      Just as well she is not a food vlogger. If my memory served me right the last time she recommended an eatery, rumours had it that the Emergency Department was inundated with hundreds of patients suffering from botulism and salmonella poisoning. It put paid to her budding career as a food and restaurant reviewer. Just as well, as I do not wish the fate of those who might follow her advice seriously on anything to do with food. 😜😜😜

    It's a real treat to listen to you speak Chinese (Mandarin?) with such fluency. When you do, it elicits such unguarded conversations with the locals. I love how you find local people to tour you around the village!! Great content!
    I was born in Taizhou and this looks kinda similar to my grandma's village that I spent a year living when I was 3 years old. After spending 10 years living in the US, it feels so crazy to rediscover my hometown area through someone else's lens, especially knowing you're from the States. I can still understand the local dialect so listening to those people definitely makes me a bit emotional. There're so many villages like this in Zhejiang eventually got half abandoned, that only old people still lives there due to the rapid urbanization process in China for the past a few decades. In my opinion, those villages are the textbook definition of 江南, that they are often built by the hills, with creeks running through them, and has their houses built with stones and tiles. During the time of 清明节, the mountains and the villages will show people their best look, also with many people coming back to the village to do their traditional ritual for the ancestral worshiping. It's one of the most hauntingly beautiful memories from my childhood.
    Looking forward for your next video!!

      How is the RACISM of Trump's Legacy affecting your emotions in the USA ? All the very best !

    • @chesternstella
      @chesternstella 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@andrewmah5605 Thx!! It definitely sucks. Also in general US's safety issue is becoming non negligible for everyone here, and of course being an Asian in this situation is worse. However since digitally I'm like half living in China as well, I can tell that polarizing is not just a US problem, it's very prominent in China too. Nationalism becomes more prevailing among people and racism as a biproduct also got surfaced. The difference to me is that I'm a minority here and a majority back in China. As a globalist I hope the world gets through this phase faster and I'm doing stuff that I can to help influence people around me, even though my power is little. But when it gets to the safety of me and my family, I'm afraid that if it drops below certain threshold, I will probably leave, despite I do call it home here in the States now.

    (5:40): China produces wonderful teas, especially Oolong, but even green teas. The secret to enjoying these teas and getting a slightly sweet, floral taste is to not steep them in water that is too hot and to judiciously control the steep time. You need two pots, one to infuse and a second to hold the tea and pour into cups. For many Chinese green teas, the ideal temperature will be close to 70C and the steep time from 70 seconds (first infusion) to 25 seconds (subsequent infusions). In America, the tea in bags is mostly just the stems and of rather low quality, "brewed" with boiling water. Good quality teas from Asia here will expand to full leaves, as if they have been picked from the plant. I hope you'll give them a second chance! One of my favorite Oolong cultivars is Baihao Quinshin, the mountains of Jingmai, in Yunnan.

    • @kats_journey_east
      @kats_journey_east  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I’ve given green tea a hundred chances but I just can’t get past the bitter taste🤣🤣I do love matcha though if that counts LOL

    • @bengt_axle
      @bengt_axle 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@kats_journey_east Hmm. Could be a genetic predisposition. You know, the Viking. But in general, bitter taste means water is too hot or steep time is too long. So confirm with your Wei#1. Many Chinese teas are intentionally fermented and processed to produce a slightly bitter taste. A white tea might be your thing.

      @@kats_journey_east 阳离子,中国人喝茶是讲究“苦尽甘来”,很多人也不喜欢苦的茶,而是喜欢它的甘和香气。没必要喝浓度很高的茶,我们家就喜欢把泡好的茶和白开水兑着喝(当然这决定于哪种茶,白茶苦味比较淡,就没必要这样做),这样既保留了一些茶的香气和味道,又不会太苦。如果再加入一些牛奶,其实就类似于奶茶了。所以不必强迫接受别人的标准,找适合自己的就行~

    I always liked to hear stories of old in different places.
    You learn a lot from knowing many things of the past.
    It is way more interesting if you could understand the way of life and cultures in different places because then you would understand life better.
    Note: No more puns today.

    man, i can understand (but can't speak) somewhat well some of the Wu dialects, but when it comes to Wenzhou and Taizhou dialect it's like a completely alien language to me, like Minbei language is completely unintelligible for me while i can pick up some Minnan words from watching years of Taiwanese variety shows. i wish i'm young again and be able to absorb more different languages faster.

    ❤️❤️❤️Wow what a beautiful village 😍 it’s a charming place . Maple leaves 🍁 just the one in front my yard which is my favorite trees . The stage for Chinese old opera uses to be one of my father’s favorite. My mom told me she doesn’t understand but used to sit next to my father watch on TV to listen to Chinese opera and she would prepare with snacks for my father . The old house has so many memories and history behind . This guy was telling us the concept of Chinese people that we purposely keep some money not too much just little more enough for rubbery to rub us so they don’t get mad to come to rub us without getting anything could end up kill us , n This is my father who used to tell us a way to protect our life from harassment by robbery. . There are so many nice people in this village, I saw elderly looked so healthy still able to make food to talk to you to make sell . This is uneasy , thru have good health and perfect memory , amazing ! I hope people get to travel this place and stay a few days to enjoy the beautiful village and beautiful people who who chose to come back to his small village to learn so much interesting history and able to meet many nice people for us to learn from each other , This is defiantly a beautiful place for visitors to visit and stay . Thank so much again for showing us the beautiful villages , 🥰🥰We can’t wait to watch your next vide. . Take care .💕💕💕

    As a Chinese living in the States, I thank you for your effort to build the understanding bridge that a job by the vast amount of paid "professional" journalists, academies, diplomates of both sides fail to do.

      @@iamnotfooled Yanbian (simplified Chinese: 延边; traditional Chinese: 延邊; pinyin: Yánbiān; Chosŏn'gŭl: 연변, Yeonbyeon; Hangul: 옌볜, Yenbyen), officially known as the Yanbian Korean Autonomous Prefecture, is an autonomous prefecture in the east of Jilin Province, China. Yanbian is bordered to the north by Heilongjiang, on the west by Baishan and Jilin City, on the south by North Korea's North Hamgyong Province and on the east by Primorsky Krai in Russia. Yanbian is designated as a Korean autonomous prefecture due to the large number of ethnic Koreans living in the region. The prefectural capital is Yanji and the total area is 42,700 square kilometres (16,500 sq mi).
      The prefecture has an important Balhae archaeological site: the Ancient Tombs at Longtou Mountain, which includes the Mausoleum of Princess Jeonghyo.
