    As a senior leader who "skipped" plenty in the first dozen years of my career, I find this summary very true and very useful. Thanks!

    This is the best video out there on Career Advancement…. steak and potatoes presentation with no gravy. A lot of the other people that talk about this have a lot of fluff.

    Super helpful tips!
    Always make sure to read everything they give you for interviews! My current job required you to answer with a specific method during the interview that was brought up in the information packets.

    I'm 40. I'm hoping there's time. I'm a leader but I don't know what a sideways step looks like. I'm looking for an increased salary. I jumped and skipped 2 years ago. What now? There's a managerial job elsewhere but there will be no jump available after that so I would need to move on to yet another company.

      Thanks for the message Butterfly Moon, todays job market is very transient especially in Europe, and North America as well as many other economic hubs, like Dubai and Singapore. So you shouldn't feel that moving to another company as necessarily a negative thing. The key, is that you make sure that the companies and roles you're going to target, align with your career goals and ambitions i.e. of salary, growth opportunities, stepping stone to pivot career etc.
      Also change and getting out of your comfort zone when done right is a good thing and helps in both career and personal growth, here is a video we did on the subject, that you might enjoy!

    I think this video outpaces tons of others in TH-cam... Congrats! I think there is one move that could be here stated: moving sideways to a different position, what do you think about that?

    • @jobinterviewology
      @jobinterviewology  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Joao, that's an excellent observation. Yes, a sideways move can beneficial depending on the job role. The key is to be honest with yourself, are you making the sideways move because it's easier and you're staying in your comfort zone, or is it strategic and will give you the relevant experience to make that jump for a role in 12 months time? If the answer it latter then it' can definitely be worth it!

    Most people don't have a career. Most have a job they probably don't love but merely need for money. The career is a myth. Only a few have it.

    As a senior HR executive...you're foolish to think anyone has a 7 year plan. If you think you can plan anything more than 3 years out, you're kidding yourself.

    • @michaelwenzl8219

      You can plan and move towards a goal, but you have to be able to adapt to changing circumstances. If you don't look beyond the next three years it would be quite hard to achieve anything great or above average. For example as a software developer you have to be aware of the fact that the industry is not really friendly against old developers so it is advisable to move towards a management position in the 40ties. These are things that every 25 year old can plan and begin to learn the necessary skills as soon as possible.

    • @butterflymoon6368
      @butterflymoon6368 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think this is why I hadn't planned properly - because so many job types change or become obsolete.
