Honestly the best part of that was the sad realization that I'll never know what dinosaurs interacting with each other was like, but the prehistoric looks of guineas is probably a fair shake. I wish I could imagine what these daily interactions with like Synapsids and other kinds of multi-tens or hundreds of millions of years ago life was like, just in-the-day-of type moments like this, or where capybaras are sitting around chilling with monkeys and birds riding on them. It wasn't just flesh eating and tree munching so those interspecies interactions being completely unknown and lost to time is saddening.

Yeah but really it's only the roosters that'll spur ya. Goose? Also plenty fine. Just don't get kicked in the back of the head by a mule, that actually is dangerous. They also eat plenty of ticks, which are likewise dangerous depending where you live because they carry disease.

The ones going "buck-wheat" are the females, and the ones that do a raspy AHH AHHH AHH AHH are males, though females can do that too, the males don't buckwheat. They're feisty and strong, both physically and mentally, hardy to disease and injury. *If you don't like story time, no need to continue reading.* Had our only female lavender trampled into the mud by the geese after getting into a fight with one or more of the male guineas, on a cold day and found her at night in the dark barely hanging on by a thread, she looked dead to be honest. We were sure she would be dead the next morning but we gave her a gentle warm bath indoors and set her in a box with some comfy soft small wood shavings with a small bowl of food and water under a heat light. She couldn't even stand up for two whole weeks, but that girl was strong and determined and she got through it all the way to being back to normal after about 4 weeks, all aside from having part of one of her waddles and the top of her head horn partially removed from her fight, she's never fought with them since and is now partnered with one of them who follows her around like a loyal puppy dog. *Here is the part when I just start rambling, so you don't need to continue reading if you're bored of me. :P* They also have children currently growing through their baby stage currently about 4 to 5 inches tall, human raised of course because guineas make terrible mothers. Even our turkeys who are normally good mothers didn't do very well with the hardy Guinea babies. 3 out of 4 died, one squished accidentally, one attacked by another bird, one mysteriously perhaps illness or didn't learn to eat or drink. The fourth is happy and healthy and follows mama Turkey around all over, when she flies, it flies with her, it even sits on her back for a ride, its favorite spot. The human raised, if they last at least 2 days after hatching, have all survived. Sometimes they get too weakened from hatching or dont hatch at all because our new incubator is trash and the fan that is meant to circulate the heat actually dries the membranes inside the egg, making it impossible to break, especially for a baby. Yes, you're supposed to put water in so it stays humid but it doesn't work even at full humidity.. would not recommend.
So with all this said, are guineas a good first poultry or hard to handle and if you insist of this birds being cheap to raise or able to be kept in small habitats?
My incubator works pretty good for the most part. It's just it doesn't get the eggs soft enough for them to hatch for some reason the humidity stays in the 70s... Which is enough for them to grow but when they come ready to hatch it's not enough to get their eggs soft enough..I had to kinda "help" my ducks hatch. And now just hatched out seven guinea keets. And 6 more hatching in five days.
Terribly annoying birds. Mine could somehow get on 5-6m roof and sit there, while at the same time, 1m tall fence was impossible to get by. Ofcourse it worked one way, they could get out, but never get in.
My friends farm has a little gang of 5 guineas. I adore them! They make me laugh so much. They know when there's a new face around and investigate and interrogate every single time 😂 not to mention, they keep the foxes at bay. the farm would not be the same without them, true characters.
Thanks for sharing this video. My hubby just bought two 4 week old guineas and a turkey. We’ve never raised turkeys or guineas before so didn’t know what to expect. We already have 6 chicken hens and rooster.
I remember visiting my mum's parent's when they came up from surrey. the farmer had these in the same field as them. that was more than five years ago. I still hate those malfunctioning feathered foghorns with a vengeance.
