I left JWs many years ago because I wanted an education and I got it. I became an RN but lost my family. I have no regrets. I have been able to take wonderful care of myself and prepare for my future. The future that my family never thought was coming. I have been shunned for decades. I was never disfellowshiped but I have led a good descent life. I am still workin but what will they do. Probably hoping for the new system to come to save them.

I also became a RN, I bought my first home in a great neighborhood. I’ve lived a very comfortable life. I remember a sister telling me nurses will not be needed in the new system so why become one. She and her husband were window cleaners and lived in a travel trailer. Recently, I learned they’re living in an assisted living home with no children for support. I’m happy you got out.

I’m a post Mormon that left 16 years ago. I was born into the church, but my parents were converts in the 70s. I am a scientist by profession. The mental load I took on was HUGE as a member. Thank you John for discussing how the Mormon church impoverishes families. I struggled a bit dating Mormon men because they wanted a woman who would have children and stay home with them. I didn’t want a bunch of kids and I still wanted a career. I volunteered for an organization that helped single mothers with job skills in Utah. It was the men in their lives that they were in that predicament to begin with. I would say half were raised Mormon. Meanwhile, I’m sitting in church listening to the bishop and his wife stress that the mother’s work was in the home. At that point, I was PIMO (present in but mentally out of the church). 3 months later I turned in my temple recommend. I couldn’t support the teachings anymore of the Mormon church. I was very scared to remove my garments (I went through the temple as an unmarried woman) at first. I thought I would get into a car accident and become disfigured as punishment for my wickedness. It was magical thinking and I’m appalled that I even thought that way as a scientist. This is how much of a hold the church has on its members. I love it when 2 content creators do a collaboration together and I’ve learned so much listening to this video. Thank you so much for being so brave in telling your story.

It is so true about the JWs and the education, that even when you enter to the organization having already a college education they look at you over your shoulder, and talk about you on your back! I suffered that with the sisters, they thought that I always looked at them like they were below me, just because of my comments, when we approached a person in the field service etc! Sad; because I saw they had some complex! I love this video! A lot of things we didn’t know about the Mormon’s. Excellent interview! Thanks!!

The similarities should not be surprising because whether it is Witness wolves, Mormon wolves, or Scientology wolves...they ALL be WOLVES! Wolves look and act alike.

The dynamics of these CULTS are unbelievable!!
I began to wake up from the JW's by reading about Mormons and watching Mormon videos entitled.."I was a Mormon".
Then John Dehlin's excommunication was broadcast on television. I started following him and I noticed a ton of similarities between the JW's and the Mormons. This was an eye-opener for me!!
After that I got the courage to go to TH-cam and look up.. "Why do people leave the Jehovah's Witnesses faith"...that's when I really started waking up!
I became obsessed listening to all ExJW stories on TH-cam and the FEAR of the "so called" apostates that we are taught to detest started to become a different reality, they are just people telling their experiences when they were an active JW and why they left.
So all the stigma started to dwindle.
Then I branched out and started looking into Seventh Day Adventist, Scientology, Christadelphians, The Brethren, Christian Science.
I started noticing the parallels between all the religions, and it runs deep...no questioning, no doubting and everything comes from the top down.
The rank-and-file are just the followers with no personal self, no individuality.
After you wake up and start seeing these things it can take a toll on you, especially if this is the only thing you have known all your life!
    It is really tough!
The phobias and fears, can mess with a person's mind.
Now I see why a lot of people resort to suicide, it is scary but the good thing is there's help!!
The internet has played a big part in all of this!
Now I look at people as being just human beings trying to do their best in dealing with all the stresses and anxieties in this world.
I can now honestly say that life is better on the outside! 💯

Right! That said spiritual matters shouldn't business oriented (a money making machine in a way or another - for a Church and somehow the comfort of those who manage churches and congregations), Christians in the beginning were collecting money for the poor, it's Charity (like charity work for free).

@@mormonstories I second that, and that is why the bible itself can't be considered speaking for God (it can be forged by men and the NWT is a very good example of that... Also that is not what the scriptures say by the way it is saying that the Word of God is the Christ (the confusion is BIG) and from John 1:1-4 I understand that it is God's consciousness (but that is not what we learn from religious leaders) to me the light comes from within... but that's just me right?

As a JW( Paul) was and IS (AND have been a faithful follower of Mormon stories podcast) fascinated by Mormon history. We traveled numerous times to do unassigned territory in Mormon strongholds. The underlying common denominator is how all religions dealt with black membership and how political influence increased membership. In fact, you could say that the Civil Rights movement, led by Black Christendom Churches, was the main influence that led to the increase in all these diverse organizations.

@@stackmosayless-1669 you are very correct. The bible was used during slavery to keep so called Black people docile by aggressively and constantly repeating bible verses about loving and obeying your master .
If you read books written before the 1900s... many of them openly admit that Black people particularly of the diaspora are the true descendants of Jacob or the biblical Israrlites.
Even the bible stated that the knowledge of who the Israelites are would be erased from men.
      (Deuteronomy 32:26)
The process by which that was done is also biblical and even names the nations who executed the process. (Pslams 83)
Those nations exist today under new names.
Look into this.... most blkpeople can't fathom this information. There are literal historical records which openly call them the Israelites.
Old maps also proves this. It takes some very intricate research.

@@arrellehnisrael8229 In all seriousness my bro I don't know if you have a JW background but fortunately I do and I say fortunately because the large majority were black and people of color who just thought they were doing the right thing. I analyze all religious organizational beliefs they all have bits of truth in them but the Organizational part is when the government gets involved for tax exemption. Jesus said pay all things to Cesar so even the Hebrew Isrealites in my opinion are correct on certain things just like JWs it's the other parts that are incorrect as well. NAACP is a Masonic organization and who knew? KHs use to be segregated and they use to teach we will turn back white in the Paradise. Most Hebrew Isrealite Organizations use the 6 pointed 🔯 as a logo. We all know God's # perfection is represented by the # 7. The Bible says the "first will become last and the last will become first." America is the World's Super Power ran by Anglo Saxons. This is the last and was prophesied about. All colors had world empires the original Isrealites lost their favor due to the worship of false gods. It is not the man's blood it is Christ blood that matters. When our name was changed through the slave trade you can never break down lineage just like in Bible. Whatever generational curses of my families past were also cleared. We had the praying grandmother's working grandfather's and even through the turmoil we still live in a time we can study history and know God's day is close at hand.

This was riveting.... despite its length every moment was enjoyed.... Believe it or not, much of what John said I was familiar with... My partner of 13 years was a mormon for approx 20 years of her life.... I learned most of what John had said from her... but hearing from John corroberates all the conversations that she and i shared over the years we were together... I have since listening here, gone onto Johns site for more of his videos..... Well done all, a fabulous insight into the Mormon church... Top marks all.. Of course what I didnt know ( as my partner and i split some years back) was the rapid decline of Mormonism.... and the reasons why this is so...One never stops learning....However much we think we know, there is so much more that we dont... I will re-listen to this broadcast again it is so good... Thanks again to all for the time it would have taken you to make such an outstanding listen, and to have conveyed information with such enthusiasm and eloquence...
