*Great lightweight shelter. **enjoyable.fishing** recommend it’s love how it blocks the light from outside. It was a pain to open the first time but now that it is broke in goes up easy..*
Thanks for the great tips. The idea of a soldering iron to trim the fabric is smart. From the comments I've read, everyone likes the content, but loves Willow more. You 2 Have a new fan in Ontario.
Most people don't put anything bcak there, but I had a buddy give it to me and I figured it was the perfect use for an added bit of protection. Thanks Douglas
I just switched from the Eskimo 949 to the Eskimo Outbreak 450 for the same reasons you moved up from the 6x6 tent... plus one big game changer. A door that opens all the way to the ground. Much easier to get in and out of with your arms full and big boots on. A little more money, today, than the 949 because it is a new model but well worth it if you make a lot of trips in and out and can't afford to be falling and tweeking an ankle or knee. Loved the ease of your conversion of the roof vent to a stove jack. Great video!
Enjoyed the entire setup. From vehicle and accessories to ice hut and your beautiful dog. Winter snow with trees and mountains are my favorite. I look forward to seeing your next adventure +a couple more days. Thank for taking me along.
Loved the Longer video. I thought the Eskimo Fishing Tent was a very nice , cozy shelter for you and Willow. Willow needs her own set of Doggie snowshows. Your breakfast sandwiches looked delicious. Willow is lucky to have a great Human like you to care for her. As someone else commented , you have a calm manner about you that I wish I had. Best wishes, Brian
Thanks Brian! I'm maybe much more calm when I'm on these trips haha! It certainly is a great experinece. As for Willow's boots....I've tried set after set after set with no luck! They all fall off in no time. I even had a set custom fit by an expert....and Willow literally lost three of them within just a few minutes!!! I think it must be the shape of her paws/lower legs. In the meantime she doesn't seem to mind whatsoever. Maybe her excitement just to be outside tenting supersedes all lol. Again, thanks for the nice comment 👍
As a hot tent owner, if I were to do it again I'd definitely go with ice fishing tent with modified stove jack. Next winter I'm going with ice fishing tent.
Thanks Leslie. Have used the tent a few time’s since and absolutely love every trip. I have a huge ice fishing trip coming up in a couple of weeks so really looking forward to that 👍
I love Willow! I happened on your video and had to watch it. I am so glad I did. I'm always camping in the winter time because it is my favorite time to be out. I love hot tents and tent stoves. After watching you and your ice fishing tent conversion to a hot tent, I am going to get one for this purpose. I love the fact that it is insulated. You cannot get this in a regular tent unless you want to spend a thousand or more dollars. Thank you so much and hugs for Willow.
Great to hear you winter camp Parker! I certainly had lots of use with my first hot tent (non-insulated), so I'm thinking my experience with this one will be nothing but better (and warmer). I was totally in agreement with your set up with one exception. When you made the bulkhead for your stove, the back should have been a bit higher than the front.
