Did that dude even watch Django?
Yea, I was tryna make it work in my head like I guess a bounty hunter IS a bad guy lol
@@StarrStarrandStarr Why? It was the law of the time, he was an enforcer of the law. By no means he was a bad guy in that movie.
He had Django shoot a Bounty in front of his kid. He shot DoCaprio's character out of hate at the end of the film. He shot a Bounty in the middle of a town, a Bounty, but also a Sheriff. He actively shows disregard for anyone but himself in the film. Cold and calculating, so he can do his business. He may be on the right side of the law, but that doesn't make him a good character
@@azmakikian5400 The guy he makes Django shoot in the front of his kid was a member of a gang who did horrible stuff. It was a lesson, the bounty may look "nice" but the reality is different.
The bouty he shot in the middle of town was impersonating a sheriff, don't you realise how fucking dangerous that is? It's a criminal being a sheriff. The only way to kill him was like that, how else would he get to the guy?
Also, if him having extreme hate towards DiCaprio's character, that was a slave owner and fed his slaves to the dogs, didn't tell you anything at all about his character, than you really need to reevaluate some stuff my dude.
His character was by all means a good guy, he literally chase bad guys and freed slaves from beginning to end. He trained Django even though he had nothing to do with his situation, he could've just went about his business, but he trained the guy and helped him save his wife. What movie did you watch wtf?
He owned a slave, dude wasn’t a hero, he was an anti hero
The politest 'that's a stupid question' response I've ever seen.
Not a stupid question, just maybe not worded correctly. Change it up a little to more of “what is the process of getting into a character that isn’t like yourself?”, or “where do you pull from to become this villain?”, and you’d probably get something interesting.
@@toobin8r yea agreed
@@toobin8ror what similar roles have you done in the past?
Straight up asking what he asked is kind of stupid
Christopher Walz telling the interviewer he’s a clown without telling the interviewer he’s a clown
@@YouToob-g7hyou should rewatch. Murdering people for money isn't good at all. He's just not an outlaw is all.
@@angelbast3rd133 dis agree
@@nadagabri5783 you'll end up in a bad place with that mindset. Murderers go to the worst part of hell.
@@angelbast3rd133 he kills murderers only, man
the interviewer is well known for being an ass, so props to the late great CW for playing it straight.
Good response for a stupid question.
Asking an actor for insight into how they get into a specific role is a stupid question now? Okay dipshit
Wasnt a stupid question at all. More like a pretty bad obvious answer lol.
The host was trying to project his own insecure self onto the actor. When the host is naturally a racist bs artist.@@user-yo8ql4zl6q
I thought exactly the same. You can even see that he thinks, guys c'mon.
@@BarryMemphishe was thinking of a clever way to answer a dumb question without being mean
Well his role in Django wasn't that of a mean guy or the antagonist
Regardless he's a fantastic actor no matter the role he plays
what? didn't you see how he killed good falks for saving a bunch on ni...as
Even him as the SS officer. It wasnt really "bad" it was like, sophisticated and well spoken with an evil Context,.
@@siltstrider6812 no, the ss office was definitely a bad character, he was the antagonist of the movie, more than hitler himself, he literally starts the movie off by killing a whole family, what are you even talking about?
@@juegobuenoyomalo9501 I understand that, but Waltz didn't have to act out hatefully or with anger, or "evil demeanor" is what I mean. He was a Composed calm, and generally happy character.
@@siltstrider6812 Evil does not equate angry at all. Evil is very commonly composed, as been found in many horrible decisions taken by many horrible men in very calm manners. Do you know what a coup d'etat is? Do you think military generals are constantly screaming? Look at any of the speeches of any of the generals that took over any of the countries in latin america, you'll find composed peolpe that were evil as fuck. Lobbyists with calmness saying vile lies, like Patrick Moore saying "he would drink glyphosate"
Or a fucking nazi general calling himself "the hawk" and "the jew hunter" while comparing jews to rats, that's very clearly an evil character saying evil things. People don't need to scream to be evil.
One of the best actors in my opinion!
Agreed, considering I've only known him in a few roles, it's a compliment to say that he's also one of my favourite actors as well.
I haven't seen my opinion. Did he play a mean guy who didn't care for anyone else's opinion?
his role in Django was not a sinister character though….though I suppose the man does kill people for a living
Are you positive?
@@jamesdaniels8007I don't know
Not just people, those were murderers that he killed
He was a bounty hunter bro. Vigilante in a sort of poetic way.
@@hatti... You don't know if you're positive?
His way of speaking and accent is so refined!!!
truly efficient humor
Great comment 👏🏼
Besides that. Waltz only comes off so bad because of what he says and does is so polite and articulate that evil behind it takes you by surprise. He’s not raving, screaming, going nuts with a machete…. He’s brilliant and fun to watch even if you despise his character.
perfectly in character for the dumb questions haha
He is certainly an actor... a brilliant one and a very gracious man i would say. I mean, the way he put the interviewer in his place.
