I agree that improving the airflow in, the exhaust out and then finally optimizing the A/F ratio and ignition timing across the rev range are the best bang for buck mods you can make on the VQ37 engine, as you're improving engine operating efficiency across the whole rev range. Wanting to keep my 370Z daily driver street legal here in California, I was only able to go with a cold air intake, better cat back exhaust and a chassis dyno tune. I had a Stillen Gen 3 long-tube CAI and a Fast Intentions 2.5" dual x-pipe cat back installed with an Ecutek software dyno tune done on a Dynojet chassis dyno at Specialty Z. We went with a little more conservative tune to give me a greater margin of safety in case of something like bad gas getting in the car. The result was a healthy 321 peak rwhp. With the 120 lbs I've taken off the car, plus the stiffer Hotchkis anti-roll bars, the car is much more fun to drive. Lightweight Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires plus ultra lightweight forged magnesium monoblock wheels have contributed to the performance and handling improvements.
I will be getting an E85 conversion flex fuel tune with new fuel pump, injectors and flex fuel kit. I already have the SCS catback with Z1 high flow cats.
Did the cats increase the exhaust tone by a good amount? I have some Berks ready to install but debating test pipes Edit: I’ve seen videos but you can’t really tell over video, example my ark catback is way louder than videos my jaw dropped lol

I made 0-60 in 5.0 stock and 4.8 with these parts spinning the tires. With good grip, I’m sure I could be in the low 4.7s. 0.3 seconds is a pretty big improvement in such a short distance. But these mods really help with throttle response and top end performance more than the 0-60

Funny thing last week I ordered a set of 1320 high flow cats for my q40 and by mistake I got a pair of resonated test pipes instead. Hmmmm what should I do???...shhhhhhhhhh lol.

This is a good question and a good video topic. I would say tires, sway bars and drop in filters. Easy to install, you'll notice a difference (especially tires and sway bars!) and once they are installed, you don't really have to worry about them. Check filter cleanliness every so often and grease the sway bar bushings.

Would you think it's worth it to get a tune with the Takeda intake and just an axle back exhaust? I'm not sure I want to go messing with the exhaust all that much since I do live in a place that does emissions testing regularly and I really don't want to get fined for having test pipes, otherwise I'd probably go with the full SCS catback.
Many people have had trouble running takeda intakes without a tune. Intakes without doing exhaust doesn't make all that much sense, so then you'd be spending a lot of money for intakes and a tune with minimal gains. Don't get intakes.
@@SpeedCultureStudios Admittedly I already got the Takeda intake but it was because my stock intake broke apart and I was hoping that the Takeda would have better build quality (thankfully it does)... plus the dealer didn't want to replace the stock one under warranty. I haven't noticed any issues over the past year but I think I'll hold off on a tune until I eventually decide to do a full exhaust. I'm still pretty new at all this I admit lol.

I know that a stock 3.7 with K&N drop in filters made 300whp (about 12-14whp gains) I’m sure AFE is the same. The OEM air box are pretty decent but in cold weather with long tube intakes you’ll make even more.

Intakes definitely need a tune-little to no benefit without and have often thrown a CEL without. Muffler delete is a nice option if you’re just looking for some volume, but there is no power/performance increase. In fact, many many people have experienced a loss in torque. This is top performance mods. Muffler delete does not fit that. And not all catbacks sound the same. Just look around lol
These cars love air 3.7vqs got 2 throttle bodies with bigger throttles intakes catless downpipe tune you'll start shooting flames eassy and the most important is 2 oil catch canes since they love to burn oil ,, you don't need a whole catback ..mid muffler delete and a y pipe if you want a decent sound..gtr intake and injectors f pump you'll be at high 300s mid 400 hp depending on your tune ,,from there tires wheels coilovers or maybe bigger brakes if you don't have the s model .,i was beating vets scatpacks cameros mustangs you name it good luck

330 whp is not the same as 328 crank horsepower Stock 328hp = 280 plus or minus whp 330 whp= 396 CRANK hp Crank hp is measure at engine, whp is measured at the wheels which have a drivetrain loss

It’s all personal preference. RWD is lighter and experiences less power loss. Awd obviously gets better grip if you plan on doing any dig racing

I don’t even know what that consists of. If it doesn’t include forced induction, then no it’s probably not worth it.

Not necessary at all. Not stressing factory injectors with bolt ons on the 3.7.

Yeah it’s be worth it. You’d get the most out of it with a 2.5” catback but with test pipes you’ll definitely want a tune

@@issas4660 I’ve done videos on all of this stuff. Cheap drop ins will allow dirt through but a good quality one will do a great job.

In some states without emission laws you can get away with it but if your in a state that tests emissions you won’t pass.
But “getting away with” is still not legal. If you get pulled over and they check-big fine

Not a shot? Lol 340 is very common with the mods mentioned-Q50. G37 may need a bit more help for 340. The newer Zs hit 340 quite easily.
