Seriously, though, a sketchbook with fewer pages can be really motivating because you can finish it really quickly. If you do one page per day in a 30 page sketchbook, you'll finish it in a month. Then you can try a different short sketchbook, which is always exciting. Short sketchbooks also let you assign themes to different sketchbooks without committing yourself to drawing a hundred pages on that theme. And you can generally get higher quality paper for a lower price per book.
@@pendlera2959while i agree, i think it goes both ways as it can be really awesome to have more pages in a sketchbook as that way you’re less afraid to be messy and make mistakes, as there are always more pages + you can just tape/glue pages together if you really don’t like them without really having wasting any pages
Or it may not look like the original inspiration. That was a big lesson for me. Just because it doesn’t come out as you wanted it doesn’t make it ‘bad’. If you remove the original inspiration and look at the work in isolation.
This was actually incredible helpful. I kove the fact that you use different media and styles, it really goes with the srt I do, too. I definetly will try the orange-blue one, its very cool! Also loved the first prompt 😊
As a creative thats basically starting over from an elementary stand point, this video gave me SO much inpso. Especially the blue and yellow drawings. Those have my brain rollllling. and I struggle deeply with having just a basic sketchbook practice. So genuinely, thank you for making this video!!!
I'm an older beginning painter who uses acrylics on canvas. I bought a sketchbook a few weeks ago, to try drawing and painting with watercolors. I've been so afraid to ruin it! I did sketch s couple small birds to paint, but I'm still hesitant to start painting them. After watching this, I'm very excited to try your technique with the color blobs and paint the negative space around random shapes! I've done a few acrylic painting in that style, but didn't even think of it for watercolors. Thank you!
I think the sketchbook videos get more views because sketchbooks are generally more accessible to people as opposed to the number of people who have the time and resources for more large scale pieces. Both are hugely valuable though and your video style is great.
I love "fill your sketchbook" videos, it's very helpful to spark up creativity (and push me to open my own and Do The Thing :D ) Loved the simple landscape and reminder than less in more, particularly for beginners! I'm def someone who tries to add everything and then find my art terrible
I hate my sketchbook rn and I really want to finish it asap so I can buy a new one. I didn't follow any steps, but the video was a nice background while I was writing in my sketchbook and glueing (??? english isn't my first language) my other drawings in. it was very inspiring tho and I loved the ideas! I definitely gonna use some of them. Please do more of such ideas
Thank you youtube algorithm for showing me this channel! Liked and subscribed! Your color combinations are fantastic and the variety of media is inspiring 👏👏👏
Your video made me take out my sketchbook and painted and drew alongside with you! I haven’t done it in months😅and yes pls! I absolutely love this type of videos 😊keep them coming! 😊
I loved this so much! Its funny how mentioned some of the exercises are so simple and almost obvious, but even so, it felt like new material was just explained in front of my eyes! I loved each page and how versatile thie exercises are. You could do every one of them on a specific theme, or subject matter - endless possibilities. Thank you so much for this. I now have a huge array of ideas jumping at my brain after feeling so stuck!
Cool ideas! I think the idea of the warm up page. I currently have a new sketchbook for a trip next week and it's intimidating seeing the first blank page when I open it! Thanks for the video 🙌
omg 9:25 tyler the creator mention !!! on a real note tho i actually loved this video it was rly helpful, most vids name generic ideas these ones actually helped my art block a lot tysm !! i love your art btw :)
Good ideas. I enjoy working with tombow brush pens. I loved the yellow color block with the bright blue. Stunning. I like idea of just drawing random things on Pinterest. I also like the contour drawing session with the hand.
1. Warm up page 2. Toned paper & colored pencils 3. Master copy 4. Blind contour and figure studies 5. Draw architecture 6. Simplify a landscape 7. Draw what you see on pinterest 8. Draw the space you're in right now 9. Go outside and get inspired 10. Draw a variety of one subject
Hi Karissa! New subscriber, and just wanted to say I really enjoyed this video. You gave a LOT of good ideas that I found really helpful and I'm excited to try some in my sketchbook. Wishing you luck with your channel, I hope you continue to grow! -Gabriela
Welcome to youtube! :) i liked your ideas, Will probably do many of them when I get a new book, but idk which one to buy. Seems like etchr and pentalic are the best options but i cant buy them in my country :/ not without buying from usa or England and the fee’s Will make it WAY to expansive. SO - Do you know any other sketchbook? I want to be able to paint with acrylic and wc. Also, What fineliner would you recommend for the blind contour/Line work. Thanks :)
I have used the echtr and it’s a beautiful book but I actually prefer the paper and quality of the moleskine watercolor sketchbook instead! And I believe they ship internationally! That’s what I’m using here.
i know YT doesn't feel as rewarding as TTK does, but YT is a better place to learn and long form engagement fosters followers in a different way. i hope you won't give YT up.
best way to fill out a sketchbook is get a smaller one
Not always!
Best way to fill out a sketchbook is get no sketchbook 😂

Friendly reminder: you can draw every thing, it just not may look the way you want it to

Definitely gonna try the 'simplify landscapes' idea at some point, I have such a bad habit of avoiding them cuz they're so intimidating lol
Ugh me too I can never make a detailed landscape
@@Karissabrielle The perspective, the dappled lighting etc is just too much for my little brain to handle :')

i enjoyed this style of video. Both your descriptions of why you choose what you wanted to draw and the drawing themselves.
These are great ideas. I often watch these sketchbook idea type videos but this one was particularly useful. 😊
I'm so glad! Thank you so much
I love the road with the yellow trees either side too. It just has some otherworldly atmosphere.

Beautiful work‼️What are the brush tip markers you used?

For fine liners I use micron or le pen brand. Le pen is what I used in this video and they are about 1$ each
A new subscriber here! I’m just wondering what the brands are of some the items you’re using? I would love to know!

Hmm maybe I’ll make a video all about where to start with art!
How do you find references on Pinterest
Ooh good question. I’ll show in my next sketchbook video