He's up there in that rarified air with actors like Daniel Day Lewis. Dude is awesome
I agree.. Daniel Day Lewis is a Phenomenal actor, along with Christoph Waltz
I wouldnt put him up tjere with daniel day but hes veryyy amazing
@@Seven.And.The.RaggedTiger Has he said: he is an actor. Half Hollywood are not, they can only manipulate their own range of emotions (look angry or happy) but can't really create a persona.
But it's not entirely their fault, producers and casting crew have a lot to blame.
He's honestly pretty endearing to hear no matter who he plays
One of those actors that grab hold of you every time they’re on screen he’s just the best.
Great answer Christopher! Perfect!
He is surely one of the best.., absolutely amazingly intelligent 👍
Hans Landa was actually polite in demeanor. His deeds were sinister but he even treated his enemies with respect
Please, be kidding.
He did kinda with some great character
@@DaniloDanny77 Why would he be kidding? His character was that of a careerist who was more interested in his work than any political ideology. He was polite in speech and evil in deeds, I don't get how you can disagree with his take on that.
@@Comicsandstuff it’s possible that Danny might be Jewish and is offended by the idea that someone said something positive about a Nazi character. However, he is entitled to his opinion. Not everybody is going to see the Hans Landa character like I do. For the record, I never said that I empathized or even sympathized with the character. I was just pointing out something that seemed pretty obvious.
@@DaniloDanny77 why what’s gonna happen? Please, do tell…
I love him so much.
Whoever said there are no stupid questions was wrong
Teachers
My mum always said " there are no stupid questions, only stupid people"
"May not come as a surprise but I'm an actor". Loved this statement.😊
Stupid questions gets speachless answers.
I love how Christoph looked confused when he said that Dr. Schultz was a bad guy. the interviewer clearly never saw the movie. It takes like five seconds to do research on this and yet they still mess up.
Im anxiously waiting for Waltz to realize that he would make a great comediant… looking forward to see his show 😂 he’s so funny, just love the way, the tone in his sarcastic remarks 😂😂
He’s literally a good guy in Django. Morally flexible sure but it’s just that he’s mostly coldly practical but still has more humanity than half the people around him in that movie.
Dr. Schultz from Django was not a bad guy, he was a guy who lived off of the execution of wanted individuals, who were deplorable. He had to make due in rough times but he showed great humanity and empathy throughout the movie, specially nearing the end if you know what I mean
He was the good guy in Django
Fantastic answer! Just love his dry humour! 😅
Simple answer! Sometimes people do this senseless questions, he is an actor and actors…act!! If you’re good then obviously if you’re playing a good guy you will sound good if you’re playing a bad guy you sound bad !! That’s it!!
So fantastic answer, and very practical, very European. If was some actors, they would answer in a very long and philosophical way, in a type of answer when squeezed, you would have the same information that we had from Christoph waltz
The insult was so sweet and the interviewer is so oblivious 😂
The thing is that most of the time, he's not even acting all that nasty. In fact, he's acting quite kind, polite, and charming. Even while he's doing terrible things, he's still keeping up that kind of image. There are just a couple of key moments where he drops the facade and shows his true face, and those make his character quite terrifying.
King Schultz was one of the kindest goodest men ever.
Goodest = Not a word.

He looks like Ryan Gosling's father
Yo fr I paused it on a perfectly resting Ryan gosling expression too then read this comment..
Brilliant
He also won an Oscar for Django Unchained... playing a character who wasn't really mean and nasty.
That’s why he makes sinister so well, in Django he is an assassin, yet you think he’s nice. He made a likable killing machine
@@LionelBercovich He’s certainly not nasty in the way Hans Landa was in Inglourious Basterds. Violence is the language of Tarantino's movies. Violence doesn't make characters in his films good or bad, they live in hyperviolent worlds. Django is also an assassin, but in the world of the film, he's not "mean and nasty," that's not how we're meant to see him-- he's the hero. The same is true of the bride in Kill Bill or Aldo Raine in Inglourious Basterds. Dr. King Schultz in the world of Django is not meant to be understood as villainous. On the contrary, he's meant be understood as kind of compassionate (as compassionate as an assassin can be). He despises slavery, he's shown multiple times struggling to watch violence against slaves, and he can't even stomach shaking Calvin Candie's hand. The people Dr. Schultz kills "deserve it." Meanwhile, Christoph Waltz's character in Inglourious Basterds, Hans Landa, is a Nazi detective who loves toying with people he intends to kill. He makes a meal out of hunting and killing innocent Jews and terrifying the people trying to protect them. You take almost any Tarantino character out of the context of their films and put them in our world, they're all kinda bad. Hans was evil by the standards of the film he belongs to, and that's not true of Dr. Schultz.
He is truly amazing actor, bravooooo 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
They always ask him that dumb question. There is that one interview where he answered it.
which one?
I mean, it may not exactly come as a surprise ...