Anyone thinking about getting guineas, needs to think about their neighbors. I lived peacefully for 17 years in my house, before my ignorant neighbor decided he wanted a flock of guineas. Now, every day at 2:30 or 3:00, the screaming starts. Nobody within 1/2 mile can sleep when these nuisance birds start calling. You may be cool with the noise, but your neighbors will likely not see it that way. These birds need to be eradicated, they are a scourge to urban living, and should only be raised if you can ensure they will not destroy your neighbors quality of living. Be considerate!!!
I totally agree! I'm dealing with my new neighbors ( wanna be homesteaders) owning 6 of these garbage birds. They spend more time around my house than my neighbors.
I like them thay will let you know when something is up on your farm yard you won't have ticks ,grasshoppers, roches,or other bugs and thay are good to eat.
I’ve been debating getting a guinea but i live in the middle of a city. I have a lot of garden and landscape so he seems perfect for pest problems. I wonder if a guinea would be less loud and annoying if they were the only one Has anyone had experience with having a single guinea?. Seems to me the only ruckus is them yelling at each other.
I don’t suggest keeping flock animals by themselves. If you were to get a bird, two minimum should be required since they like having company. Without companions, they feel lonely.
I have 11 guineas and I will tell you if they are killed off by predators I will not be replacing them 😂 I like that they are watch dogs and warn me when the cows walk up to the fence or that the wind is blowing or when a friend comes over to talk to me... it’s almost impossible to have a conversation when someone new comes around. They are also very stinky... their poop smells different from other poultry. And I don’t like that they don’t go to sleep like chickens... if it is a blustery evening they will start squawking at midnight and wake my whole house up. I bought them for pest control but here in Washington we don’t have that bad of a tick problem....
I know I hated guiniess growing up.the only thing worse is a goddam peacock.they sneak up on you.and scream all the time.and you cant never hit one with a rock.
A stray one managed to enter my farm and basically hung around the chickens.. felt really sorry for the chickens because I could hear her noise from my room till I went to sleep.. chickens usually sleep early.
I love the sound of guineas and miss mine very much. They are the farm yard guardians. But whatever you do don't shoo them away, they NEVER forget. Lol
There’s one someone let loose in the park and it gets along fine with the peacocks 🦚. When I’d bring my turkey down there sometimes, the guin would tease my turkey and run behind the peacocks and the peacocks would go after my turkey.
We used to have guineas. They made so much noise we had to get rid of them. There was one outside my window one night. It squawked and launched me upright in the bed and I banged my head on the roof beam. Fowls from hell.
Wade Rivers My friends have them and I woke up at 3:00 am and heard outside the window: BUCK WHEAT, BUCK WHEAT, BUCK WHEAT!! I find it more hilarious than annoying though. LOL!
I have twelve white guineas.I love the sound they make.I live in the country and they free range.I also have Emden geese,Black Spanish Turkeys,White Layer Ducks and White leghorn chickens. All get along fairly well though there can be confrontations sometimes.Nothing dramactic.
We just got 9 that are about to be turned out to the coop. I can't wait to see what we end up with...... This is a trial run to see if we want to continue having them. We mostly wanted them as watchdogs for the snakes and small nuisance control
Isabella Heintz We bought them because of ticks and snakes. They have just all found their choices and are driving my wife crazy. And we have 34 eggs in the incubator. I Loire their personalities
Vance Hamilton mine just decides to set off an alarm when I walk in the coop. And since she only has chicken friends it tells them I have food even if I dont
Thank you!! This is perfect! I actually just searched for guinea sounds to show my husband because he waned some to eat bugs. We are in the country but no barns anymore just a few acres. Its like you made this for me to show him. 🤣😂🤣😂💖 The last part I was saying to him as you put it on the screen. Lol Theyre great for a lot of things but not where we are just to run free.
Lol . Great vid. Im sure they are all in bird heaven now but that guinea fighting that turkey was so entertaining. He was a pro... would of never guessed that outcome.

I don’t suggest keeping flock animals by themselves. If you were to get a bird, two minimum should be required since they like having company. Without companions, they feel lonely.
That's awesome. I have 4 babies just about 6 weeks old. The little buggers are escape artists.
PLEASE TELL ME HOW TO GET RID OF THEM
we had Guineas on our farm when I was growing up and we never any problems we loved them.
