Matched with the greatest television theme music ever, the editing in the opening credits is truly breath-taking. It still looks incredible. Most people don't realise how ground-breaking this was for 1968. Thank God this series was shot on film.
This Hass to be the greatest intro in television history of any TV show past present or future nothing will ever come as close to this amazing introduction to a fantastic show
The new version was one of the rare cases where it was just as good as the original and even better in some parts. I liked it up until Daniel Dae Kim and Grace Park were fired and replaced with a bunch of no talent actors only because both Kim and Park wanted to be paid better than they were.
0:00, officer: intelligence. Steve: bookem. Guy: wait a minute, you can't do that. Steve: BOOKEM. officer: mister, right now I'd hate to be your boss. Securtary: and you can't go in there. Steve: don't you ever put a tail on me again. Brent: what are you talking about. Steve: look brent, get this and get it streight. Other guy: now just a minute. Steve: DON'T YOU EVER PUT A TAIL ON ME AGAIn, you here? Don't you ever do that again.
This high-octane music not only made a mediocre and low-energy TV series, Hawaii Five-O, a big hit but also introduced to the world that if there is a civilized paradise on Earth, it is Hawaii where: 1) The weather is comfortable 24/7/365, 2) The air is clean purified by the gentle trade wind and light shower, and 3) The mountains are covered with green forests, exotic plants, and flowers.
I see Jack Lord at least four times a week I used to walk home from kaimuki intermediate School up towards diamond Head to the left to kahala avenue and I live right down on the avenue there I see them to come home and I walk by their parking lot where they they go to work and they have all the cars parked there. Standing in line at longs drugs he was in front of me andtold him eh! You tall ah! turned around and looked at me yup that's what they say👒 r.i.p. Jack L.
Hawaii Cinco Zero… empezando con Jack Lord… Hawaii 5 0 made a huge success in the Spanish/castellano language speaking back on those days. In other words it was so popular and we loved that tv show.
Hands down the BEST TV theme music and opening credits ever, period. Nothing better than Jack Lord turning around to the camera, what a f*cking stud, love McGarrett. Hawaii was a better place then it is now. Love the show and watch reruns weekly. The so called remake is a joke, typical crap of today's tv. Quit trying to remake an original.

Agreed. The fact that Ed Asner guest starred as the character he played on the original series, yet the new series isn't a continuation of the original, made no damn sense.
What you just said! I'm surprised they didn't get Gavin Macleod to Guest Star as his old Drug Dealing Bad Guy character, "Chicken," from the original Hawaii 5-O@@jediknightjairinaiki560
I used to tune in just to watch the opening theme, then change the channel or go find something else to do. 😆 The show itself was too boring for a kid, although I did want to be Steve McGarrett when I grew up and drive that sweet black Mercury coupe shown in the opening credits. McGarrett was just too cool.
The difference between hawaii five o and miami vice was miami vice glamorized law enforcement of the 80s hawaii five o was 60s old school law enforcement rough tough
Me, I'd die to be near the ocean, and dolphines, they live there , you know, way far out , no waves that day, sea flat as Mary Niessa ( I am mean, I know that allready, you don;t have to tell me)

I never get tired of this theme.
Lol
McGarrett was hell on the rear tires of that black Mercury he drove. He could even make them squeal when he floored it on a muddy road. LOL
In 70's Britain this show made Hawaii the most exotic place on earth.
I love this song, it's probably the most recognisable theme to an old show!

Despite the numerous variations.
Which variant of the theme is your favorite?
When We did this for UIL Marching Band Competition.. WE WON!!!.. Closer to the Arrangement done by Norte Dame... Bad assss!!!... yaaay!!
✌️❤️😎🥁🥁📯🎷📯🎺👍👍
Tell me an intro that made a TV cop look cooler than McGarrett. That turn was everything.
This Hass to be the greatest intro in television history of any TV show past present or future nothing will ever come as close to this amazing introduction to a fantastic show
Not even miami vice or crime story could compare and great intros they were
Agree, a lot of beautiful memories.
Cole, Mission Impossible is first, Hawaii 5-0 is second
Agree it’s one of the best!
@@garypender9459, it IS the best!
Great piece of music by The Ventures, all time favorite for over 50 years
I did watch the new series, but Jack Lord will always be Steve McGarrett!
The new version was one of the rare cases where it was just as good as the original and even better in some parts. I liked it up until Daniel Dae Kim and Grace Park were fired and replaced with a bunch of no talent actors only because both Kim and Park wanted to be paid better than they were.
Agreed...the best episodes were the ones with Dano, Chin & Kono...😊
Love this . I lived there
Was it as expensive as they say it is?
Gnarley, I SURFED there.
Love the song, and such a good show.
Jack Lord loved this show and Hawaii so much he continued to live there and passed away In Honolulu
What a hell of a tune in 2024 ❤❤❤❤❤love it
A wonderful nostalgic journey. . Thank you for sharing 👏 👏👏
One of the shows of the 70's.
The drummer is fantastic!
In season 4, John Guerin, their drummer, employed a few cymbal fill-ins during the theme music.
Hawaii 5-0 was one of those shows that when it came on I would watch and listen to the opening credit in marvel and then turn the channel
Sin duda de las mejores intros de la historia de la televisión, de hecho la secuela del siglo XXI no hizo mas actualizarla
Imagine being any of the extras in this opening sequence like the young boy or the pretty girl and being immortalized forever!
Could be the GOAT for TV themes! 🌺
It is the GOAT for TV themes.
I loved the original series I went to Hawaii in 1976 because ofit I would love to go back but it is expensive now
Such a sense if rhythm
that was a good Zoom in for the day tbf? Love this !

Jack Lord's hair never moves.
It moved a little
La bonne vieille musique 🎶 hawaïenne😁🤞😊
TV at it's best
I choose this one over the reboot
Same here, but I kinda like the new Higgins.

Always wondered who the girl was that threw back her hair.
Sharon was the first full time H5O femme before Ms Park.
The scene with the airplane flying overhead used to freak me out as a kid(I have no idea why).
It's the way it was shot. The perspective. It was pretty low too.
Im kind of with you, but freaked me out in a good way I think.
A Mort Stevens classic.
Where's the CD box set?
Classic
The second was season 5-6

The reboot series was okay, but vastly inferior to the original.
Agreed.

@@jediknightjairinaiki560And we all know, Gavin Macleod and Ed Asner co-starred on "The Mary Tyler Moore Show" in the Newsroom.

Obviously Miami Vice before there was Miami Vice.
The new Hawaii Five-0 theme song is same this 80’s version
Not quite
you could have had it all. Huh
Jack Lord ...wonderful actor ...Elvis 2 😅

Miami vice pales to this!
Book him Dano.
Am from Mauritius Hawii Five O my best film.
Zulu as Kono? Kam Fong as Chin Ho? Are you serious? Why didn't they just use their real names? Six of one, half dozen of the other...
It's an Elvis world 🌎 kiddos 😅
industry 🦺🌋🏭🏭🏭🏭🏭
Fucking bad the one now isn't a straight continuation of the Lord one. With just a few tweaks it could have been,
The show sure got whiter as it went along.
So, what's wrong with that?
🤍🤍🤍🤍🤍🤍🤍🤍🤍
💁♀️ this film 🤍 loved it