... I'm from Austria
As some infamous painter
yeah, like 9 Mio. other pe!ople
@@BederikStormAs was Mozart. As was Schroedinger. As was Freud. As is Schwarzenegger. As was Klimt. As was Haydn. As was Hedy Lamarr. As was Musil. As was Tesla. As was Djerassi. As was Meitner. As was Semmelweis.
I could go on.
I Love your response. You are a great actor.❤❤❤
ITS GENIUS. PURE TALENT THERE.
Besides being a natural at what he does, Christoph Waltz is simply genuis !! ❤❤
I love him so much. He needs way more credit for his acting. Genius.
He wasnt mean at all in django. Lol atupid. He was a complete gentleman and a heroine of the movie. Soooo... yeah
Your English is horrible!
That’s a good response. He’s an actor. Guys who play a mean character, maybe they’re nice in real life. Guys who play a funny character, maybe they’re shy in real life. It’s called acting.
Nobody ever brings up how fucking hilarious Bloodnophski was when talking about his characters
Great answer and the thruth
When the interviewer lets you know he hasnt really watched your movie
I love listening to this man speak
He showed both roles well in The Portable Door which I didn't think it was half bad. Definitely worth a watch!
One of my favourite actors... Very over looked...Brilliant performances, Very Sharp, and humble whenever interviewd.
Love his energy
He was litterally the greatest guy in Django.
What makes his character in Basterds so evil is the calm, smarmy tone. So matter of fact. No evil screaming rants.
As Blofeld in Bond, his character required that same play on evil.
That’s a pretty cheap answer. No one is clueless to the fact that he’s an actor. The interviewer is asking HOW he, as an actor, gets into that mindset so well. Which an something many people especially aspiring actors would love to hear a detailed answer on
Which just shows how much of a CONSUMATE actor he is. He plays his characters SEEMINGLY effortlessly. Cheap answer? Waltz had to work hard to be that good.
When you allow the host to write their own questions
Pfew!
For a moment, I thought he was going to say:
"It may not exactly come as a surprise, I am german."
Love his thinking process
Tell me you didn't watch the movie without telling me you didn't watch the movie.
I bet he's never even watched both movies. He was a gentleman in Django. I'd watch anything Christopher is in. He's one of the best!
He was somewhat a bad guy, just more of an anti-hero
.
He's very handsome and I love the way he speaks.🎉❤🎉
I love this guy. He is so funny. He should be a comedian. He seems like a comedian has that kind of mind.
This may come as a surprise. I'm an actor. Priceless ❤🎉😎🤟🤗
He's not a villain in Django. His characters in Django and Inglorious Basterds are literally polar opposites.
Grande veramente bravissimo 👏🏻
Man, even when he's being himself, the way he speaks makes him sounding menacing. Even his choice of words.
He was expecting him to say "oh i had a bad childhood, my parents or someone was so evil, blah blah. " A real artists tries their best to never derive their art from personal experiences. Then everyone can be a good actor with all that they go through in life. Its about playing that character and bringing out their emotions and characteristics not the actor who plays it. Idk if that makes sense..
Wonderful actor and person
He's GORGEOUS
One of the best villain actors in history
"I imagine what a mean and nasty person would be like... and then, I PRETEND to be that person."
I really thought he was going to say “Because I’m German” as the joke 😭
He isn't bad at being good. He was brilliant in Django
And what a great actor he is ❤😂
Perfect answer 😂Excellent actor 🙌🏽
Bro he was a sweetheart in Django 💁🏻♂️
The best part is. He only took the part in Django in one condition. His character had to be pure. Not a single bad deed troughout the movie. I wonder what the interviewer did to prep for this one.
That man is pure love ❤
His Django character is an angel 😊
Its because his 'nice' side is so good, light and dark
"That's a Bingo!"😂
Always pleasure to listen 😂
This actor understands human nature. That's the heart of the issue.
Mt. Waltz: Here's a well deserved Chef's kiss!!!
He is so charming, he is an Austrian. 👍👍👍❣️🌻🌞
Pretty "nasty" answer when you think about it. And so well deserved !
It is true though that his rendition of the bad guy in Inglorious bastards was chilling. But that is simply because he is a great actor !
It’s not a dumb question. He could have given specifics on how he as an actor prepares to get into an evil character. What techniques he uses, what goes through his mind etc.
Stupid questions need proper answers.
Really good actor he is 🙌
He played a guy who shot a slave owner & helped free slaves, classic villain right there..
He is not a German, he is from Austria! ❤😂
Yup great actor
Christoph is an amazing actor.. 👍😎
Very good actor 🏆🥇✨💫
He was one of my favorite actors in the movie Django
You need to watch the clip Jaime Fox did describing Chris Walz’s process on creating his Oscar award winning role in Django
He wasn't bad in Django. He wasn't perfect, but he was much better than most of the other characters in that movie.
He’s such a great actor
Love his style
I wish I could meet him, he's so amazingly good at acting
one of my favourite actors of all time❤
