  • While hunting for cod in Moldefjord on the west coast of Norway, I came across a couple of beautiful Atlantic Wolffish (catfish). The cod were of course invited home for dinner, but I left the Wolffish alone this time.
All recordings were made with Gopro Hero 7 Black. Please share the video, give it a thumbs up and subscribe if you like it. Thanks for watching.

Out of all the spearfishing youtubers I've seen, which is a lot, you're definitely the best. How do you shoot that well? And why doesn't this fish swim away from you? It seems almost dead

Thank you very much for the motivating feedback. Comments like this are highly appreciated and inspire me to post more of my videos.
The wolffish is relatively friendly as long as it is not teased or attacked. The reason it does not run away is probably that it has few enemies and that it feels safe even if you are quite close. Anyways, you should be careful around these friendly "monsters", because if you have bad luck you can lose a finger or two...

    😂lol bro.
You got me there numerous times!
I thought you will really pull that trigger.
Yeah, your right they’re not aggressive but can be dangerous too.
It’s funny how they look when you point the sphere on them.
It like they know and playing dead or something 😂

To scare away a threat, the wolffish inflates, spreads out its fins and makes twitches with its jaws. If that does not help, it usually swims away.
Unless you stab it with your spear of course ...then it will most likely strike back.
Thanks for the comment man, and take care...

Beautiful video, it's strange the reaction of the wolffish!

Thanks man… The wolffish takes it easy as long as it does not feel threatened. The twitches it makes are probably a message that I should not come to close.

Wolf fish is a fantastic meal… it’s more like meat than fish I feel like. Tried taking one with my knife once, let’s just say lesson learnt and I wouldn’t do that again 😂

Yes, catfish is truly a delicacy.
Better be careful when hunting for them. Although they are relatively peaceful, the possibility of losing fingers is certainly present.
