or knock her off her game. Aside from that, I don't know how anyone can watch this panel arguing and not wonder what's so important to get so riled up about. Focus on the image of the league and how it appears to your new-found audience members! Most of us are getting sick and tired of watching criminal assault-level violence on the court. Why I would spend good money to take my young nieces and nephews to WNBA games where a fight is likely to break out, or there will be violence against a player, I don't know. Basketball is not supposed to be a contact sport!

I don't think it's much of a concern this year because a lot of the turnovers in the first half was her teammates dropping passes or not catching the open outlet pass...if the turnovers continue into next season then I'll be concerned
Half the turn overs aren't her fault. Teammates gotta catch the ball. Just like she'd have shattered the assists record margin if so many LAYUPS didn't get smoked in transition.
So many ifs. Caitlin will trim down on the turn overs over time.
Uhh they literally have increased the amount of games played from 24 in 2019 and before, to 37 in the Covid season (only played 32), and now they're in the 2nd year of the 40 game schedule with up to 52 possible when including the WNBA cup. That's why all the records are going down these last couple of years. Context is important.

Where I think most of these ladies have missed the mark is by failing to fuel the hype around a player drawing massive attention like CC earlier instead of the "tempering expectations" train. In the NBA, Wembanyama had two years of hype before even stepping on the court, and the coverage kept that momentum going. That’s what they should’ve done with Caitlin Clark, but instead, commentators like these ladies - Swoops and others immediately shifted focus to "let’s not forget the women of the past" as soon as the spotlight hit Clark and the WNBA started getting put in the spotlight for once in sports media. When male players - for example Steph Curry - entered the league, he didn’t need to make a speech about the men who came before him for an entire rookie year playing ball cuz no one cares about that. You need to save that for special events. Don’t overload new viewers with some history that most new fans weren’t interested in before Caitlin Clark. Don't spoil the hype. Build the hype, and during broadcasts, and key historical moments you sprinkle in that historical context about the ladies before her-and give those legends their recognition as these new stars break their records. That’s how they do it most other leagues. That's how they handled it when LeBron passed Kareem in all-time reocrds or when Curry surpassed Reggie Miller and Ray Allen for 3 point shots.

At the time they picked the roster, CC was ALREADY a better guard than most of the guards on that OLYMPIC ROSTER. She deserved a spot just for her bb play, not even taking into consideration her incredible marketability . It was a huge loss for women's BB and women's sports in general for her not to be in the Olympics bc her success uplifts all women's sports. She is box office and thats good for all the girls.
