I personally really struggle with skills. I never picked up a rope by myself, even though my mother tried to teach me how to do it, I just couldn't do it.
A few years ago, we had jump rope as a topic in pe and I just fucked up super bad. We were supposed to do a sequence with cool tricks and I just did basic jumps... with messing up every few skips. Recently I got into fitness and stuff and there, I got in contact with jump rope again. As I knew we'd have to do it at school again this year, I decided to start. But jump rope as a topic came sooner than anticipated so now I have 6 weeks to learn basic tricks.
I just struggle with coordination - when I try to jump only with one foot, I also swing only on that side. I'm trying to practice every day but it just makes my knees hurt even though I try to jump as low as I can get away with and land on the ball of the foot. While I was jumping yesterday, something amazing happened. I always count my jumps - my 'high score' is 11 - and while I was counting, the rope just went under my feet with no second thought - I didn't think about it and I got the rythm. As soon as I noticed that awesome feeling I messed up though.
    Any advice?

I am a Sports physical therapy specialist and educator. Tori has fantastic legs! I would love to have her perform in a two piece outfit to show how all her musculature works in tandem. Learning kinesiology is vital for sports therapists. Being able to evaluate the kinematic chain from the muscular and joint biomechanics perspectives should be engrained. Learning watching pure quality motion is the start. Just as the tallyjump records it would be fantastic to place recording electrodes on various parts to quantify every aspect of the jumping motion. Jumping rope is a skill every student can participate in. It lends itself to segmental breakdown that is readily understandable. Find a college that offers physical therapy and start helping the students learn the kinematics of sport. In addition to analysis of the physical movement skills the conditioning and strengthening of the body and how one progresses through the 12 things included in the phrase "strength". Understanding this leads the student to more readily grasp the work demands and this transitions into rehabilitation and conditioning treatment plans. How does the body tolerate the forces, how did the jumper progress to this stage from a neuromuscular, histological, circulatory, nutritional perspectives. Jump rope has a place in all the sciences of motion and sport. ALSO starting both boys and girls in jump rope in first grade will benefit their lifelong health, reduce obesity, prevent many young adult and adult health problems. Jumpers have such capable timing, speed, and reaction time they sustain fewer injuries in other sports. Jumpers and gymnasts have the best tendons in sports. Half of me wants everyone to learn how to sing properly, the other half wants everyone more active in multiple activities. Jumping rope is one that allows for constant change and growth so participants are less likely to get bored and give up. I how this gives you a creative kickstart.
