I've grown asters for the last couple of years and I personally think they are greatly underrated. I love asters and I wrote down a couple of the ones you showed to add to my collection for next year. Great video!
So beautiful! I love Chinese Asters I did beautiful pink ones this year! But next year I will do a wide verity! Thank you for this video! My asters did good!
I’m trying again with these beauties! Have failed twice but refuse to give up because they are so beautiful! I need a dahlia substitute (also trying to grow heirloom chrysanthemum) for my super humid and hot climate! Your flowers made me smile 😊 have a wonderful day 🌺
I had some China Asters in my garden last year and one popped up in my garden this spring, what a nice surprise! So I decided to grow some more from seed and planted them by the surprise aster but bugs ate them 😢the one that came up on it’s own is doing great!
@@ChicagoGardener it’s the easiest way to sow seeds-No hardening off, no animals eating your seeds or getting washed away, and you can leave town and don’t have to worry about watering! 😁
@@newt52864 oh that’s great! I’ve even winter sown packets of flower mix’s that have flowers that bloom at different times, like a wildflower mix, a mix for wet areas or dry areas
I bought a packet of China Aster seed mix at my local garden store and they never germinated. I'll try again next year, but I'm still butthurt about my balcony garden being China Aster-less at the mo'.
OMGoodness! I think you're right - I do need them lol! How beautiful!
The flowers are so stunning!!
@@ChicagoGardenerwhat are the names of all of them, I don’t see the names
Yayy!!! So happy you’re loving them now! ❤️

I think they are too!! I don’t see many people talk about them but I love them so much.
Those are all beautiful. ❤️
So happy I found your channel ;) 5b gal

Yay!! I’m adding even more to my list for next year 😂
It's looking like I'm heading over to Johnys seeds. Just when I think I grow enough. I'm hooked! Absolutely gorgeous!
I already have more sitting in my cart than I have room for in the garden 😆
Thank you for this great video ! I grew one kind this year a nice shade of pink! But next year I’m going to a wide variety!
I love all the varieties so much!!

My dahlias are blooming but definitely struggling with the humidity right now! I’m hoping it cools down soon.
So fun. Thanks for sharing. Going to pickup some for next year. 💕
You’ll have to let me know which ones you get!
What a great introduction to these flowers. Thank you!
I’m so glad it was helpful!
Yep, need them lol 💜
Aren’t they so pretty!!
Beautiful flowers. I'll have to try them.
They’re all so beautiful!!
Yes, loving mine this year thanks for suggesting them 😊
Yay! Which varieties are you growing?
@ChicagoGardener I purchased from MIGARDENER violet, apricot and Valerie mix.
Outstanding
Thank you!!
I've always pronounced it (chamois) shammy. Like the leather cloths. Tower silver aster is a must have in my garden.
Omg is that how you say it??
I think Bethany is pronouncing it the French way. I too learn it as shammy but have been corrected many times. 🤷🏻♀️
As always, great info! Thanks!
My pleasure!!

I love when surprise flowers pop up in the garden!
Great video! How do you support your China Asters? You might also want to check out Johnny's new "Soufflé Light Pink" variety :).
Hello! They are excellent for Winter sowing, so are strawflowers
Maybe I’ll try that next year to save space inside!
Thank you , because I winter sow 😉

Muy buenos dias crecieron muy bien
Thank you!!
Will the asters come back next year if you leave them in ground? I'm in Ontario zone 5b. I think I heard that somewhere.
They are annuals so it might be reseeding from the previous years plants if you let the seeds fall on the ground!
How is the horticulture program going? Im looking to start one soon and would love to hear how yours is going.
I really like it! I didn’t have any classes in the summer but the one this fall should be my last and then I’ll have my horticulture certification!
Nice channel. How many native plants do you grow?
I have trouble getting anything but the purple china aster to germinate. Any suggestions?
Where are you getting seeds from and how old are they?
@ChicagoGardener johnnys. They were new seeds. The purple germinate but the apricot don't. 2 yrs in a row.
I bought a packet of China Aster seed mix at my local garden store and they never germinated. I'll try again next year, but I'm still butthurt about my balcony garden being China Aster-less at the mo'.
Try Johnny Seeds! That’s where I get mine from now.
I couldn’t tell if they were in your garden or in pots?
They are in the elevated beds on my deck!
I think the coral refers to the texture and not color 🪸
That would make more sense!
@@ChicagoGardener Also, I now have $150 worth of seeds in my cart and it all started with a few China Asters! 🫣☺️