I bought them for pest control but here in Washington we don’t have that bad of a tick problem....
yeah, still love guineas
Am I the only one who actually likes the sounds they make
i love the sound they make... 🤷🏼♀️🤷🏼♀️
My neighbor has some of these. Which means I have to listen to them all day.
I know I hated guiniess growing up.the only thing worse is a goddam peacock.they sneak up on you.and scream all the time.and you cant never hit one with a rock.
I could totally handle the noise in exchange for snake & tick killers.
You do not know how much I laugh With this 3 minute video 🤣
🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂you really have to love the little monsters 🤣😂🤣😂🤣
its an adorable bird
Cooked, maybe.
they look cool in my opinion
@@TheApocalypticKnight LMAOO
@@TheApocalypticKnight im vegan but in this case I agree
The other inhabitants of the farm disagree. Even the other birds hate them😡
A stray one managed to enter my farm and basically hung around the chickens.. felt really sorry for the chickens because I could hear her noise from my room till I went to sleep.. chickens usually sleep early.
Like a coo coo clock that won't stop! But I hear the are great at keeping the ticks down.
I like these Birds, lots of them in Puerto Rico,
Lel, guinea versus turkey was epic. Thanks for filming!
I love the sound of guineas and miss mine very much. They are the farm yard guardians. But whatever you do don't shoo them away, they NEVER forget. Lol
No change my mind
I had 17 guineas when I was in high school. They chased cars. I loved them!
I just want them to keep my chickens safe from the abundance of rattlesnakes that we have around us.
i want a guinea !
I love guineas.
We have caught so many predators due to them.
Yeah they are noisy but they let you know when something is not right
Thank you for this video and I decided against getting a few guineas
wise choice
I have 2 guineas and they are amazing. We hand raised them and they are nothing like you see in this video.
Thank you. Have been debating with myself about getting Guineas....you have settled the issue for me....OH HELL NO!
Eat the most annoying ones first. Let the less annoying ones multiply.
LOL!
I just laughed SO hard at that Turkey-Guinae fight. oh man!!!
I have twelve white guineas.I love the sound they make.I live in the country and they free range.I also have Emden geese,Black Spanish Turkeys,White Layer Ducks and White leghorn chickens. All get along fairly well though there can be confrontations sometimes.Nothing dramactic.
your confrontation is between what & what?mine is between cock & male turkey, they fight a lot
I was thinking of getting one or two to keep ticks off our country property, but this video convinced me otherwise.
Best watchdogs you'll ever see. Day or night nothing moves that they don't announce.
This is what watching "The View" sounds like.
We just got 9 that are about to be turned out to the coop. I can't wait to see what we end up with...... This is a trial run to see if we want to continue having them. We mostly wanted them as watchdogs for the snakes and small nuisance control
Vance Hamilton they eat ticks too
Isabella Heintz We bought them because of ticks and snakes. They have just all found their choices and are driving my wife crazy. And we have 34 eggs in the incubator. I Loire their personalities
Vance Hamilton mine just decides to set off an alarm when I walk in the coop. And since she only has chicken friends it tells them I have food even if I dont
LMAO that guinea fowl was trolling that turkey so hard
I'm around a bunch of them right now. I couldn't eat one if I had to. They're so sweet!!!
Cool! I like it playing with the turkey.
Thank you!! This is perfect! I actually just searched for guinea sounds to show my husband because he waned some to eat bugs. We are in the country but no barns anymore just a few acres.
Its like you made this for me to show him. 🤣😂🤣😂💖
The last part I was saying to him as you put it on the screen. Lol
Theyre great for a lot of things but not where we are just to run free.
For me, there’s more pros than cons with guineas. They can be little instigators. I’ve seen them chase turkeys before.
My beautiful child brought a feather to me, we found this, lost it at the turkey beatdown. Thx.
Lol . Great vid. Im sure they are all in bird heaven now but that guinea fighting that turkey was so entertaining. He was a pro... would of never guessed that outcome.
