Great to see the promotion of superkarts for the future mate. I hope TH-cam is a good platform for bringing more people to the sport, whether watching at the circuits or taking part. Channels like yours and Curtis Seymour's and others are great too watch. Cheers for the uploads 👍
USA South Carolina here. Great Q&A Rob! I was peeing my shorts last night watching your rain race, my helmet is bowed to Ya'll, we don't rain race. Might a 63 year old add a few things for your new Kart followers to further their introduction? My old 250 Rotax single shifter is a full enduro lay down. We run Daytona, Charlotte, Roabling Road, CMPCarolina, big courses like you chaps. On Ulimited enduros we normally run butterfly steering with paddle shifters. Full arm strength must be developed! Of course the clutch is only used to come off the starting line. We do about a 5K to 6k clutch drop to get a little spin of the tires and drift from an angle into a straight line. This is also important to quickly get heat into the tires as we do not do pace laps; grid to green flag. If your not using tire warmers, winter and spring (March) morning races are a hand full for a couple laps. We also adjust our carbs on the fly by looking at our temperatures to get maximum performance. I have a modified carb that allows me to also adjust my main jetting, but knowledge of spark plug reading from practice is important on new or rebuilt engines. Hope this added to you new young fellows getting out there. PS: Dont over drive at first and on a new track. I have cracked ribs, dislocated my back, and bent fuel tanks with my hip because i use to hammer to hard with cold tires. Be wise, study your course, walk or drive the circuts👍, and then have fun!! d
That’s fantastic mate!! I would actually love to do a video with the American guys who race Superkarts and maybe I could ask you guys questions as to how to get into Superkarting in the USA… really great comment and insight into your racing! Thank you!
Hey Rob. I am a div one superkarter in New Zealand. Running an identical package to yours. Just wanted to nice work representing superkarts and what makes them so great. Keep up the great work.
Listening to you describe your first experience in Superkarts.... PRICELESS!!!! LOVED IT. I'm in the US, but one of my friends, Johnny West, is heading to Europe to race this summer. Can't wait to see the videos!!!
Thank you Travis for the kind comment and support! much appreciated! definitely check out my other vids too!! Yes i do know Mr West indeed!! i shall be racing him this year! Please do hit that subscribe, really supports the channel!! 🔥🔥
Great video 👍. In my day there was no such thing as Aero setup. The only changes we ever made were tyre pressures if it was raining. That's progress. Looking forward to your videos when the seasons starts. Take care and have fun. 👍
Great point! It certainly has come on a long way! but in many respects, its the same hard, competitive racing!! Glad you enjoyed the Video Paul and looking forward to sharing my next video with you! :)
Hi Rob, I used to race Formula E back in the day (Late 80's early 90s), and even though I'm Much Much older now I seem to be being drawn back and getting interested again. Not sure if I'm losing it! Cheers. keep up the good work! Scott
Ah fantastic mate!! When you say formula E what’s that? Are you referring to the Superkarts or another form of Motorsport mate?? Ahh you know you want to come back 😉😂 once that racing bug bites you, it’s hard to stop!! Thanks for support and please do hit the subscribe as we have new kart collection video coming soon! @@SalaMotorsport That sounds fantastic Scott! Thank you for checking out my channel and sounds like you had some really big successes in the world of motorsport, especially getting up to F3!! I would love to come down and enjoy some Karting in Essex! Next time I’m down there with friends or family I’ll let you know mate! You’ll have to come to a Race Weekend one time and come say hello! All the best mate and see you on the next video soon! 🤝👊🔥
I found one of the most spectacular sights in motorsport was when the karts were using the original Silverstone GP circuit during the1980s at the British Kart Grand Prix events. They were using the original Woodcote corner without any chicanes. The sight of a full grid of 250 twins taking it absolutely flat out was an amazing sight. Whether todays 250s twins would be much faster I guess we'll never know now. I think the fastest lap at that time was an average of 117mph. Superkarting was having a golden age back then with massive grids especially with the 125s which were divided up into batches of 60. Here is a video from 1982 th-cam.com/video/-3a1tvy5T58/w-d-xo.html&ab_channel=BohlinRacing
Hi Rob Just started watching your channel and think you have a really professional approach. It will will really attract new younger people to the sport. I raced Divison1 (Formula E) from 1988 to 1996. It was a fantastic time with great names to be racing against. We competed at British long and circuit championships along with World and European. As you say the purest form of motorsport. All the best in Div 1 for 2022. I will try and catch up with you at one of this years meetings. Roger Mayers

Amazing to hear mate! I can’t recommend them enough! If you can, google Superkarting Uk based at Darley Moor circuit near Ashbourne Derby! Let Terry know Rob Stubbs sent you and he’ll be able to book you onto the Superkart experience day to try one of these 🔥
Suggestion: mount your camera in the left so we can more easily see your shifting. Vids where u can easily see the shifts & how busy it makes your hands are more impressive IMO. Question: how expensive is it to race a D1 superkart vs other classes including sprint kart classes? I’m thinking basics like travel minus hotel costs, purchase of the kart, entry fees, maintenance, and consumables (Eg tires). Enough to do the basics practice, qualify, race minus unnecessary go fast gear or extra practice time for a reason.
Your probably looking at just over £1K per race weekend + plus food etc… and then if things go wrong I.e mechanical failures then can easily add that on top. That’s a good ball park figure
Hi Rob, what classes are available in BSRC this season? Are they introducing more classes to aid the crossover between short and long circuit ( kz125 in short circuit trim). Cheers for any info and have a great season
Hi Rick, I’m not 100% sure! I know there was talks to introduce the KZ class for the 125’s to boost numbers but not sure h what the final decision was! Other than that I think it’s the same classes 👊🔥

The thing with SuperKart is........ it just doesn't get enough exposure, and not considered as a form of stepping ladder into professional motorsports. It's mainly for the rich older farts with midlife crisis or retired racers who tried but couldn't make a professional career out of racing but want to race again for fun (no offense, mainly joking..... well, half-joking, haha). I mean, of course it doesn't matter if you're just doing it as a fun hobby but for those people who wants to take racing seriously and see how far they can go, SuperKarts just isn't the path to take.......though I'm sure you're fully aware of that. Plus SuperKarts just doesn't deliver the same close combat racing that sprint kart does which is the main reason why. With that said, I would LOVE to own a SuperKart just for the pure speed and thrill of going that fast. Too expensive though.
Actually quite a few Superkart drivers have progressed to numerous “Formula” classes of racing so have to disagree with you there. I do appreciate that the rich families start their young child off in the wildly expensive short circuit racing. And sorry but I do disagree with you again, I’ve whitenesses both long and short circuit racing, and some of the closest, and ‘fastest’ forms of motorsport racing on the absolute limit has been on long circuit with Superkarts and nothing else comes remotely close. There simply is nothing better than a full grid of Superkarts on a track like Silverstone going wheel to wheel at 130mph/140mph. You just don’t get that on short circuit having raced both before. But yes short circuit is admittedly the more natural stepping stone for young drivers. We have an age restriction on Superkarts so really can’t accommodate younger drivers due to safety. Yes your right more exposure and marketing would help Superkarts massively for sure!!
Great to see the promotion of superkarts for the future mate. I hope TH-cam is a good platform for bringing more people to the sport, whether watching at the circuits or taking part. Channels like yours and Curtis Seymour's and others are great too watch. Cheers for the uploads 👍
