    If you do a bath then remember to fill up bath tub before applying sealant as this will add weight thus keeping the sealant from splitting or coming off later on

    Really great video! Is there an episode where you do it when the cubicle's installed and you apply the masking tape so perfectly while you're scrunched up in a foetal position in the bottom of the shower tray with your feet near your ears? Just asking for a friend.....😀

      I know it's tricky to do when the shower screen is installed, however it is possible of course just a little more tricky! we choose to demo it like this so we could get are camrea and lights in to shoot it better then all can see the technique clearer.

    Mr. Philips,
    The video was an excellent job; however, you have to tell us the name of the silicone as an older lady I want to do by myself because they charge a lot of money for something like this. I do not have a son or husband to help me, so could you please recommend a good silicone for my bath. Thank you so much!

      Hi there - the silicone sealant that Craig uses here is called Mapesil AC and is made by leading grout & adhesives manufacturer Mapei.
      It comes in many colour variants - you can view the full range on our website here: www.tilemountain.co.uk/silicone.html
      Hope this helps!

    How long did you wait for applying the second layer? I have a cheap plastic shower already tried fixing the silicone cracks 3 times now. Am gonna try your method now. My problem is that the bottom part of the shower bends too much creating gaps and cracks.

      Hi God,
      You would apply the second layer straightaway before the 1st layer dries so that they bond together. This should help with the bending and cracking somewhat.
      Hope this helps!

    Wonderful little video! VERY nice finish. Just one question, at the end you said clear silicone or coloured to match the tile for the corners.? So does that mean where each wall meets, you don't grout & just silicone for flexibility? I may need flexibility in my tiny shower since my house is on wheels 😉

    Just use alcohol sprayer instead ways to that tape and a good shim edger listed your finger

    Need to fill up the bath, at least half way, before applying silicone, otherwise you will get gaps in time.

      I'm a plumber and I've never seen nor heard anyone doing any such thing, sounds like rubbish. First off, unless you've got some super cheap and flimsy fiberglass tub, like you'd find in a caravan, they're not going to flex much, even if you weigh 150 kilos. First off there should have been a ledger installed around the perimeter of the tub to support the rim, so it's not going to flex, and second the bottom of the tub should have some kind of supporting material as well, and third, a good latex tub caulk with a proper bead size, and applied to a clean, grease-free surface shouldn't gap and should be able to flex as needed. In all my years of installing tubs, I've never had a problem.

    What is a "silicone wipe" that you used on your finger?

    • @TileMountain1
      @TileMountain1  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi Joshua - thanks for your comment.
      The silicone wipes that our Craig uses to wipe his hand are special multi-purpose industrial wipes that can be used to prep/clean surfaces before sealing. We do not stock them but they're widely available from most DIY retailers and online.
      Hope this helps.

    would you need to let the first treatment dry before the second Application?

    • @TileMountain1
      @TileMountain1  7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Hi Mary - thanks for your comment.
      The answer to your question is: Yes.
      We recommend installing left to right on first application, leave to dry, then apply up and down on the second application. This will ensure full coverage.
      Hope this helps.
